The same goes for hot dogs, regular ones are bad and the all beef ones are okay as long as they are cooked & heated. She actually said that some people eat them cold. NASTY.

She mentioned that any amount of caffeine is bad. She said a new survey came out showing that even one caffeinated beverage a day is not a good idea. I have cut out all caffeinated beverages so I basically just drink water, caffeine free diet pepsi, cran apple juice(2/3 less sugar), and an occasion decaf coffee. Prior to this I was a OBSESSED with Starbucks and now I have like 5 gift cards waiting for me to use at a later time!

I think I need to go to a nutritionist how do I go about going? Well now that the summer is over my hot dogs days are over. I only eat them cooked on the barbque. Until next summer.
But I do know I could eat better.

Barbara- My perinatologist recommended her to me. I think I may have mentioned this on the other thread... I had gastric bypass 6 years ago so it was a must for me. I wanted to make sure I was eating as much as I could considering my altered digestive system. I have lost weight (8 lbs) since becoming pregnant but they don't seem to be concerned as I had gained 20 lbs on fertility medications. I am only 12 lbs away from my lowest weight after my surgery. I just feel better about going and she will be meeting with me throughout my pregnancy and doing different types of bloodwork to check specific vitamin levels to see if I need to add supplements.

Patricia - Oh I am sorry, I didnt know. Wow thats great. I thought they I would able to go and have them tell me foods I should be eating and the ones to avoid. I am such a picky eater I dont really eat vegetable which I hate but I have tried and I cant bring myself to eat it. To me its like eating liver. ( i hope I am not offending anyone who likes liver.)
So I thought maybe they could give me some ideas to eating other things.

Barbara-Here all we need to do is either talk to our doctors or search the yellow pages...or even talk to our local fitness club and they give us the number to someone. I'd start with checking with your OB, that would be a great place to start.

Hi everyone! My first OB appointment went pretty well. I was there for about an hour and a half. What was funny was that as I was walking in, coincidently my RE was walking out! My RE had been the one who had recommended my OB to me a long time ago when I actually needed a GYN, and everyone was laughing about it today because normally my OB refers patients to my RE, not the other way around!

The first part was with a nurse going through my history including going through all the chart info my RE had given me at my exit consult. After we went through all my medical history, we talked about my morning sickness. She recommended a different prenatal, one that has more B6 in it. So I'm going to give that a shot and we'll see how it goes. Today was a bad nausea day, so hopefully it will help quickly!!!

I also got a huge bag and binder full of goodies including some FAQs and a bunch of info on cord-blood. I have a lot of reading to do! They also suggested a test that I'd do at 11 or 12 weeks which is the test for Down Syndrome. I'm pretty sure that's what you guys have mentioned as an NT Scan. DH and I will have to talk about it, as it's not mandatory and regardless of the results, it wouldn't make a difference to us with the exception that we'd be more prepared. One thing they did say is that the "rules" have been recently revised and NO CAFFEINE or TUNA FISH!!! The previous rules said 1-2 cups of coffee a day and light tuna (just not solid albacore). Now they say none.

Then my OB did a PAP since it had been about 9 months since my last one and she said she'd rather do it now than later when it's really "due", and a pelvic exam. I know I have fibroids, but apparently one has grown pretty big. It measured about 9cm at my last ultrasound (which the stims and the estrogen really made grow!) and you can actually feel it pressing against my abdomen now. It's on the right side, which my OB said is good as it's not interfering with the baby, and even though it's in the wall, it's not protruding into the uterine cavity at all which she said is also good. We just have to keep an eye on it is all...

Update on my due date!!! Because of my past myomectomy, I'm a "required c-section", so my due date is now April 20th! Unless something happens and I go into early labor, that will be the date our little one is scheduled to make an appearance!!!

I'm off to go lay down now before I hurl again... Sorry for the TMI, but I love to share with you girls.

I hear that the a vitamin lower in iron and higher in B6 really helps with MS. So, I hope this works out better for you.

We are doing the NT scan but, only because it is an extra u/s that is covered by insurance. The results won't matter to us.

I am glad that your OB appt. went well.

I didnt know we cant have tuna all together I thought just something like 6 oz a week. Now none at all.

My next visit I am going to ask why I didnt get a scheduled c-section date its seems like a lot of you have gotten a date already.
He said we will talk about it as the months get closer. He just said we are pushing for you to at least get to 36 weeks thats our goal. I will have to check on that one.

Hi ladies,
I had my second ultrasound appointment yesterday: Baby A is doing really well with a HB of 184. Baby B did not have a heartbeat. Of course we are very sad. I had a little pity party last night in bed. We're trying to focus on our little blessing Thanks for the prayers ladies.

I was released to my OBGYN. YAY!

Hope everyone is doing well.

Lauren - You are so discreet when you say "little pity party." Even though you have a happy positive to focus on, it is a loss and any pain or sadness shouldn't be discounted. Congrats on graduating.

Lauren - I'm so glad Baby A is doing so well, but I'm sorry to hear about Baby B. But now you have a little angel to watch over you guys!

DH and I talked about the NT scan when he got home from work. He's all for it, although we agree with Deanna and the results won't matter, with the exception of us being able to do more research and be better prepared when the baby is born. I like the concept of another ultrasound, simply because my OB said we'll get to hear the heartbeat next appointment (at 12 weeks) but our next US won't be until most likely week 20-ish. That seems so long away!!!!

I told DH he can go with me to the next appointment if he wants but that he doesn't have to go... he looked at me as if I was nuts and said he totally wants to go! I had told him not to come to this first one today as all it would be would be talking, bloodwork, and a pelvic exam. I think he was relieved he didn't have to sit through another one of those!!! The first time he saw the trans-vag ultrasound wand, he totally freaked and said "omg, I don't wanna know"...

Deanna: The new vitimins are "Natelle Prefer". It's a different kind of iron it says, and loads of B6. They also gave me some B-natal lollipops and drops which are vitimin supplements you get from the pharmacy but are over the counter. They basically have sugar and B6 in them too. I really hope it helps as I've already gotten sick twice today. I was starving so I just ate a scrambled egg and toast which hopefully will stay put although my hopes aren't too high right now...

Barbara: They didn't formally schedule the OR yet for my c-section, but said that's most likely when it will be scheduled and they'll firm it up at a later date. For singles they like you to go to 39 weeks, and for me 39 weeks will be on a Sunday (April 19th) so she said they'd push it to April 20th unless I go into early labor and then it will just be an emergency procedure. I'm pretty sure for twins they say they like you to go 36 or 37 weeks, and triplets is even less.

Also, I was surpised about the tuna too, but sure enough, that's what they said. It specifically states "avoid ALL tuna, as the mercury levels are varialbe. Limit other fish to to servings per week".

The one thing I was bummed about was it says "computers are safe". Since I'm an IT Manager, I was hoping for different results to get a bit more time off work!!! Heehee...

Lauren - I am so sorry to hear about baby "b". I agree with the other women, take all the time you need to grieve and have as many pity parties that you need.

AmyBeth - I am glad to hear everything went well today. You and I sort of have something in common - we are both in the IT industry. I am a systems analyst for our 2 local newspapers.

Good Luck to everyone else and try to enjoy the next approximately 6 months. April 2009 will be here before we know it.
