Question What donor bank has thee best reputation?

Looking for donor sperm. This is serious stuff, and to me feels so hidden. I mean they could do anything with this sperm, so it has to be the most reputable. I'm not saying the cheapest, or the nicest to talk to, I'm saying the best quality of sperm, the best reputation for the most advanced screening techniques for disease and chromosomal problems. Give me your top two choices.

Thanks.

On another forums that I regualarly visit we have sticky about our experiences with many different sperm banks. You can take a look here.

which are the reputable sperm banks? - MotheringDotCommunity Forums

EDITED TO ADD: You never did mention your sexual orientation but if you are looking for a gay friendly sperm bank I would suggest that you look at this site too HRC | Sperm Banks

Smile thanks.

I think I saw that post awhile ago, but I most appreciate seeing it now. I did some searches, and while there are always issues, it seemed like the best bet are the larger banks.

thanks again.

We used The Fertility Center of California, the San Diego office. Their screening process is rigorous and in accordance with FDA live tissue regulations. Our experience was fantastic. Clearly the quality was good as our first IUI worked and the count was above average. Good luck to you.

Hey! I am a SMC and I used Northwest Cryobank with no problems. I have always been happy with them. They don't have a lot of bells and whistles, but they are also one of the cheapest banks.

Fruitless

The best fertility clinic in the country (by every measurable scale) is Colorado Center for Reproductive Medicine.

They, in turn, work with only two sperm banks. One is Fairfax (and, frankly, I don't recall the other).

So whatever criteria is being used by the best fertility clinic and embryology lab to decide on the best sperm banks is a recommendation I would take to the bank.

Good luck.

Fairfax Cryobank

I have used Fairfax Cryobank (Fairfax VA) and they have a very good screening process. For one of my IUI's I purchased two vials and when it came time for the IUI, the samples did not meet their minimum cell count (10 million motile cells per vial) and they were very good about giving me a partial refund (only because it resulted in a BFN unfortunatley).

There are many sperm banks out there..... xytex, midwestern, fairfax, california cryobank, northwestern. My best advice is look at all of them, also look at prices and what information you will be able to get from their profiles. My RE doesn't really have a preference. I do know midwestern prices are the lowest, if that is a factor. I went back and forth between Calif. Cryobank, fairfax and Xytex. I chose Xytex because I like to be able to see photographs and I knew some people that used them as well.

Best of luck to you! Whatever you decide will be the right choice for you!

I'm using Fairfax Cryobank. So far, I'm very happy with them. I choose them because they do vigorious screening on all of their potential donors. The only drawback I have with them is that they have very few identity release that are of minority heritages. I only found two African-American donors that fit my criteria and I needed a minimum of four donors to choose from because the donors I liked were extremely popular; therfore, I'm using a donor that has German and Swedish roots.

If your looking for a minority donor California Cryobank is a good place to look because their selection is extremely diverse.

I don't know about the best reputation, but we're using Xytex.

The thing that appealed to DH and me is that they offer both child and adult photos. We were able to find a donor who most resembles DH and that was very important to us.

Best of luck

We are using Midwest Spermbank (Chicago Area Midwest Sperm Bank). They are a smaller bank but they guarantee 20million per vial, they only charge $200 per vial, shipping is very reasonable and their customer service is great! They don't have a huge donor list but it's not small. I have been chatting on another forum with many women who have had success with donors from this bank and some of them have had counts of 30-65million after thaw. We are hoping to start IUIs in the next month or two. Good luck to everyone who is cycling!
