Hello Ladies, I have been out of town these couple of days and just got back on Tuesday and just caught up on everyones post. I don't have any symptoms and it does scare me to a little bit. I'm just tired all the time. I guess with twins that is normal. I have one more appt with my RE and then hopefully I grad. to my OB. My RE said I might be a High Risk patient because of my age. I finally stop PIO shots on Friday and go to vaginal. Good Luck to everyone this week.

Prayingforbabies- That is scary I hope they just made a mistake on the measurements.

Then, today, I get a call from my Dr. R who said he had been reviewing the measurements taken by Dr. H. (Dr. R did the u/s the week prior) and said that according to the measurements taken by Dr H that my gestational sac had not grown. Dr. R said that the baby was measuring perfectly and my progesterone showed that the placenta was functioning great, but that the sac had remained the same size from last week.

AH! I am hoping this is just a measurement error. But, they want to see me next week to be safe.

Please pray for my sac that it will grow, grow, grow!

Prayingforbabies: This is crazy and just out of the blue. I pray this is just an error on the Dr's office part.

Prayingforbabies - I’m so sorry to hear about your clinic’s mix up! And I do think that someone made a mistake. I hope that you can get the issue resolved quickly.

Wishing2night – Twins! Wow. You’ll have to start planning in twos! I’ve seen some really cute twin things. Congratulations!

Becky – I’m starting to feel a lot better, but I’m still on progesterone injections. Outside of a little lower GI issue, I feel better than I have in weeks...almost not pregnant.

Karen – The chewable vitamin issue was interesting one. I’m glad that it became a null issue. I wish that they could get their information straight. Don’t they know it causes panic? I’m glad to hear that stopping the progesterone might improve my constipation.

Nicole – You are in a difficult position. I also take a class C drug (a classification for drugs used during pregnancy) for moderate to severe asthma. This designation indicates that very little is known about the drug's effect on the fetus. Prior to pregnancy, we discussed the drugs I was taking and dropped them to the lowest level possible. I won’t be going completely off of them because I felt that a very small but real chance of something very bad happening wasn’t worth the risk. I will probably increase my meds once I’m out of my first trimester or possibly second trimester as asthma often gets worse after 24 weeks. In my case, there is evidence to suggest that medical intervention increases the likelihood of having a full term baby.

I don’t know exactly how much I’ve gained. I’ve put on about 5 lbs since we started the BCPs, but I gained a bit with the lupron and the subsequent meds. I’ve got a belly at 9 weeks, but I also had a tiny one before we started so it isn’t really all baby. My DH and SIL both say that they can see that I’ve gained a baby pouch, and that I won’t be able to hide it much longer. I keep saying others might just think that I ate too many holiday cookies. I am having trouble fitting into some of my clothes and sleeping on my belly is getting a bit less comfortable.

FYI only - I found it interesting that my RE noted that I am high risk IVF patient. I would have thought that my age would have been my greatest risk factor; however, he indicated that doing IVF was a more significant issue after the first trimester than my age. He indicated that I will probably end up doing a maternal fetal medicine consultation simply based on IVF.

Prayingforbabies- I they just made a mistake. When I had gone in for my 2nd u/s, the RE told me the baby was measuring 6w5d. I questioned him, because I thought it should've been measuring a week later than that. He moved the wand around and looked again, and told me I was right, the baby was measuring 7w3d. I think they sometimes don't always take the measurements from the correct angles to get a true CRL or sac measurement. I hope that's the case with you. I feel like so much of this process is one step forward and two steps back. On the up side, you get another baby photo next week!

As far as symptoms go, I feel like I have been relatively symptom free from the beginning. I've had some mild nausea and occasional vomiting, but nothing to disrupt my day. I've been hungrier- I think I ate all day yesterday. And I fall asleep earlier. For a few days last week, I had absolutely no symptoms, and got really worried. My OB said it's completely normal, since I'm almost out of the first trimester. So, I'm going to learn to relax and enjoy the symptom free days.

