Cool pic Scarlet! I am still disappointed that we couldn't really see Ethan's face yesterday. I guess there's something to the element of surprise though. She is beautiful!

That is weird that some doctors measure and some don't. It makes sense that they wouldn't with twins though. Mine measures, but he doesn't tell me the number unless I ask. He isn't concerned about anything, so neither am I!

Regarding measuring, I've found that each OB seems to measure a little differently. With me they said measuring is useless because one of my fibroids (the big one) throws off the measurements considerably... But, they continue to try each time anyway! I usually ask, but they tell me not to give it any consideration and that the ultrasounds are way more precise.

As long as they keep telling you that you are doing well, that's really all that matters!!!

My ob has been measuring me for a couple of months now. My belly is still measured even with twins. Because the measurement would be if I had a singleton. Thats how they know how much further your body can handle the pregnancy. Thats what OB told me.

My Midwife measures but doesn't tell me the number. This last time she said I was measuring slightly large. At the u/s yesterday the tech calculated that the baby may be alittle over 9 lbs at birth ... yikes!

Well, it doesn't sound like I'm really missing anything with the measuring. Thanks ladies!
We meet with the cardiologist this afternoon for a check up on Chance. I'll post later and give you ladies an update today.

I always feel like the bearer (sp?) of bad news. After my intitial thinking that maybe it doesn't matter with twin moms, I was corrected last night at our prenatal class. Doctors should be measuring because it can indicate on whether or not there is too much amniotic fluid which can be a dangerous thing. I'd ask your doctors, for those of you who aren't be measured, why? Maybe you're having enough ultra sounds that they don't see the need?!

Nervousness has just now set in for me. The first time this whole pregnancy. I have no idea how I am going to be able to handle twins, I read all the books but they are almost too scary. I know I can do it, and they are worth it, but two babies is so scary. I am sure this is normal and we will settle in but the unknown is frightening to someone who loves to control everything,this pregnancy has taught me a lot.

Mary- i will pass on anything that I find important for you Hun!! There is a good book by Dr Sears on raising babies and from birth to age two all the questions you might have are answered. I started reading it last week and i would highly recommend it to you...it was highly recommended to me.

Mary Kay- a friend of mine has twins and said "it's as hard as you think it's going to be but it's as fun as you think it's going to be too". I'll bet you are a lot stronger than you think and you will handle it all just fine. We'll have our days that we will lose our tempers or our emotions but that's normal. We do that without even having twins, right?! God doesn't give us anything we can't handle and at those times when you think he does; read Matthew 11:28 "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest"
Well, on the measuring- I have tons of ultrasounds so they are seeing the fluid and seeing everything okay. I've had so many ultrasounds now (because of Chance), I can show you all the baby parts...stomach, kidneys etc.

Scarlet- my next appt with the specialist for me and babies is 1/27 at 10:30am and our next cardiologist appt is 2/19/09 at 2pm. We didn't find out anything new today. We get to meet the actual surgeons at our next appointment.

Susan-Those were such nice words sometimes I just worry about the logistics, I have two hands and two babies that leaves nothing.lol I will have my husband and MIL for probably 2 weeks and then it is all me. I am so excited but the realization that these babies are going to be here soon has set in. I have a great support system and tons of people who would want to help, but I have to be self-sufficient because I am staying at home with them. Hopefully no new news is good. You have tons of prayers for you and baby Chance.

Mary- I try to remind myself that there have been many women before me who have successfully been on their own with their twins before and done a great job, so I can too!! As can you!! It is a lot to think about and prepare for but I bet once the babies are here, it'll be like it was always that way. We won't know any different!!
