Holi - You should be able to explain to the OB office that you just went through a successful IVF and give them your transfer date. They can figure out the date that your last period would have been from that date. Sometimes front office medical staff can be real idiots.

bits - So happy to hear that you had good u/s results too this week!

Kay - I'm sending "growing thoughts" to B. Are you still feeling well?

Schum - I hear you about PIO. My butt looks like a war zone.

2Pups - So sorry to hear that you are still experiencing m/s. I guess you don't want to hear about how I'm feeling great and still don't have any more morning sickness.

AFM - I got the official word that I can finally go down to one PIO shot a day. Yeah! I guess my RE is being extra cautious because of my m/c last cycle. I won't graduate to my OB until July. My RE sees patients through the first 12-weeks before they are released. I kind of feel behind you gals that are going to the OB already. I actually feel pretty good, but still get tired off and on. I went to bed at 9 p.m. last night and slept straight through. Making babies is hard work!

Thanks ladies for the kind thoughts. I know it is way to early but....we went to dinner at my mom's tonight and her and my dad and dh were all talking about what they think the baby is, mom and dh say girl and dad says he has no clue and doesnt care as long as me and the baby are ok and I kinda think maybe a boy. Does anyone know with IVF if there is a higher rate of boys or girls born. I read both but wondered if a 3dt vs 5dt altered the results. Just a though. Anyone have any feelings on what you all are having. We are NOT going to find out, I think there are not enough surprises in life (especially with IVF). So share your thoughts . ers for all!

Schum & jdw - I did tell the receptionist that I was an IVF patient and my ER was on 5/4. (I've heard to go by your ER b/c that would have been day you “ovulated” and the egg was fertized – if it was a normal conception.) So she is going by that and I have my 1st two appointments scheduled. I still can’t wait for my u/s – it’s a week from today.

Dee – Yay to the 18th. I just wish it would come sooner.

Bits – Not sure if we’re going to find out. I was always set on finding out, but my friend (who had her baby in May) didn’t find out and it was very exciting. But on the other hand, I don’t know if I could take it. I’m not very good at secrets, presents, surprises – stuff like that. So, I guess we’re still torn – but we have time. DH and I both want a boy. (Of course we want a healthy baby and a girl would be fine – but we want a boy.)

Amanda – how r u feeling?

Holi---thanks for asking. I'm feeling pretty good. Just mild cramps here and there. I wish I had some spotting or something that I know is normal during implantation but not much going on. It's gonna be a long week till next Thursday for my beta.

I was gonna post and tell you that giving them your ER date is exactly right. They calculate your due date by counting back two weeks before ER and then counting up 40 weeks so they will be able to figure it out by that.

I'm planning to go to a high risk practice who also takes low risk patients so I know that they get you in much sooner than most OB practices so I think they will see me at 8 weeks so I'm gonna call as soon as I get my positive beta since I am a new patient and it may take a few weeks to get in. My clinic said they schedule an u/s two weeks after beta so that would be 6 weeks and then if my new OB's office sees me at 8 weeks that would be just two weeks later so that makes me feel good cause I have a sneaking suspicion that I'm gonna worry this whole pregnancy even though I'm gonna try not to. What a roller coaster ride this is!!!

I'm glad you all are for the most part feeling good and seeing your babies on u/s. Sorry for those of you with severe m/s and other issues. I just wish we could all have easy pregnancies after we've tried this hard to get pregnant!

I had an important conference call for work today and had the opportunity to tell my "big" boss that I'm pregnant. My direct manager already knew that I was going through IVF and I told her that I was pregnant last week. As I expected, my news was warmly received by my big boss, who offered his congratulations (he is a dad and has three kids, which I think makes a difference). Thank goodness I work for a very family-oriented company! Has anyone else told co-workers yet that they are pregnant? I decided now was the time, they'll be able to tell soon anyway.

Bits & Holi - We found out the gender of my son at the 20-week ultrasound. This time because I'm AMA (advanced maternal age - boy I hate that term, it make me sound so old), I will more than likely have an amniocentesis done between weeks 15-17. In addition to ruling out Down Syndrome, I'm pretty sure that you can request that they also test gender, which is supposed to be very accurate. So I think that is when we will probably be able to find out this time. I'm big on planning ahead, so it would drive me too crazy to wait and be surprised. There are some "fun" gender predictors online that you do like the Chinese one. They probably aren't too accurate, but they are fun to do. Since they only give you one gender, I don't know how it's supposed to work for twins. Here is the link if you want to try it: Predict Your Baby's Sex.

