Hi -
Thank you for sharing your story with us. I admit I'm a bit confused... If I understood correctly, you would go through stims and ER. Then if they retrieve <8 eggs, you will donate all the eggs to the recipient and you will cancel your own ET. If they retrieve >8, you will "split" the eggs up and give half to the recipient and keep half for your own ET. What happens if they retrieve an odd number of eggs? Who gets the additional egg? How does the embryologist choose which eggs to give which couple? Have you been through IVF before? What has your response been like (i.e. do you have any indication if you'd produce <8 or >8?)? How do you work this out legally? Do you have all this writing in what you and the recipient signed? I'm kind of surprised this is legitimate, to be honest. I guess I see how it can cut cost on the stim meds and the checkups and the ER, though it seems like it could cause a lot of confusion in the end... I wish you all the best - I hope this new arrangement works out. Maybe your RE is on to something and is ahead of her time!
