Chances of this working?

Hi THere, I'm new to the boards. We're scheduled for an IVF early November using donor eggs. My doctor has told me she thinks I have a 70% chance of a positive pregnancy and is hoping for twins (still not sure how I feel about that as we have a 10 yr old biological son). Anyway, it seems that whatever info I read I get different answers. Do any of you know what the real chances are of pregnancy using young donor eggs? My husbands sperm count is fine. We go in for the saline sonogram next month, then I start bc with my Sept. cycle. Anyway, any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I don't think that anyone can totally predict what will happen but there is a general accepted success rate that there is a 70% change of getting pregnant in 3 IVF tries or less. I have never heard of 70% on a single try. It is an iterative process in which they try once if it works, then Hurray! If it doesn't work, they learn from your data, make some adjustments and try again. For more clarification, ask your RE to explain how he/she arrived at that number. For specifics for your clinic, check out the ART Reports on the Center for Disease Control website. They show all the reported success rates (always a couple years behind) for all the clinics.
Good luck. Soon you will have a baby growing in your belly.
