Started Lupron and planning for Prog - Thoughts on Shots...?

Hi - I gave myself my first Lupron shot last night. I'm so glad I can do those myself. When it comes to Progesterone in Ethyl Oleate (PEO), that's a whole different story! Do you ladies plan to do your Prog shots yourself? My dh will be out of town for a month starting a few days after the ET... I'm nervous but I know it will work out.

There's a lady at work who's diabetic who I'm hoping will do it for me...my mom has already told me she doesn't think she's capable of giving me the shots. I am 100% certain I cannot do it myself. The only way I can do the Lupron is if I pinch my thigh, put the needle to the skin and slowly push it through the skin (sorry, TMI). It really doesn't hurt - but the PIO needle is 25g 1" - much different... Whenever I try to do the 'throw the dart' approach with Lupron, I chicken out! I'm lame, I know...

What's your plan? Anyone who's partner will be out of town during Prog shots?

Kristen,

There is absolutely no way that I would have been able to give myself the PIO shot. It requires some twisting around and ending up in a funny position. I gave myself the Lupron injections in the belly, but my DH gives me the PIO in my hips/butt area. However, there was an article in People magazine last year that showed Martha Stewart's daughter giving herself PIO. Apparently she gives herself the shots, no problem. My DH has not been out of town at all since we started the PIO. I had back-up plans, however, in case something came up. I work at a hospital, so I could go to empolyee health and have them give it to me, or my neighbor, who is a doctor, could do it. Have you spoken w/your doctor about this? Maybe they could help you out, or a local clinic. Rack your brain about it and see what else you can come up with. Will they allow you to give yourself the PIO in your thigh? Hmm.... I have not heard of that, but I guess any muscle that's appropriate would be OK. Good luck, and let us know what you decide to do.
