Gifts for donors

For those of you that gave your donor a gift, what type of gift did you give? I'm trying to figure out what to get mine, but I don't know what is a "typical" gift. My donor is also my sister, so my gift might be a little different than something you would give an anonymous donor. Does anyone have any ideas? I don't think I'm the most creative person in terms of gift giving, so any help is much appreciated! Thanks!

We gave our donor a care package for when she started stimming. It contained a book, ice cream gift card, chocolates, and an ice pack. We packed all in a cute tote that could be used again and again.

After our cycle, we bought her a charm bracelet from Brighton. The charms said things like "gratitude" and such. I liked the idea of a charm bracelet because it can express a specific thought through what kind of charms are on it. You can even pick out the charms to make it very personalized.

We also gave our donor a bracelet. It was an ID bracelet with the top left blank so she could have her name engraved (we did not know her) and on the back we engraved "forever grateful". I also wrote her a heart felt letter telling her how much her gift meant to us.

We gave our donor a white gold diamond bracelet that symbolized eternity and also wrote a note in a card thanking her for the tremendous "gift" she gave us. The nurse gave it to her after the retrieval.

Our donor is anonymous, but I do have pics of her and she is wearing jewelry in them. I ended up picking out a necklace from The Brighton Store near my house. (Thanks Kath, great idea. I love Brighton).

I was really torn with price range, style, ...etc. I finally decided on something that I felt was thoughtful, as it is impossible to put a price tag on something like this. I will be including a note from my DH and I as well.

I absolutely loved the care package gift bag idea while stimming, but blew that one!

Hi everyone, I have been reading all of your posts for a while, and just wanted to share what I have read on other sites from donors concerning gifts they received from recipients. Many people just give a beautiful card, others gave jewelry, gift cards, and several have received Willow Tree Angel figures. I think any gift will be appreciated from what I have read.

I want to get a gift for mine, but haven't decided yet, on what to purchase. I still have some time to make a decision.
If anyone has more suggestions, please continue to post them.

Just to update on what I finally decided to do for my donor... I made a gift bag up with bottled water and some gum & 100 calorie snack packs as well as a Brighton Bracelet that had small pretty hearts on it. Of course, I wrote a heartfelt note and placed it inside of a card for her.

Any expression of thanks is appreciated. My DC was surprised at my gift to give donor. She said most either didn't leave anything or just a card. As I told her, I am doing what I feel I want to do for her.

So, with that said, give what you feel like giving!

We wanted to give our donor a lasting gift that was in some way a representative part of us. I searched for the right thing forever and finally settled on a hand carved ivory (found) seal done by a prominent artist. In native cultures here seals are givers and holdrs of life. I explained this to her in a note. While we are not native we love the symbolism in the culture and it seemed to send the right message.
