I got the bloodwork back from the NT scan and they're listing Twin A as 1-108 chance of Down's. They're rushing me in tomorrow for genetic counseling and a CVS. DH is Freaking Out.

I am sure everything is going to be fine. We had a 1:200 chance after NT results and had a level II US moved up to 16 weeks plus genetic counselling. I hope everything goes OK. Much of the formula is based on age so remember that. Our genetic counselor said if I was 25 then I wouldn't even be there. Plus, with twins the bloodwork is not as reliable since they put the numbers in and divide by 2.

Can I join? Can I join?
My DH and I found out yesterday that we are expecting TWINS. We had put in 3 frozen embabies and as of yesterday there were 2 little heart beats (that we saw and heard) fluttering away at 110 per minute. There was a much smaller 3rd sac without a heartbeat, but we do have 2 healthy ones!
We are extremely grateful and excited! Now I can move on to stressing about the possible looming storm. We live near Galveston and my hubby and I teach. My school closes tomorrow at 12:30 and we are closed on Friday in preparation. Megan

Megan-
to this group. You sound just like me and my DH we had 3 embabies planted and two took. It is the coolest thing!!Okay girls, I had my appt. with the specialist the other day and he told me I may have a girl and def. have a boy. So today I went to my regular ob and she confirmed I def. have a boy and a girl ![]() I am soooooooo excited!! Then my doctor said that my blood pressure was high and I was spilling protein in my urine so she sent me to the hospital for some blood work. Yeah, that was fun. I was their for 4hrs, and I have to take up my urine for the next 24 hrs, what fun lol. Then my doctor tells me she will probably put me on bedrest at 28weeks which will be the end of Oct. O-well I really don't care as long as I can keep my babies in to continue baking!! I hope eveyone has a really good day!! ![]()

Congratulations on your babies! I hope you are able to avoid bed rest and it seems odd to me that she is already telling you that it will happen at 28 weeks. I'm 32 weeks and still no threat of bedrest. Best of luck to you! ![]()

Ok, so after that big buildup and anticipation, genetic counseling and a restless night, they weren't able to do the CVS. Not for a particularly bad reason - the placentas are both posterior (away from the top of the abdomen) and so close together - fused - that they wouldn't be able to tell which baby they were getting. Soooo I'm scheduled for an amnio on Oct 1st. Oh well. Hope that DH will be okay until then!
They did sign me up for a new and I think exciting study. Maternal blood has some fetus material in it, and they're comparing maternal blood tests with CVS or amnio results. In the future they might be able to determine just as much from a non-invasive blood test as to a CVS! So that's cool.

Rebekah - I posted on the due date thread but I am suprised/excited for the study you may participate in! That is great!
I just got a call from the Genetic Counselor! The blood test results just came in around 4. The calculated risks for Baby B is 1 in 10,000 and Baby A is 1 in 2600. The estimated risk just based on my age should really be at 1 in 1300. She sounded so incredibly happy with those results and I have to say that my DH and I agree! I am truly grateful and hopeful at this point.
