Candi - those pics are adorable! you look great!

springtime - we're thinking of and praying for you and your LO! don't worry about the nursery and stuff. all the necessities will come as needed. just get dh to pick up a carseat and you're all set.

tami - maddie looks so happy in your arms! that must feel wonderful.

bitsniu - so glad the GD test came out clear! what good news!

jax, sunshine, and cathi - it must feel great to know your date! hooray!

spunky - i'm taking vitron c, vitamin c + iron supplement; the vitamin c is supposed to help with absorbtion. my tummy is still pretty sensitive, but if it helps with a healthy baby and pregnancy then i'll deal.

oh and by the way, spunky and sheri, i'm in maryland too! i'm in the dc suburbs. spunky did you check with your doc about the shots? my regular doctor's office had the regular flu vaccine as well as the h1n1 and i was easily able to get it through them. also our county is giving it out to kids for free; i wonder if other counties have special supplies for kids and pregnant women.

about breastfeeding: i'm planning to be home with baby so i'm going to give it a try and do my best, but my mother was not able to breastfeed any of us for very long. MIL had similar issues. there's no guilt here. if i can do it, great. if i can't (because of production or logistical issues), then no biggie. i am going to try to get her used to both formula and breast milk, if possible, so that there are options in case of emergency.

Thanks pumpkin - I had read that drinking orange juice or eating oranges/grapefruit with vitamins and iron supplements would help with absorption. I'll have to make sure that I do that each morning

I am in the Baltimore suburbs! Small world.

My Dr. has not received the H1N1 - they do have the flu shot, but I had to go to Minute Clinic to get it because of my insurance requirements.

With the H1N1 I'm really more nervous about possible side effects or long term effects. I'm just not a big vaccine person honestly. This is the first and only year I've ever received the flu shot. I'm probably being paranoid, but I just want to make sure I know all the facts. I searched out a seasonal flu shot that was in single doses specifically because of the research I had found on Mercury and preservatives. I'm afraid to take Tylenol with this pregnancy, much less get a shot that has only been out for a few months.

Sigh. I will probably get it eventually here, if I can find somewhere that has it for more than 20 seconds. The few places I've looked into, have run out in record time, and they were limiting it to kids and pregnant women. We'll see. If I'm meant to get the shot, it will happen... just like everything else in this journey!

My nausea is coming back at weird times. Anyone else having this? It seems to come randomly with no warning. I'm wondering if anyone has found an association with certain foods or sugar levels maybe? I guess I need to do some more reading

Just checking in. Not many changes over the last 3 days but I am starting to feel the contractions even though I'm on medication to stop them, so im really getting a little bumbed. I made 29 weeks today but am doubtful I will make it much longer. Also it's so freakin uncomfortable in this bed too! I can't sit up for more than a few minutes and my back hurts like crazy from being on my side constantly. Tami- you are amazing for doing this for 3 weeks!!! Well I'll try to check in occasionally and hope to be still laying here for the next week....or longer if we're lucky

Spunky -- I know EXACTLY how you feel! I had/have the same reservations about the H1N1. I don't like taking extra meds and vaccines. This was my first year ever getting the regular flu vaccine as well. Even that I kept putting off. But I'm a teacher, and it was like, every day there was another case. People around me were getting worried and were more confident that the right thing to do was get the shots. I talked to the regular doc and the OB. And then I just went for it.

Springtime -- you're doing great! You and your LO are in my prayers.

PS Spunky, I've been experiencing nausea off and on for the last few weeks. Sometimes it's right as I wake up (in the morning or from a nap). Othertimes it's just as I'm eating. I think part of it may be that my stomach and related organs are all squished up and can't handle the return of my appetite. I've also heard (I think someone in this thread mentioned) that the crazy hormones in the 3rd trimester can cause this. I think I'm going to have to be more careful and be more conscious about having small, more frequent meals.

