Regular periods but no ovulation?

Yesterday I went to my OBGYN and requested for an ultrasound to check if everything is okay. I was in my midcycle and the ultrasound did not detect any eggs. I have a regular period cycle of 28-29 days and my periods would last for 4 days. It usually flows a lot during the 2nd and 3rd day. My period is so regular, and I am surprised that no ovulation was detected. Is this normal? How common is this? Does this limit my chances of pregnancy?
