Hi Maybebaby1 - My RE will do IUI's back to back in cycles. So, I if this won't work, I will be able to do another cycle next month. What I said was my RE recommends IUI's back to back, meaning if I trigger tonight (which I'm doing) I would come in Friday for one IUI and Saturday for another IUI. Since I only have one vial, they're having me come in on Saturday. I know it only takes one, but the gap in-between days have me nervous-I just have to trust that he knows what he's doing. Our appointment is 9:30 Saturday and DH and I have elected not to stay up there this time the night before (that gets costly too), we're leaving about 5AM and I have to call 2 hrs prior for authorization of the thaw and arrive an hour before the procedure. I was told I should be able to take a HPT around the 27th I believe, but will reconfirm that on Saturday. I will defiantly log on after I get home and let you know how it went. Good luck with your testing! I hope you have good numbers!

Hi!
I had my 1st IUI today, April 18th and all in all, it went pretty well-except for the 3hr drive. My donor count was 6 million. I was shocked to see it so low, but was told since we're using donor sperm and they wash it in their facility that anything over 5 million is really good and they normally only get 4 million from many other banks. The IUI itself took less than 5 seconds. A slight cramping, but nothing out of the ordanary. She had me lay for 5 minutes and DH and I were on our way back home. I take a blood test on May 2, that's a Saturday....so I'll more than likley take a HPT at home that day. Please send me some baby dust Say some prayers. ![]()

on May 2nd!! Now this is the hardest part...the dreaded 2 week wait! You might become crazy and obsessive, I did! Hopefully not though. All you can do is keep busy and take care of you for a while. I am shocked at what a wimp I am this time with the shots! I swear they hurt more this time around. I go in tomorrow to see how my follicles have grown and to do bloodwork. My estimated transfer is this Thursday. I am excited. Keep me posted on what is going on with you and if you need anything I am here for you!!!!

Maybebaby1: Hi! Your transfer? I thought you were doing IUI this cycle; forgive me if I'm a bit confused. Did you mean that by your IUI procedure? I hear ya on the needles. My right arm is so sore at this point, I've not had any bloodwork since Wednesday, but since the nurse kept poking at the same spot all this cycle, I look like a heroin addict at this point. I got some news today; my cousin who is 2 yrs older than me is 5 weeks pregnant. The news struck me hard and I really want to be happy for her. She knows that DH and I are trying, but in no way shape or form knows all the turmoil we've dealt with over the last 9 years. When she told a group of us in the family everyone was so happy and telling stories of how their deliveries went while giving birth. I had all I could do to stay composed. DH was really understanding and supportive on the way home. The thing is....she got pregnant the 1st month they tried. Had been off BCP since December and March was the 1st month they didn't prevent it in some way. Sigh. So, yeah...my 2WW is now underway. My symptoms today are a bit of the same as yesterday. Light cramping on my right and some on my left. Every now and then I feel a tug, but not sure if it's gas, <LOL>. Let me know how your follicle check went!

this month!! You will be next and hopefully I will be right behind ya! I went my DR. today and have 10 follicles growing. She said only some of them will actually mature, they are in size of 7-10. She said if there are to many, they will suck a few eggs out before insemination. Ahhh, I hate the unknown! Now my Mom was asking me today why we didn't just do a insemination at time of natural ovulation...and I don't know!!!! I just listened to the DR. and didn't question it! I have no fertility problems, do you know why they would have me do the meds and IUI instead of the more natural approuch? Let me know what you think! I love our conversations and your opinion. On another note..stick babies, stick!!!

Maybebaby1: Regarding the meds for your IUI; I'm not sure of your case, but in mine they have me do meds because I don't ovulate on my own every cycle. Your case could be as simple as your RE wanting to have more control over your cycle. I'm like you too, I don't ask a whole lot of questions, they know what they're doing. At the time of my trigger (Ovidrel) I had one follicle at 18.5 m (which was the dominate) and several smaller ones, measuring 12 m and smaller. All this was on my right and nothing on my left. I'm trying to stay positive, but honestly it's hard for me to have hope being I only had one dominate follicle and 6 million count after the wash-shame on me for thinking this but I feel if I stay low keel about the whole thing the dissapointment won't be as bad. These 2 weeks are pure torcher! DH and I discussed it again and if this cycle doesn't work next cycle we're doing back-to-back IUI's, meaning one and then coming in the next day for the other. I tried to tell him when we were ordering our sperm that our clinic recommends two back-to-back and he said then he didn't understand and now he does-geeeeees. What CD are you on now? When is your scheduled IUI? and to you too! I will be curious to see what your count is when you do your IUI. We've used the same bank and I had 6 million after wash. Xytex guarentees 15 million if I'm not mistaken (will do some research) but not sure if they guarentee anything since my center did the wash. Did you order washed or unwashed? We did unwashed because it would have to be washed at the clinic anyway-I didn't want to risk lower quality being double washed.

I know!!!! The two week wait is the worst!! Try to keep positive...it only takes one great egg!!! I already feel like it's not going to work and am so depressed lately. I have such a hard time staying positive after going through IVF and I was so sure it was gonna work and it didn't. I always thought I was a stong person but this can make you so weak! I was looking at IUI success stories on this board, if you haven't you should check it out! Some people got pregnant with 99 million sperm count, and some of 1 million. It's so hard to know. Did you pay the extra $30 for the best count from your donor? We did but like I said he only had 3 vials so who knows what it will be. I am very surprised that it was only 6 million. I am going to look on the website and see what they garantee. I also got unwashed because my clinic washes it also. If they have a garantee on the count and it was lower, I would for sure be on them about my next sample being free. But you don't have to worry about that, it will happen this time!! My clinic didn't mention doing back to back samples, I might try to do the same next time if it doesn't work. My husband would have understood that either. He was already dying that it was so expensive for one sample. I go in tomorrow to check my progress. They upped my dose of meds so we will see! Estimated at the beginning I would have my insemination Thursday of this week. I think it will be Friday or Sat though. How long after you took ovadril did you go in? I will check back with you tomorrow and let you know where I am at! Stay strong and try to be positive...and keep busy!!

