Question question at end - advise please!!

Deanna You had your first baby in 3 hours? Lucky you (or unlucky you depending on how you look at it) . I'm worried b/c with my second I delivered at 38 weeks - they induced but I was not ready to go into labor - and from the time they started the pitocin till he was out was 6 hours. William was in between my second and this baby so.... With you I can see how you would be concerned - 4 cm already!! I feel for you - that must be uncomfortable. Asking them about breaking your bag of water sounds like a reasonable plan.

Maggie Sounds like you really thought everything through and came to a decision you are comfortable with.

Viki I'm so curious to see if your mother's intuition is right. We didn't find out either and I really don't know whether my baby is a boy or a girl. If I had to say I'd guess mine is a girl but I could def be wrong.

OK ladies I need advise. I'm freaking out. I started the antibiotics yesterday. I still have my sinus infection/ cold though. I'm hoping I just need to give the meds more time but right now I have a very runny nose and slight cough. DH and older ds already had this infection. Older ds is over it and dh is almost over it. My younger ds gave out 1 cough this morning and I freaked out thinking that he might be getting it. I'm worried the baby could get it. Should I ask the Dr about delaying my induction? DH says that by the time the baby gets home from the hospital our younger ds would be mostly better if he even is sick (which we don't know yet) and that I sound a little better (I'm not so sure about that though - my horse throat is gone, runny nose is the same). What do you guys think?

Audra - I can understand being worried about getting your baby sick, but remember that the nurses, doctors, visitors, pediatricians, kids in the waiting room at the pediatricians are all going to be around your baby too, and as much as we want to protect them, they will get exposed. Are you going to BF any? I know that if you are sick, the antibodies you are making to fight off the sickness are passed to your LO through BF. Anyway, that's just my 2 cents. I'd be so excited to meet my LO, and find out if it's a boy or girl, I don't think I could postpone at this point!!! I can't wait to hear if it is a girl or boy. Hope this helped.

Viki - glad you got a good night sleep finally! I've had a couple of good nights here recently. Maybe it's the calm before the storm!

I had decided not to bf b/c one of the meds that I need to take for my bp is not recommended to take while bfing. The Drs seemed to think it would be OK to bf but since there is not alot of research on bfing while taking this med I was going to play it safe and just use formula. Wish I could just bf easily - it would take a load off my mind right now. After my son William I'm paranoid I think. I know it makes no sense b/c it isn't like he just got a cold or something.... Thanks for the opinion - it does help. You are right that the baby will be exposed anyway.

Ok, I've officially broken my own record. I haven't had one minute of sleep in nearly 30 hours. Macie's having trouble eating and digesting and I'm payin' for it.
I'm so tired, I can't see straight!
Oop...she's crying again.

Hang in there! I know how hard this can be. Can someone come and relieve you for a few hours? You need to sleep a little.

Steph - I know how you feel..def. try and see if you can anyone to help even for 3 or 4 hrs. My dh is only able to relieve me a couple of hrs here and there. But it def. helps., he doesnt change diapers yet, so I always wake up to a dirty/wet diaper.
Now he is gone from 6am this morning until 2am on friday. Sometimes I get headaches and I cant see clearly either I think because I am so tired.
The funny thing is my dh told me yesterday when school is out his sister can come over and help. I asked him "help with what" Nobody is really comfortable because the boys are so little. They are picky as far as finishing eating and burpting. Which in turn bothers me, because I know I can just do it myself. I told him "No, its ok. I'll manage" ( I love her dearly too )

Audra - Hope you feel better, I would be the same way too.

As far as the vaginal vs c-section. I was back n forth so many times. Ob said we could go vaginal as long as heads are down. He thought it was the best choice but would do whatever I wanted.
Then I finally made a decision at 20 something weeks to go vaginal. So for 34 weeks heads were down. I said " I am leaving this up to God if he wants to me to go vaginal he will keep them head down. Sure enough 34 weeks baby B went transverse and stayed that way.
Ob talked about trying to manually moving baby b after baby a was out..NOT...C-Section was meant to be.
Just to make you feel a little bit more comfortable. As long as you get up the next day, force yourself to walk around, take your meds. It was ok. ( I thought it was going to be a lot worst) My edema was worst than the c-section how sad is that..

