Not sure where to begin!
I am a 33 year old woman recently married for the second time. I have two children (teens) from my first marriage. My husband does not have any children of his own and we dearly would love a baby. I have had two ectopic pregnancies which resulted in losing both fallopian tubes. As my insurance does not cover in vitro, I am looking to share my eggs with someone to cover some of the cost. I do not even know where to begin! Some of these agencies want women under 30! I have never had a problem getting pregnant. If someone could point me in the right direction that would be great

I am going to Cooper too. We were just notifed that we were matched with a donor. How did it go for you there? Were you happy?

BabyMakes3.... Your insurance should cover alot of the bloodwork that you need, the fertility clinic will need to check your FSH level on day 3 of your period, and your antral follicle count (resting follicles where eggs come from) LOL
Hope that helps you some! Hugs

shared cycles
I did de cycle about 2 years ago. It cost about 15,000. It was not successful for me. I since spoke to my re about another shared cycle , I will possibly do it in April. I can not afford one by myself.Re does'nt feel I am limiting my chances by sharing. I have a proven donor, if she produces less then 12 eggs the transfer for the secondary recipient is canceled, I am the primary, but if she produce less then 12 I am solely responsible for the cost about 23,000. I hope I am not confusing anyone. Does anyone have a story about a successful shared cycle?

I did de shared cycle and now I am 9wks pregnant. It cost about 11,000 + my meds. I used a proven donor and I got 29 total = 2 were xfrd, 14 others made it to blast and are now frozen. So, I would have to say it is not all bad. It really depends on your donor. Good Luck.

glad to hear
Thanks so much for a shared cylce success story, it is encouraging. I read so many people feel your chances are better with your own donor, but Ii can not afford that. God luck to you

I'm about to start a shared cycle soon. At my clinic, most DE recipients use either 1:2 or 1:3. Splitting eggs 1:3 (between 3 recipients) costs about half as much as doing it solo.
Also, my clinic offers shared risk. You pay about double cost of one cycle, but they give you up to 6 fresh cycles, as many frozen cycle as there are frosties, free ICSI, free freezing. And if you don't end up with a live baby, you get your money back. Since most patients choose to share donor, the clinic is very experienced with sharing donor, and the rates of success in the first cycle are the same for solo recipients as for the primary recipient in a 1:2 or 1:3 split. The odds of having any extra embryos to freeze decrease significantly with splitting. The odds of being canceled are about the same for solo recipients as for the primary recipient in shared donor cycles. Recipient #2 and #3 have higher odds of getting canceled. So, when deciding to share DE, you can grab a donor that doesn't have any recipients yet, and then you might wait a long time to get #2 & #3. Or, you can pick a donor that already has two, making the wait very short, but the odds of succeeding in one cycle are lower. Also, those that failed twice, they are pushed to #1 position in their next attempt (ahead of person who selected the donor first).