Lisa-
A. This is a technical question for your physician. Basically the question is whether to order one or more insemination units. An insemination unit is 0.5 milliliters and is usually enough for one insemination. Some physicians use a single unit during the fertile time and others use more. You should also be aware that Xytex provides no less than 30 million motile (swimming) sperm per milliliter, the highest concentration provided by any sperm bank. Q. If during insemination my M.D. feels the specimen is of poor quality what do I do? A. Have your M.D. fax a Lab Manager at 706-736-9720 the following information: Donor #, lot #, date of insemination, date specimen received, patient name (if patient was invoiced), specimen evaluation. Consideration will only be made on reports received within 30 days of specimen arrival date. Q. How will Xytex handle a complaint of poor quality? A. The steps taken to handle your complaint are as follows: 1. A Lab Manager will first evaluate your physician’s report. 2. That Lab Manager will give her recommendation to the Executive Administrator. 3. Final decision will be made within two weeks of receipt. 4. Only specimens that are thawed within 30 days of arrival will be considered for replacement. This is copied from the website. Hope it helps.

Maybebaby1: Thanks for the info re Xytex guarentee, I thought it was something like that. I plan to call today or tomorrow. Please post when you find out your count. It has me worried. Xytex never ever mentioned anything about paying an extra fee for the best count. I dealt with Caroline when ordering. To answer your question, I triggered the ovidrel on Thrusday night at 10:30 (recommended to do it anytime between 6PM and 11PM, no time was better than the other) I was in on Saturday morning, 9:30 for the IUI. However, I was told every patient was different and my labs showed that coming in on day 2 after the trigger was better for me. Good luck with your labs. Keep me posted. =)

lisa-kev, Well I went in for bloodwork and ultrasound today and my follicles barely grew at all!!! They are no bigger than 10! They upped my meds on Monday and it did nothing! I don't have my bloodwork and instructions back today, but she said that last time my estrogen level was 47 and should be over 100. I just don't understand! I am mad and sad! I will let you know what is up after I get my call. Also I will definatly tell you what the counts are when I get them. I also went through Caroline, she seemed very nice. I am surprised they did not offer you the best count for $30. Hummm....anyways enough about me! How are you holding up?

Maybebaby1: Hi! What CD are you on now? 10 or 11? You need one of those tickers I have so I can stay on track girl! <LOL> When I came in for my CD11 workup I was still low as you, so I totally understand what you're dealing with. My nurse had me come back on CD 14 (3 days in between instead of their normal 2 day). I know you're hurt about your numbers, but if your a drinker, have a glass of wine while you still can and mellow out-it's not good for your hormones. Who knows, you might ovulate later this cycle. Are you a normal 28 day or do you get AF later? Mine typically runs anywhere between 28 day-36 day although last cycle (before my IUI journey) I had a 39 day-that was awful! How many follicles do you have at this point? As far as me, I'm hanging in there. I find every time I have a twitch or tug I analyze it. Who knows, it could still be some of the preservative fluid from the wash/IUI. Also, the prometrium makes me sleepy (a known side-effect). I had to stop by McDonalds this afternoon for a latte-something I never do. I swear, I could go to sleep now. Last night I did wait until 9, but it was hard. Let me know when you get your other results. I really enjoy "chatting" with you. Stay positive!

Well I got my bloodwork back and my estrogen level is still low and they upped my doses. I am disappointed. They said either it could change over night or my cycle would be canceled. That would be devistating to me. I will go in on Friday and we will see what is going on. I am on CD 10 now...I am a little hopeful that you took a little longer than that too
I thought it was just me! I was estimated to have my insemination tomorrow so it is kinda hard. I am very impatient! I do have regular menstral cycles..28 days. I am frusturated because I do have normal cycles and ovulate (have done lots of over the counter tests) and everything seems right. Now that the DR. is controling it, everything seems to go wrong. We will see on Friday what the results are! When are you aloud to HPT? I am excited for you and can' t wait to hear the news! Keep me posted!!!

Maybebaby1: Give it a few days, like me...I was a "late bloomer" this cycle, it'll be OK! What fertility clinic are you going with and where do you live? I'm in Maryland and use Shady Grove (Annapolis for workup and Rockville for IUI's). I was told I could have my bloodtest on May 2nd, but that's a Saturday and my OBGYN's office is closed and I'm not into driving over 2 hrs for bloodwork to be told I'm not PG, that would be awful. Not too sure when I can do a HPT, I'd assume anytime after the 2nd. I really want to wait as long as possible. I might just do the HPT on May 2nd and see what those results are then. What would you do? I'm not hopeful at all. One dominate follicle, 6 mil count, first try...doesn't sound good to me, but who knows. I'm just not lucky-ever. Besides, my cousin is pregnant, so that would be just too good to be true. I am really tired today. Thinking it's the progesterone, want to go to bed already. Too early for any signs I would think (4DPIUI). I'm planning on staying offline tomorrow and do some spring cleaning to get my head straight. Nighty night. ![]()