Deanna - I went 3 weeks at 4cm. I wish you the best. I hope you make it to the hosp. of your choice.

Scarlet - good luck at physical therapy.

Wow- so many babies have arrived since I was last able to check in!! I'm sorry for staying away. Things have been so hectic and chaotic for us. Chance had his first surgery the other day and it was so scary. We almost lost him. He's doing better today but still scared. You can read about him on a site we set up at CaringBridge / chancerademaker / Welcome.
Love to all you ladies with new babies and the ones still on the way!!!

Susan, Thank you for checking in and sharing the web-site with us. I'm sorry you had to go through that with the surgery, but I am praying for Chance that he continues to be a fighter and comes off the machines soon! I'm praying for all of your family as you go through this.

HI ladies,
LONGEST day ever. Raining here in Atlanta...again. BH last night 9 minutes, 9 minutes, 11 minutes, 10 minutes etc.. They're really un-nerving.

Do you guys know the criteria for an inducement as far as dilation/effacement. I guess I'm asking how far along they want you to be for a more successful inducement.

Stephanie: You poor thing. I can't even imagine. I guess I need to start imagining

Susan: I'm praying for you and your little Chance!

Hi girls!

Audra: Good luck tomorrow! I'm sure all will go well, cold or no cold!

Susan: You guys have been in my thoughts and prayers and I will continue to do so!

I left work early today and had contemplated not going in at all. I had a bad evening yesterday. I got home about 4:30, drank more water (I'm pretty sure I'm going to float away soon), and laid down on the couch on my left side. About 5:30 contractions started and were about 5 min apart. That freaked me out, even though they weren't painful and didn't last longer than a minute a piece... but they were close together. My OB had told me that if that happened, to empty my bladder, drink more water, lay down, and see if they go away. They should get better within an hour. So... I did that, and they stayed at about 5 min apart for another 30 minutes. Then I got up and ate dinner as I was starving. I followed the routine again and they were 5 min apart for another 45 minutes. I told DH I was going to go lay down in bed to get a different position than on the couch, and see if they went away. If not, we had a trip to the hospital in our near future... Well needless to say, after being in bed about 15 minutes, they did go away. Pfew... Today was pretty good too, I'm just tired now and in need of some rest. I'm working from home again tomorrow so that will be good for me too.

Off to go rest.

Susan I'm so glad Chance came through his surgery OK. I read some of your journal - how scary the surgery must have been..... Thank God he is doing so well. He and your family are in my .

Amy I'm glad your contractions stopped and you were saved a trip to l and d .

Barbara Wow this twin stuff sounds tough! Forgot to mention before but I love that in one od the pics you posted they are wearing the "I Love Mommy" outfits.

Lauren What I know about inducing is that they try to wait until 39 weeks unless it is really necessary. If you aren't dialated etc much they admit you the night before and put cervical gel on to soften the cervix.

Well I ended up calling the nurse at my ob's office. She said since I am on antibiotics for over 24 hours that as long as it's bacterial I'm not contagious. She didn't seem worried and said they might try to put me in my own room (no roommate) in the maternity ward. That would be nice. I still have the runny nose (it's a bad one) and a slight cough. Can't help but worry that it might be viral but we're going ahead with the induction anyway and I'm staying positive and trying to overcome my fear of something happening to the baby.

Thanks everyone for the good wishes!!! I'll contact Angela as soon as I can so she can update you. I do have wireless at the hospital so I might even log on at some point myself.

Audra - I'm glad you talked to the nurse and feel a little better about things! I'll be thinking about you and the baby tomorrow! Good luck! I can't wait to hear what you are having!!! I hope you get a little sleep tonight!

I had 2 hours of 5 or 6 contractions each hour. But they've stopped.... And my BP is up even while laying down - no other signs of pre-e though. I have a feeling that my OB is not going to be happy tomorrow, and I may be delivering earlier than next Wednesday.
