Shady Grove anyone?
I'm doing DE with Shady Grove in Maryland (but they also have DC and Virginia offices)
I would like to be in touch with other Shady Grove patients from all three states.

Hi! DH and I are using Shady Grove; both of Annapolis and Rockville. My testing is being done at Annapolis and IUI's in Rockville. My RE is Jeff McKeeby. Our travel is a little over 2 hrs 30 min each way. Annapolis is closer so for my CD 3 I saw them for bloodwork and ultrasound. CD 11 is my next trip (Easter Sunday). My IUI's are being done in Rockville because the Annapolis office won't do IUI's over the weekend.

I'm in Columbina, too, but I'm local here. Doing DE, because after 8 miscarriages we got tired of the emotional rollercoaster....
We just picked a donor on Friday.

Sunshine,
I used to live in Howard County - Lyndwood off of 103. I monitor in Columbia because I am familiar with the area and always enjoy an excursion at Columbia Mall!! A girl has gotta shop you know!! That is exciting that you picked your donor! It seems as though after you choose you donor that things really start rolling pretty quickly! As you can see from my signature, I am beginning my cycle again after my donor ovulated through her Lupron. I am now looking at possible ET the first week of June. Good luck to you!

Sorry about your donor ovulating thru lupron. Hopefully this means she has very good eggs that just want to pop and get fertilized and grow into a healthy baby
![]() I'm splitting eggs three ways, so after picking my donor, I had to wait for two others to join - which happened very fast. Now we're all waiting for the donor to get her period which will happen around 5/14, and then we get the calendar protocol. The expected transwer date is end on June. Do you have to take a day off work for your monitoring?

Sunshine,
I'm glad to hear that you are on your way. I would have thought that doing a 1:3 would have taken some time to coordinate - thankfully that is not the case. We aren't doing shared risk so we opted to do a 1:1 - we hope to have some frozen embryos if (heaven forbid) the fresh cycle doesn't work so we can do FET. I hope it doesn't come to that but you never know..... I no longer work so I don't have to worry about appt. scheduling. We brought our son home from Russia and 5 months later I quit to stay home with him. I never intended to be a stay at home mom but after I returned to work after my "maternity leave" our son was bonding more with the care givers at his daycare than he was with us. While I was working I would only see him MAYBE 2 hours a day - I left for work at 6:30 A.M. and didn't return until after 6:00 P.M. Something had to give, so my DH and I decided that it was important for me to be home with him. I don't regret leaving my career behind. He is now a very bonded, well adjusted 4 year old! You have a daughter? Anyway, my son will start kindergarten in about a year and a half so the timing for another child would be perfect. I am hoping this cycle is successful although the thought of twins really freak me out! They have really been going around on the DE board! Do twins make you nervous also? I wish you luck on your cycle. I know you have had a very rough road and I wish you all the best! Who knows we might have appts. the same time in Columbia!

I am in Ohio and will be traveling to Shady Grove in Baltimore on the 1st. Would love to stay in touch with you during this endeavor. My best friend lives there so i will not acquire fees for travel except flights if necessary. My DH and I made the decision after having a bad experience in Columbus and also, due to the fact we found out they are years ahead with DE and infertility. We are hoping to qualify for the 25,000.00 treatment with guarantee and six tries if necessary. Good luck and let me know how it goes. By the way...I have Dr. Katz.

Rachel,
I have been very happy with Shady Grove thus far. We had a set-back with our donor but that was not their fault so we had to re-start our cycle. Which office will you be going to in June as there are several throughout the MD area? Hopefully, all of us ladies will be Shady Grove success stories! Sunshine, Thankfully, I didn't have to pay for another cycle when she ovulated through the lupron - they caught it right away and just stopped all of our meds. The only extra expense I incurred was for a 2nd lupron kit for my donor. Good luck with your cycle!

Just got my packet from them today. We will be going to the office on North Charles Street. I am very excited as the level of comfort is already greater than I have had for the last four years. I have since found many people on the web distraught over the lack of concern and care my current clinic has. They churn people in and out and they tend to like the "clomid quick fix" young women. I have asked them to check me closer, but they kept looking at my hubby. Never sat and explained anything in detail. They come into the room as you are laying their and shake their head negatively. The last straw was when they asked me for 20,000 for egg donor and said "Of course there are no guarantees...no clinic does that." I looked on the web when I came home and saw two clinics in Ohio that offer shared risk. (Up to 8 weeks PG and 50%) It was coincidence that my best friend lives in Baltimore and went to the clinic when she decided to have a second at 40 and it was not happening. At her most recent appointment she told the doctor about my struggle and he told her no one should have to go this long without a baby and he spoke to me on the phone! Hope it goes well for both of us. How does picking the donor work? What was the issue you had with the donor?
Happy we met on here! ![]()

Rachel38 - I'm still puzzled, how come you are paying 25,000 while I'm paying 29,000...
Here's how the timing worked for me: I had an appt with Dr. Timmreck in January. Then I had a phone meeting with the financial coordinator. Then we waited. After my period came, I started the "mock EEP" cycle. This meant estrogen shots every 3 days, starting CD3. After 4th shot, I came for ultrasound where they measured my endometrium. They told me to start taking daily estrace. After 5th shot, I had another ultrasound, and they told me everything was fine. Then I got to take provera for 5 days. And then wait again. It took 4 days to get my period Sometime during this cycle I also met the counselor. They gave me a BC pill prescription, but told me to wait until day 5 before starting it, because they want to make sure I completely shed the endomethium. Then I had to schedule HSG and mock ET (embryo transfer). They told me to do HSG first, and then mock ET at least 4 days later. I started BC pill on 3/18 HSG on 3/25 mock ET on 3/31 @9am same day, @ 3:30 pm I got my donor selection code This allowed me to login into the database. The view was limited to only donors that are in 1:3 program. I called the financial coordinator, and asked whether I was approved for shared risk or not, and how/when will I know. She told me I was approved!!! So I started looking at donors. I further narrowed down to blue or green eyes (because I have blue/green eyes). There were 8 donors with blue eyes and 3 with green. We looked all the profiles and wrote down the summary of all the pluses and minuses for each donor (things important to us) and so we narrowed them down to three. We gave them nicknames, because the numbers are harder to remember. We have almost decided to pick the "basketball player", when another donor appeared in the database (I checked it at least twice daily ) We compared her profile with the "basketball player" and the other 2 in our top-3 selection, and decided she was the winner ![]() We picked the donor 4/10 We were the first to pick her, so we needed to wait for 2 more recepients to hop on board 4/15 I got "second recipient on board!" email 4/21 we got "match complete" email Now we're waiting for donor's period, which is expected 5/14 This means ET should happen around last week of June. I've been on continuous BC pill since 3/18 - active pills only. It's nice not to have periods I expect the other two recipients are on continuous active BC pills, too. This should make it very easy to sync our cycles with the donor.
