tips or tricks??

I'm just trying to survive my day to day! It really is a huge challenge to meet their physical demands and when you think you have that down, then they want intellectual stimulation and then you know that you'll never be totally in control!

I was put on modified bed rest at 28 weeks due to onset of preterm labor. Had it stopped in hospital then went back home to 'rest'(how any mommy of twins does that, no one knows), then I went into labor at 34.5 wks, but really didn't know because I had no pain and the contractions never got longer or closer together. The girls were born later that night and were hospitalized for two weeks due to low birth weight. They were only in the nursery and not the NICU(thank goodness) and I would travel to and fro 4 times daily to breast feed one twin and take my expressed milk. My other girl was on a feeding tube for a week and a half, so it was towards the end of their stay that I got to start breast feeding her.

My girls are still on breast milk and I have enough to meet their needs. I love having time to bond with them while I breast feed. They don't take milk directly from all the time. I mostly express because they can't drain me yet. I pump about 16 oz every 5-6 hrs. The girls are still taking a dainty 3 oz per feed.

Oh, but I did make a huge mistake by not changing the nipple flow in stages. I completely forgot about it and my poor girls were on new born teats til a week ago! Yikes. Learn from my mistake!

Okay, that's all for now. Gotta go check on dinner...

Embrassing but..

How soon did you start having sex? Had my 12week check up Tues. and OB gave the go ahead to have sex but I'm so scared. Did anybody go though this and how did you get over fear? I'm so nervous because four years ago I had m/c two days after I had sex. I was 7wks along when I lost that one.
Any advise ?

We were put on "pelvic restriction" meaning no sex for the first trimester through like 14 weeks and then were told it was ok but that if we had bleeding or contractions it would be normal and that freaked us out so we didn't risk it. We were then told to go back on restriction at 22 weeks and we didn't manage to go for it during the two months we were allowed. So, amazingly and depressingly enough we have had no relations since January, wow and I imagine that won't change after the babies are born for a while - poor us, but we'll live.

It is similar to me - I posted this on another thread but because of spotting and then diagnosed with a low-lying placenta we were told to avoid BDing. That was continued advice at the last ultrasound. DH is going crazy though. Hopefully we get the okay soon!

I was put on you can sit in your recliner but you can't leave the house at 32.4 weeks, I lost my mucous plug and was having contractions that I couldn't feel, or just thought they were normal. Pregnancy and I did not get along. I had betamethasone shots to develop their lungs at that time and was on niphedapine to stop the contractions and stayed on it until 36 weeks. I had a complication free scheduled c-section at 37.2 weeks. I just didn't want to be pg anymore, my sons head had been lodged in my pelvis the whole time and I could barely move, he was born with ring around his head and a black eye from the doc having to pry him out .

We only had sex 1 time while I was pg, it hurt like a mother . It is all good now, it I don't think about my freddy crugar like stretch marked jello belly.

Tips - Hmm, if you can't breastfeed don't beat yourself up, I tried I failed the world did not come crashing to a halt. You will never have enought time in the day. Plan, plan, plan, and plan somemore if you are leaving the house. Timing is everything! Cry if you need to, they do, why shouldn't you? Be prepared to change how you think you are going to do things, it won't always work out how you envisioned it to. Costco is fabulous! I buy their wipes, diapers and formula there, bring on the savings!

Number 1 Tip: Get used to stupid questions! Are they twins? (we have one of each so this next one is pretty interesing) Are they identical? Are they a boy and a girl?

You will become a moving parade, everyone will stop you, when possible go shopping with DH each take one in a cart and head to opposite sides of the store, you will get out alot faster.

Thanks for the great advice! It is funny, I joined a twins message board but no one on there seems to really respond to questions or anything. Quite frustrating!

What stroller did you get?

Erin - that is funny that you said it hurt so bad - I was thinking that it would be pretty painful after I had my cervix checked with the vaginal ultrasound yesterday. My dh is a little freaked out about the whole thing anyway so it isn't that big of a deal to him. There was a time that I was pretty anxious but now I can't even imagine that being a desire!

Nurse - I'm sure Erin will answer but in previous posts when this question was asked a lot of people recommended the double snap and go at first just for ease and portability!

Ya I remember reading about the double snap and go and I am on the list to get one - however in our city (in Canada) they are pretty hard to find so I'm hoping I can get one! I am thinking of also getting the Mountain Buggy Elite or whatever it is called. I've heard pretty good reviews online but thought I'd see if any of you have any other recommendations for that type.

I bought the graco duoglider because I didn't want to have to buy another stroller when they weren't in their infant seats anymore. It works just fine and is really easy to use. I'm sure the sanp and go is convient I just saw it as another expense. Of course I had to eat my words there because we just bought a side-by-side stroller that is for super outdoor use . My DH got to pick this one because he is an outdoorsy guy and wanted something that would hold up when he takes them out. The graco works great for shopping .

Fossie - One of the main reasons we didn't was that I threw up for 20 weeks. I was so not interested then I had it more under control and only threw up every couple of days. I love Zofran if any of you get bad morining sickness ask for it, it won't hurt you or your babies and you will be able to get out of bed . After the morning sickness lessened I couldn't even move because of my sons big head in my pelvis, so poor DH had to live without the real thing .

Hey twin mommies,

We did the BD after release from re or right after 1st ob appt. I did have a bit of spotting afterward, but haven't had any since. I hear the 2nd trimester you are suppose to get this incredible sex drive, but I haven't experienced it yet. Being 20 weeks and measuring 26 weeks, I don't feel very comfortable doing the deed.

Thanks ladies. I have been lucky no spotting so far and the twins looked great at 12 week check up. They were dancing and jumping all around. I guess I will have to give in to dh this weekend and do the deed.