Prayingforbabies, sorry about the mix up. Did you receive any pictures of your ultrasounds? I ask because typically at the bottom of the ultrasound they show what is called CRL, or crown rump length, this is the length of the baby. Next to it they usually show what this CRL equates to in days, or basically how far along you are/how far along you are measuring. You may want to take a peek at your pics to see. Typically the machines calculate the day based on what the CRL comes out to be, basically it just does it automatically. So maybe there was a mix up with the RE measurements?? Good luck.

Prayingfor babies, I am praying that this is just some mistake. It sounds like it may be a measuring issue. kep yourself as bust as you can in the meantime.

Becky, Looks like you are 2 weeks behind me and so you are about 9 weeks and I wanted to tell you that many women say they lose their sypmtoms around this time and I did the same thing, I panicked. My doc said that losing symptoms at this stage os normal becaus your body is adjusting the hormones earlier then some. Stay clam, you're baby is fine!

prayingforbabies - I too hope that it was just a mistake. I agree with Karen, try to stay busy in the meantime. What day do you go in next week?

Disappearing symptoms and then reappearing sypmtoms or even lack of symptoms can drive us all crazy. One day I wonder if my baby is even there and then the next day I am so happy to be pregnant. Then the day after that, I wonder if this is all still true and it wasn't a dream to begin with. I think I have finally gotten to the point where I can start enjoying everyday of being pregnant. Not that I wasn't enjoying it before. Trust me, every trip to the bathroom just made me that much happier because I knew it was my baby causing all of it. I just think now I can relax a little more about it.

Off topic and not intending to bum everyone else out today, but I already know this is not going to be a good day for me. At 11am, I will be leaving work to attend the funeral of a former student of mine. He was shot in the head Saturday. It is so sad because he was only 19 years old. He was always so full of life and was always able to make me smile and laugh when things got rough. He will truly be missed.

Noonoo,
I am very sorry for the loss of your former student. This is a horrible story and I am so sad for you and his family and friends. Hang in there!
I agree that sometimes, I am so worried and then next time I feel sick, I am like, wooohooo, yes, baby, that's amy kid in there making me feel this way. Its such a rollercoaster. I think in a few weeks, we will all feel little better, after the first trimester is done.

Oh and by the way, for those who were following my ordeal with the chewable vitamins, my OB said yesterday that he wants to take me off of them because they dont have DHA, so I asked why would the RE prescrib something that doesn't have something that is that important. You know how docs are an he said, in her defense, the baby needs DHA more in the seond and thrid trimester for the growth of bones and teeth. Docs are so cunfusing but I know I am going to good ones so I have to trust!!!

Thank you so much for the support! I really hope it is just a RE measurement problem like you all said. Last night, I had a complete break down and just cried and cried. This morning my eyes are totally puffy and I could barely get my eye makeup on. Whew!

My apt next week is on Monday 1/19 at 7am. I always like to have them first thing in the morning so I can know about my baby right away!

Please pray that my sac will grow and grow.

Praying - I am sure that it is just a mistake. As most of us have experienced they always seem to give you the worst case scenario. Not to say that you shouldnt worry because you will regardless, but I think everything will be just fine. It just stinks that you have to wait for another appointment. I think it is cruel to tell a patient something may be wrong with their baby and then not let you come in right away.

Klbaby - I was wondering about DHA. I get little newsletters from Enfamil and they talk about DHA and provide coupons. Do the DHA vitamins also provide folic acid and all the other things that prenatal vitamins provide?

Msnoonoo - I am so sorry to hear about your former patient. I will pray for his family and friends.

