Frozen egg donor

Hi all!

I am currently cycling and will be thawing our donor eggs on Wednesday. I have a few questions for those who have used frozen donor eggs.

How many did you get? We will receive 7
How long did it take for them to thaw?
How many survived thaw?
Do the fert the same day they thaw?
Did your clinic do ICSI? Ours does
How many fertilized?
Did you do a 3 or 5 dt?

Thanks

Hi Reb,

Let us know when you get your fertility report! Our DE were thawed and fertilized yesterday. A total of six were thawed. All six survived thaw and all six fertilized (by ICSI). They'll call back tomorrow with another report to let us know if it will be a 3 or 5-day transfer, but the nurse said we have a 75-80% chance that it will be a 5-day. Feeling very hopeful!! Good luck to you!!

reb - I'm lying in bed relaxing after transfer this morning. We transferred one "perfect" blast, and were able to freeze two other blasts. Two more may catch up and be able to be frozen over the next couple of days. Our RE recommended only transferring one because the blast was such high quality and dh has reservations about having twins. So now we wait! It is such a source of comfort to have at least two frosties in reserve either for a genetic sibling or for another try. Please post up when you get your fertility report tomorrow. Wishing you great results!!

Oh, wow, I'm so sorry to hear they did not all fertilize! I had hoped you would have the same results we did. Just remember it only takes one! I'll be waiting to hear an update from you. Grow, embies, grow!!

Our beta is on 3/02.

clinic?

Hi guys -- I had failed DE cycle (problems after day 3) and am thinking about using frozen DE -- what clinics are you using and are you happy there?

I was thinking about RBA because I go to Atlanta occasionally anyway (I'm in CA) and they will do first consult by phone -- I figure just have to fax current RE fax everything over and I'm good to go!

I also considered there and another place in Birmingham, MI. I was lucky to find a clinic here in Houston who had a donor we wanted to use. Wishing you the best of luck...

MamaHeart - I'm so sorry to hear about your failed cycle. There are so many hurdles to jump over on this journey! We are using RBA in Atlanta. They have had much success with their frozen egg donor program. In fact, they say that their rates are the same for fresh vs. frozen, and the cost is about half for a frozen cycle. You may not get as many eggs, but you know the ones that you do get are mature and were hardy enough to be frozen. You also don't have the stress of synching up with a fresh donor and the worry of whether or not something will go wrong prior to and during retreival. If we could have afforded it, we would definitely have gone with the guarantee program. Our RE is Dr. Toledo and we have been very pleased with him and with RBA so far. He's very down to earth, takes the time to answer all our many questions and DH likes him as well (which is saying something). He did a few things during the transfer that ACRM didn't do when we did our OE IVF cycle. The office staff is friendly and although the nurses hardly ever answer their phones (as I'm sure they're busy with other patients), they do return calls promptly. RBA also has a huge donor pool and that was important to us as well. We don't know if the cycle was successful yet, but remain cautiously optimistic.

Good luck to you and please let me know if you have any other questions about RBA.
