Finding a Donor

Hello everyone,
I had my consultation this morning and it went great. Except we are AA and live in Iowa. So, my doctors office gave us a list of agencies but we first want to try and place some adss. Does anyone have suggestions on wording for adds and what to and not put on the adds? Should I be real specific or vague as to what I am looking for? Our clinic will put the adds out, I just have to come up with the information for the add. Thanks for your help.

Maybe it is just me, but I do not have any idea what you mean about putting ads out...for what? Thanks.

Donor Availability

So your clinic currently does not have any AA donors for you? This would cause me some concern when looking at a clinic because the process to decide who to use takes time and contemplation. (Characteristics, talents, background) Have you considered looking at larger clinics, even out of state, that have ample AA donors for you to consider? If it is not an issue for you then prayers and best wishes, but if you feel like your choices of donors are limited, there are larger clinics with established donors of all races. We went out of state to find a larger pool of donors as our local clinic had a seven month wait for ANY donors. Just a thought.

Frozen eggs

Hi Shanna, an idea I wanted to throw out there was using frozen eggs and traveling to a different RE where you have some choice. By doing frozen eggs, you could have things go pretty quick and easy (no need to coordinate cycles) and just spend a week near whatever RE you choose. (for fertilization and then ET) My RE has a bank of around 50 or so women, 7 of whom are AA. I can tell you that I have been impressed with this RE - great lab and great doctors. The only thing I don't like about them is that their program is anonymous. I have heard from some that having an open DE is preferable.

Something to consider?