So here is the latest with me. This may be TMI, but it happens so I will tell anyway. My first OB appointment isnt until Monday the 19th, but I ended up going yesterday because I thought I had a UTI. I have never had one before but the symptoms were there and I decided I could not sit and wait until Monday. So I go in and they go ahead and take blood for my 1st OB appointment that every patient has to go through and they do a urinalysis. They said there isnt much lukotrysomething in my urine so its not a UTI. I talked to the doctor and she did an exam and tested the swab for other things (not sure what they were) and it was negative. She just said that with the change in hormones I could just be having symptoms of UTI. I was like so theres nothing you can do and she just said while you can take antibiotics when pregnant we dont want to give it not knowing what is wrong. She went and looked at the slide under the microscope and it was a yeast infection. She said that is classic for pregnancy and so women have it their whole pregnancy....I hope that is not me. She said I could just use over the counter stuff and itwould be ok. I have also looked on the internet and people have done the same thing and everything was fine. I am not too worried about it because it does not go into my bloodstream, but it is still in the back of my mind. Has anyone had this issue or heard of the medication being ok to use while pregnant?
Other than that little issue I have been feeling good. I got to hear the HB while I was there yesterday.

I used to be prone to yeast infections, and my doctor always prescribed Diflucan. It's a one time pill that works really well, unfortunately, it's on the banned list for pregnant women. I did read where it's ok to take monistat- the over the counter cream. I'm allergic to it, and the area where it has to go swells like a balloon (TMI, sorry). I know yeast infections are uncomfortable, and can turn into something worse if left untreated. So, if you're going to try the monistat, I'd recommend getting the seven day dose, so your getting less amounts of the med at a time. That way, if you're going to have a negative reaction, it might not be as severe. Hopefully, this won't be a recurring problem throughout your pregnancy.

Jess - I certainly hope you do not end up with an infection if you swell. That is awful. I did get the 7 day dose. The doctor said the 1 or 3 day dose doesnt work as well, but I figured, like you said, that the longer the dose the less amount at once. It still kinda worries me but it sounds like it is common and will not hurt anything. I already feel better though. I too hope that this will not be a recurring problem because it is not anything anyone should have to experience when pregnant or not pregnant. Luckily it is only a mild case.

Karen - Thanks for the information. I am going to put that on my list of questions for my OB on Monday.

Heart

Hey Girls,
I hope everyone is doing well. I haven't posted in a day or so because I have been feeling miserable still. I am fighting with my insurance company to cover more of my Zofran. They limit me to 24 pills every 25 days. And I take 3 a day! They end up being about 15 dollars a pill without insurance and I am out of them in 3 days... eek!

Also, I wanted to ask you guys a few questions that I have been wondering about...
1) Has anyone had any issues with incontinence yet? (I know it is TMI- I'm sorry!!!) Everytime I vomit, I urinate- to the point where a pad does not do the job... I am thinking I need to get depends!!! This is terrible, I thought the incontinence part was supposed to come AFTER labor!
2) Has anyone noticed an odor of ammonia in their nose? I have this metalic/acidic smell of ammonia that I smell constantly and I am wondering if it is associated with any medications or raised hormones... I have a dr's appt on Monday, so I will ask then too- but I wanted to ask you ladies too (b/c you give me lots of good information!!!)

So now that the TMI session is over-
Praying- I know that when they do the Crown Rump Length, it always seems so arbitrary where they put the little tic marks. The sac is so small, a tiny mistake that they make in measuring could make a weeks difference in what the growth is. Don't worry- I know your little one is just fine!

Noonoo- I am so sorry about your student. It is terrible to experience such a tragedy like that. You and his family and friends are in my prayers and thoughts!

KLbaby- I am always wondering about the DHA... I got some samples of just the Enfamil DHA supplements, but I have not taken them because I am on pill overload right now. I would love to find a vitamin that has all of that stuff (as well as a stool softener included in one pill!) I always think it is funny how the doctors talk about one another when you are switching from RE to OB. They don't want to blatantly say that they think they are right and the other is wrong, but you get that idea anyways most of the time from what they say! :-)