Springtime- We are all praying and thinking of you. You can do this. I know it is hard but every hour and every day is so precious. Here are some ideas to make your stay more comfortable.
- Have DH pick up an egg crate foam mattress. It was truly a life saver and helped absorbed some of the discomfort on my back and hips.
- Place 1-2 pillows under each hip and have one hip tilted more than the other. It provides a little extra cushion. Plus, when you turn on your side, it allows for a little back support and hip support by using them like boppy pillows between your thighs.
-Place pillows under your feet up near your knees it helps deepen the pose in a comfortable manner.

I was big on making them put in full trendelenburg (or however you call it.. I just told them to put me upside down. lol) to make gravity help me as much as possible.

I became an addict of court tv while I was in the hospital. There wasnt much else to do. lol!

29 weeks is great! I believe you will make it to 32! You can do it!

I'm enjoying the pictures!

I failed my one-hour glucose test yesterday. I was 176 which is over the 140 cut-off. I had a feeling I was going to fail it since I'm over 35 and overweight. Not to mention I've been hypoglycemic most of my life. I'll be doing the 3-hour test on Wednesday. I'm a little bit nervous about it. Not of the results because there's not anything I can do to change that, but of what may happen during the test. The concentration of glucose is twice that of the one-hour test and I will not have eaten for at least 9 hours. I already know that sugar early in the morning or on an empty stomach is not a good thing for me. I get lightheaded and shaky.

I've gained one pound, so they say (my scale says differently) since my last visit, but I am still under my pre-pregnancy weight by about 4 pounds. My doctor suggested that I get some protein shakes or protein bars to supplement so that I can gain more weight. My pastor's wife can tell that I've "lost" weight, and I had a lady at Verizon tell me yesterday that I was small (to be due in January). In one sense, it's nice, but I don't want to compromise the baby's health.

I have a slight cold. I started getting the sniffles after my doctor appointment, and worried that maybe the H1N1 shot caused it, but I think maybe I've been trying to get sick this week, anyway. I was really tired on Monday-Wednesday. I can tell I'm congested and I have a little bit of a cough. I'm taking extra Vitamin C plus one zinc tablet each day.

My 3D ultrasound is today (2 more hours) -- just like several of you -- and I'm really excited about that. They have the option of recording what we say (to go on the DVD) while we watch the ultrasound, but I don't think I'll do that. I don't want my coughing on there for all time. I had hoped to get my mom to watch it live, but no one in her area (that I know) has broadband internet, and the one cousin that does lives an hour away and she's nervous about finding the place. She's just going to have to wait for the DVD.

~Mrs Kinsey~~ Sorry about failing the 1 hr test, hopefully the 3 hr wont be that bad....Congrats on your 3d U/S...I can't wait to see all the pictures I know a few of you are doing that today...very exciting.

Well I was able to get the flu shot and H1N1 today...So was DH....We ended up at Walgreens of all places....They had it, although there were being very strict on who received it. My DH got it because he is a police officer..but they had to check to make sure that was on the list of approved professions...

I am just happy that I don't have to worry any more about when its going to come in...Other than that, I am starting to nest like crazy..I am finally cutting tags and attempting to wash all of Megyn's clothes. Its going to take me a few days, she has a pretty big wardrobe already. OH and I had a real contraction last night,,,,I remembered how much I do not like them and am glad I am having a c section I believe it was because I was dehydrated...I drank 2 bottles of water and layed on my left side..they went away....Ahhhh thank god no trips to L&D yet

Hope everyone has a great weekend...

Tami~~ Anything in the mail yet???

We had fun at the 3D place! At first the baby (who is still a girl!) kept her arms in front of her face and was hiding. She finally did move them, and we got some good pictures. You can see them at: Kinsey Family Blog: 3D Ultrasound Pictures of Baby!

I love your 3D photos!

I was just uploading my favorites to Walgreens.com so I can pick up prints in a little while. They did a popup showing an 8x10 collage of my 7 prints! I was able to shuffle the pictures (random shuffle button) to make the ones that I wanted bigger and also choose a border color (pink!). I will hang this up in the baby's room. I also want to do a shadow box of her newborn momentos.
