Weebie-I'm so glad that everything is good-that must have given you a bit of a scare!
Irena--that stinks, your OB hasn't given you an U/S? I 'm sure the time will fly and you can be reassured with your doppler. When will you get it? Kristen--enjoy your time off, I would love to be somewhere so beautiful right now. I go to see my RE on Friday for an U/S, then I should be released to my OB. Today I had to see an Endocrinologist. My thyroid levels went up and I needed to adjust my meds (I have hypothyroidism & take meds). The nurse at my RE's office gave DH & I a scare with telling us that my levels went up really high and that can cause brain damage to the baby and I needed to see a specialist ASAP. Of course we both thought the worst and have been worried until my appointment today. That nurse is so blunt and almost "cold" when she tells you anything. Well the Endo told me that the levels went up just a bit, which can happen in pregnancy and that it was not a big deal at all. He upped my meds and wants to see me in a month. I will be glad to switch to my OB's office, I just love my Dr and the nurse is great. Anyway, I hope everyone is doing well!

Evening ladies,
Hope all are doing well. I went to the OB again today with slight spotting and we clarified what I need to be concerned about. They were very nice and said anytime I am concerned to call but the doc said a little spotting is fine just make sure it is not like having a period. I sort of knew that but it is nice to hear from them. My husband has been so funny. He doesn't like me wearing regular underwear because it smashes the babies head  I laughed so hard. So yes now I am in maternity underwear as well as clothes. He was also very funny about the doppler. I told him it would probably be a good idea. After 3 hours of research on the computer and making sure it is safe, he bought one on ebay for $100. I just let him do his thing. He is so anal about everything. I thought that would be my job during this. Anyway hope all are well and I am sure everyone is having funny moments with this pregnancy. I really need to stop being lazy and start writing all of this down. Ok enough, have a good night and talk soon, Tonya

Who has used their dopplers? I can't find the baby's heartbeat and it is driving me nuts. What am I doing wrong? It said that a full bladder sometimes helps so I did that. I can hear my heart beat and all of the other sounds but not the baby.

Aliekat, I have the babybeats doppler, the one with the recorder but no display or printout. I had trouble finding it at first but was able to find it in week 11. I think I was looking too high up. When I found it, I started at my bikini line, right in the middle of it actually and then just slowly moved down and about an inch or two lower than my bikini line I heard it nice and loud. That was my experience anyway. I had been trying all over my belly and all I could get was my own for the longest time. I haven't used it in a week b/c the gel seems to get used up too fast! before I found the HB, I had used it 3 times and quite a bit of gel b/c I thought maybe I didn't have enough. doesn't take much gel though. Good luck with yours!

What do you ladies know about using a doppler when you are already "fluffy" My tummy is already big and after just loosing one of my twins I really need to hear A's hb. However, RE's office only has old machines so no sound

Tamtam - I was fluffy when I got prego so try what I did with the doppler. see below what i posted to aliekat:

I found the heartbeat using the doppler.... it was such a relief. It was between 167-173 beats per minute. I was doing it way way too high to begin with. I didn't realize how low it was!! Woo Woo... I am excited!!!!!

Irena- I know exactly how you feel waiting for the US. My ob doesn't send for US very frequently. He only did one in his office last week because I was persistent. He doesn't want to do another until about 20 weeks, which is crazy to me. The doppler has really given me peace of mind. Hearing the baby's heartbeat suely made me feel more secure with things in between these weeks where I don't feel the baby and won't be seeing him for awhile. I went to ER on Sat partly because I knew they would do one. I have a friend who works as a sonogropher (I am sure I killed the spelling) so she will scan me in 2 weeks to determine the sex.
I am sure you will feel a bit more at ease when your doppler arrives.

All this doppler talk is making me want one! I guess I'll have to look into it.

kimmy --time is moving quick. a client of mine has a 15yr who I met over the summer at just at 5mo (yes 15! UGH) she is now due to deliver in September and I though wow where did all the time go. CONGRATS ON CROSSING THE LINE!
thanks ladies for the doppler advice. I am now looking into getting one. I am not sure about purchase or rent, but DH & I will figure it out. Good news we chose an OB. It is a 5 person practice and in ansonia so not too far away, but I will get to deliver at my fav local hospital. They treat you like a queen I hear unlike Yale. One of the dr. is the head of obstetrics at that hospital also!! We will also get another u/s on our first visit so we don't have to go to long w/o seeing our little bit. Yipee!!! i have to make a friend out of a ultrasonographer so I can get the gender scan early...hehehe

Reena: I am also hypoT. I had the exact same "your TSH is too high" scare around 8 weeks. I was referred to an endo. The endo. switched me to brand name Synthroid & upped it to 75mcg. Had my BW rechecked on 8/18 and it was back to normal
I go back for more BW in 6 weeks. Be sure you are taking your prenatal vit. atleast 4 hrs. after your thyroid med. I take my Synthroid in the morn. and prenatal vit. at night just to be double sure

Tami, great that you've settled on an OB and hospital that you're happy with. You deserve to be treated like a queen. Good news for me - the place that's doing my NT scan had a cancelation so I'm getting it next Thursday! It'll be so good to have a peek! Just six more days ... Those who've had NT scans - do you get your results immediately or do you have to wait a while?

Rayne-thanks for sharing--I was on Levoxyl 100mcg and it was upped to 125mcg. I will be tested again in a month. I also take the meds first thing in the morning and the prenat at dinner time. Irena- That's great news, I bet you can't wait. Today I had my 3rd u/s with my RE and I am measuring 11weeks,1day. I was officially released to my OB. Yeah!!! The baby was moving so much! Arms and legs were everywhere-it was so cool. When I was preg with DD, someone told me to drink orange juice just before an ultrasound and the baby should be really active (and my DD always was). It may be some old wives tale, but it was fun to see such an active baby today. Have a great and safe holiday weekend everyone!
