Isn't it amazing how fast they grow at this stage? We took Lucas in for his 2 month check-up (he was actually 2.5 months) on Wednesday. He's now 12lbs 8oz and 24" long. It's unseasonably cold here now, and the only really warm clothes we have are 3-6 mo size. The surprising thing is that they are only slightly too big.

Sorry, I've been kind of MIA. I have been back at work at least part-time for the past month. Between the lack of sleep, bottles and pumping, I just can't keep up.

I thought that I would post a couple of recent pictures of Emily who is 2 1/2 months old. Big news...she slept for 7 hours last night! I was surprised because she just hit 10lbs. When she did wake up she was really hungry!

In the first picture, she is 1 month old. The rest are from the last couple of weeks.

She's so cute. I love the picture of her sucking her thumb. She looks so sweet. Remember that when she's 16. It's crazy the first time they sleep through night. Kind of makes you freak out and think you missed something. Luke's really good through the night. During the week, we actually have to wake him up so we can give him a bottle and get ready for work. On the week-ends he'll sleep in til about 8:30. It's really nice.

On another note, I think Lucas is cutting his first tooth already. He started drooling pretty heavily about 2 weeks ago. For 2 days now he's been chewing on his fist nonstop. I got a good look inside his mouth this evening and there's a small white spot where his lower front left tooth would be. This seems early, he'll be 3 months on the 28th, but I can definitely feel something there. Thankfully besides the drool and the hand chewing, it doesn't seem to be an issue.

His baptism is this Sunday. I'm excited. This was one of those moments I always dreamed about during all that time TTC. I still can't believe it's all finally happening sometimes.

Jessica - It is wonderful isn't it? I can’t believe that he’s getting a tooth already! Are you breastfeeding and if so how would a tooth impact that? I don’t know. I keep telling my DH that 16 year old thing. I figured out that she has only 190 months until she starts college! Yikes!

Emily was great during her baptism. She was awake and didn't cry at all despite the fact that they really poured water on her head. At the end, when the pastor held her up over his head to show her to the congregation she flailed her hands back and forth like she was waving. People in the pews waved back! I actually put Emily in two diapers (1 newborn and 1 size 3) to prevent any potential leaks on her gown. I hope that Lucas has an equally easy baptism!

We're bottle feeding, thankfully. I watch him knaw away on anything he can get in his mouth and just think "thank God that's not me."

He was good for his baptism. He gave the pastor this sort-of "what in the world are you doing to me" look. Afterwards the pastor walked him down the aisle so everyone could see him, and he was waving too. Aren't our babies so smart?

Kirsten, those pics are so cute!! I forgot we had babies on the same day...August 6th. I can't believe AJ is 12 weeks old already!
I went back to work last Thursday....ugh, it was hard. My hubby is home with the baby so that makes it a little easier. And I could not believe that 3 days before I went back to work AJ started sleeping all the way thru the night!! I'm talking 9 hours!!!!! He was still waking up at 3:30 am to eat and now he sleeps until 5:30 ish. Which is perfect for me to feed him the get ready for work.
I am pumping too and so far that is going good at work.
He has been eating 4-5 ounces 3 times a day in a bottle when I am gone and all of a sudden he wants more and more! So we upped it to 6 oz. per feeding. But I am not sure if I can pump that much during the day for him. So we may feed him formula just for one of his daytime feedings. I love coming home at night and seeing his smiling face.....he is probably thinking "oh good, that big boob is back to feed me!!" ha ha ha
Jessica - AJ is drooling all of a sudden too....I mean real bad! I don't know if it is too early for teeth? This must be the reason I got so many bibs at my baby showers!

I hope all the other August 2009 mommies are doing good and enjoying their babies. Give updates when you can!

( I always get frustrated trying to post pictures here, mine are always too big. Maybe I will try again tomorrow)

Lori - Emily has also started to eat more over the past couple of days. But for her it is a frequency thing as she's still into the 3 oz/feeding mode. A couple of weeks ago, she was giving us 5 hours between feedings at night, but now she's back to 2-4 hours so she usually eats at 12, 2:30, 5 and 6:30 or 7. I have a friend who is a Famly Med doc and a lactation consultant. She warned me that at about 3 months she'd try to eat us out of house and home, and that it would be associated with her 3 month growth spurt. I guessing that is was we're experiencing now. Emily's little mouth couldn't latch well as she could only the nipple in her mouth. Soe, we've been pretty much pumping since the begining. She sometimes will try to breast feed in the am. She finds it very soothing, but she's hungary very shortly after she's done. Oh well. I'm glad that all is going well. How big is your little guy? I'm guessing that Emily is still under 12 lbs.

It's hard to believe how fast everything has gone. November 9th will be one year since my ER. Now I'm reading up on when to start feeding Lucas solids and thinking we may start on Thanksgiving. It's crazy how time flies.

Lucas has moved up to the size 2 diapers now and is in 3-6mos sized clothes. He loves to stand up when you hold his hands, and he looks more like a little boy than a baby. Everyone told me that the time would go by before I knew it. I just never realized just how quickly it would be.

Wow! Lucas is a big strong boy! Emily moved into size 1 diapers a little over a week ago, and her 0-3 clothes fit her well (and some are bit big). I've started to hold her up so that she can put some weight on her legs, but she isn't really interested in it. That being said, she is a real ham. When I hold her up to the mirror she smiles and then does the shy girl routine...smiling all the way.

I have moved Jordan in his crib this week and he seems to do just fine. I give Jordan his last feeding around 11 o'clock and he sleeps til about 5 o'clock in the morning. Jordan loves to sleep on his side and that kinda bothers me a little. I'm afraid he is going to roll all the way over on his tummy. He also moves around the crib at nite and I also worry about that. I know that babies move around alot. Anyone have any suggestions on how to keep him from rolling on his side and from moving around so much.

All our babies are growing so fast. This time last year I was taking my round of clomid and I remember that the day before Thanksgiving was the day I got my bfp on an hpt. Its amazing how time just keeps ticking away.

Alexander had a period of time when he would move around a lot too in his crib. I would find his head pushed up against the top of the crib at his bumper. This happened for about a week straight and then all of a sudden it just stopped. We didn't do anything different. Alexander hasn't tried rolling over on his side or belly yet from his back so I don't have any advice to give you. Sorry.

You could try a sleep positioner. We needed to get one for Emily when she was a newborn. She'd put her legs up in the air and she'd flip herself onto her side. Because she was a breach baby, she really liked to hold her legs straight out. We were scolded in the hospital because she’d wind up on her side, but we’d tell them it was the baby. Now, that her trunk is heavier it doesn’t happen, but she still likes the positioner because it makes her lower body feel secure. The device says that you need to stop using it once the baby can turn over.

We actually tried 2 positioners with Emily. The first one was a memory form wedge. We tried it for one night, but it didn’t work because she was so light that she didn’t sink in so she slid to the bottom of the wedge. The first time she slid down inside of her night gown, but we didn’t know why. The second time we found her in a pile at the bottom of the bassinet, and we figured out the problem! I’m guessing that it would have been fine if she had weighed more. We ended up with a light breathable one from BabiesRUs.

Kirsty- cherish the time with your petite little lady. I already miss my little peanut. He definitely no longer has any of the newborn look about him anymore.

LE- Lucas has been sleeping on his stomach since he was 4 weeks and diagnosed with reflux. If he was on his back, he always sounded like he was choking. From everything I've read, once babies are strong enough to roll over and move around on their own, you don't need to be as concerned about them staying on their backs. As long as you don't have anything soft like blankets or pillows in the crib that they could suffocate in, I think your baby will be fine however he sleeps.
