Unhappy Zoloft

I have been on 100mg of Zoloft for almost 4 years now.

The day before my first IUI I met with my soon to be x-doctor who told me to wean off. I asked her what the side affects were, she said there were none. She also knew I was having my first IUI the next day. She never asked me why I was on Zoloft in the first place.

I took her word for it and started weaning off the next day (July 10). Well let me tell you, First, there are side affects when coming off that stuff. Second, I am an emotional wreck - because I got my first . I thought I was ok but then woke up this morning and started non-stop crying for no apparent reason.

I skipped work because of it - which is what use to happen before I went on it 3 years ago.

Needless to say I have switched doctors and am waiting for my first appointment with him. In the meantime I have asked that I get a refill on my zoloft and that I cannot wean off right now.

I then was reading some posts where a lot of people are being perscribed zoloft while ttc and remain on it during pregnancy. So it must be ok???

I dont really have a question, just wanted to share my thoughts with people who are going through the same thing.

I am so sorry for your BFN. I know how crushing it is.

I just wanted to ask you...which doctor told you to ween off the zoloft? No one but your psychiatrist should tell you that, and then you should be on a very slow plan that he/she should go over with you. I was able to ween myself off 2 years ago, but it took me like 4 months, and that was just off of 75mg.

If you ween too quickly you could have side effects. I was very dizzy when I tried too fast. It works better slower, I didn't have any effects at all.

Unfortunately with all these IF issues, I actually went back on again a few months ago. My Dr. says that staying on a low dose is best if you intend to get pregnant, and that you do not have to start to ween yourself until you are actually preganant. Even then, if you stay on a low dose, it had not been proven to have any side affects. A healthy mom is just as important.

If I was not on it now myself, I don't know how I would have dealt with my BFN. I cried and cried too - it is not easy at all.

If you need to chat, feel free to PM me.

Feel better

Smile Hi!

Hi, I can't believe your doctor told you to go off it!!! I was on 50 mg when we started trying and after 6 months my doctor doubled it. It works wonders for me - I wouldn't be able to function if I wasn't on it!! I have also been told by my doctor and my OB that there are no know side affects and that the benefits for me far outweigh any possible risks! I'm sorry that you are going through this, try to find a doctor who will listen to you. Best of luck!!!
