Karmababy-
!!! Congratulations on the great transfer and # of snowembies you have!I think you tested tooo early.... don't stress.... I felt all the same things you did, and followed the same med. protocol w/ PIO and patches. See my sig. for getting a + on day 7! I will give you a link to see when your body starts producing HCG.( I just posted it a few days ago for igloochic). Unfortunately, I m/c due to SCH being severe.... but it is rare for m/c to occur from that. I know you will have a great beta! Welcome aboard to a great and crazy bunch of guys and gals full of advice and information! Nothing is off limits here, so any questions you have.... ask away! Here is the link: What happens to embryos after transfer? Read here for info!

Hope- I totally agree that the dollar store HPT's are very sensitive in reading early HCG.... the reason I got the FRER one is that their dye shows up darker if positive... and I needed to SEE the dark dye line!
![]() The sensitivity level is the same! Happy Friday everyone!

Karma. When wasyour transfer? Sunday? Mine was Monday and really it's far too early to test ( heh heh though I do anyway to torture myself with bfn's)
Don't give up hope yet goofball it's way way too early!!! But if you do choose to do Excessive early testing like another goofball I know (me). The most sensative test is actually first response gold ( gold is important not the normal first response). Labratory testing has shown them to detect hcg as low as 6.25. Dollar store tests are actually not proven to be as strong as they advertise. Lab tests show them inconsistent and more typically only picking up at 50 levels (yes I'm so obsessive I studied labratory literature) so run out and get afr gold or ten and let's obsess together heh heh

Pack - Thank you for the PM. Karens - Good luck with the FET. I'm glad the follow up appt went well. Igloochic - AH, a girl after my own heart. I love POAS addicts. Godiva - We may be cycle buddies. DH came home last night from being out of town. It only took a short conversation and I was on the phone with the DC to tell her that we would like to cycle with the "star" donor. I am not sure of dates yet but we will get started very soon from what I am told. At this point I have not told my daughter but I will. She will completely understand as she is aware of the expense and risk involved. Have a great holiday weekend everyone.

Like Godiva and Hope, I also got my BFP on day 7 after a 5dt. I used a First Response also. Good luck! Igloo - Day 7 seems to be the magic day! KUP when you get that BFP!!! Jak - So glad you are moving forward with the "star" donor! I will be rooting for you all the way!! Jd - Hope you had a great time at the winery and that you had a glass (or two) for me!! AFM, still feeling good. No morning sickness to speak of (knocking on wood!). I just feel bloated and am pretty cranky. I have been having trouble sleeping at night so that could be why I am feeling cranky! I wake up at all hours of the night and can't get back to sleep! It is pretty frustrating - I don't know if it is due to the pregnancy but I have always been a good sleeper in the past! Anyway, I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and a safe and happy 4th!!

Karen – You’ve hit the nail on the head. Physicians are being taught to not to paternalistic and to try educate patients using non-directive counseling. This technique comes from years of physicians telling patients what to do with little regard to the patient’s life or personal views. In my 1st year course, we discuss a classic example. Data suggest that the likelihood of pregnancy loss following amniocentesis is about 1:400 to 1:600. Is this number a high risk or is it a low risk? What kinds of things would effect a woman’s perception? The mother’s age? The ease at which she became pregnant? What she would do with information? The likelihood that the test would pick up a problem (1:10 or 1:4000)? What does her partner or family think? Has she known other woman who has had the procedure successfully or unsuccessfully? Did she know a child with a chromosomal abnormality? How strong is her support system? The counselor who does this lecture stresses to the students how difficult/impossible it would be for a physician integrate all of these things and that the patient should be given the right to decide.
This movement has penetrated much of medicine. Patients can be asked to decide which treatment is right for them (e.g., prostate cancer will it be surgery, chemotherapy / hormone therapy, radiation, and/or watch and wait) or in certain end-of-life situations. I’m guessing if you’d like his/her real opinion, you could let your RE know that you appreciate his/her efforts to help you make a decision in a non-directive manner; however, that you value his/her experience and personal opinion and would like to add it to the information that you’ve been given. If you ask point blank, it is much harder to move around it.