I thought I would check in with you ladies real quick. I had to call off my u/s with RE tomorrow because traveling 5 hours is not going to work with all the IV's/meds. I ment to ask how long to do prog and get a refill if it is much longer, but forgot.

Bit-I have always been told that girl sperm swim faster than boy sperm, and it makes the odds in the real world about 60% girl and 40% boy. In IVF the odds of girl is a little higher because the fastest swimmers get there first and the egg is sitting there. In the real world the egg could drop later after the girls swim by. I also read that some men produce more of one sperm than the other geneticaly. We always find out what we are having because I like doing the nursery to gender. I feel like the real suprise is not the gender, but what they look like. It is the coolest suprise when they come out and you finally get to see them. That is surprise enough for me. If this would have been a singleton, we were not going to find out, but twins really makes it a need to find out. I don't think we could come up with four names for just in case either way.

Arich-It sounds like you are all ready. I love a girl with a plan. I can't wait for your beta.

JDW-Wow, your butt is going to love you. One shot a day will seem like nothing. Do you have spots on your butt that are numb now? I do, and really encourage DH to get it there.

Holi-DH and I both wanted a Girl the first time, and got a boy. What an amazing surprise. He was way more than I ever dreamed of, and then some. I love Trinity, but very happy to have had her second, which was not my plan.

Pups-I am so sorry for m/s. I hear you sister, and trust me the ride is horrible. As I sit here with IV's pumping.

Bits- We will find out the sex of the babies as soon as possible...I look at it as we will be very surprised--just earlier. I think it will make things run a lot smoother as well... will be able to plan and get clothes and things ahead of time... we do not have a single baby item in the house...let alone two. I plan on buying a lot used...on craiglist. Afraid to buy anything yet.

No one knows-- we are yet.... almost blew it yesterday when I was at my m & d house and had one of my dry pukes. I keep pushing it back ... we were going to tell after the last u/s ...but now think after the next u/s on the 18th... we leave to go on a family vacation on the 19th... and I think it would be hard to hide it for a week while staying in a house with everyone. I am afraid of losing a twin... and no way I can say we are having a baby without saying we are having two... they say after 10 weeks the twin normally is somewhat safe... we will be 9 weeks when we tell...on the 19th.

Amanda glad you are well... I had no spotting at all...shoot I had no signs until this pukey stuff.

jdw- how old are you?

schum- thought it was that the male sperm swam faster but the female was stronger, slower and lasted longer. Slow and steady wins the race... fast and die fast...don't think it matters if you do ICSI.
-- I was thinking about going for an IV last night... I think I am having an issue with low sodium- dehydration again...

think we must be having 2 boys---only boys would do this to their mother!

Lisa have we heard from you lately?

jdw- said I am having a boy... but really think we are having a boy and a girl because one has been a lot slower the whole way... one was full blast well before the other one... as long as they are healthy ... I'll take whatever I can get.

My b and sil had a scare and a test came back that their last baby had down syndrome... after a lot more tests the baby is fine... but we were going to take the baby if it had down syndrome... my sil was going to terminate it... so not wishing for it but think I could handle it if we had ds.... don't think I would ever terminate...well...maybe if had no brain or heart or something major...

I'd try purchasing on line. I know they have websites where you can purchase hard to find candy. I haven't had any specific cravings, I'm just hungry a lot. But yesterday, I did go to the drive thru at Sonic because I had to have a cherry limeade. It was SO good!

Dee---good luck on finding the candy hearts! I hate them so I never look for them!!!

Forgot to mention that we will definitely find out the sex (or sexes)! I am way to much of a planner and don't like surprises that much to wait that long!!! I always wanted a boy first so I'll probably have a girl! LOL But I also always wanted a boy and a girl twins!!!

schumachm---thanks for the compliment...I feel like all I can do is plan right now since I have nothing else to do since I'm out of school for the summer and going crazy waiting for my beta!!!!!!!!!!

I have heard more women lately say no spotting so that makes me feel good...now watch I'll start spotting tomorrow! I guess I was just hoping to feel something during implantation. I read all the time about women saying they fell it and thought it would be cool!

Hi ladies,
I got a voicemail from the nurse at my RE's office and she said my HCG was 49,099 (very slowly up from 32,272 last wend.) and my prog went down from 238 (last wed.) to 177.8 yesterday. She told me not to freak out the baby grew alot and heart tones were strong that the decrease could be becuase the placenta has started to take over. Which doesnt make sense, I would think if I am on suppositories and oral prog and if my plancenta started excreting prog wouldnt it have gone up??? I am think maybe my numbers didnt rise and some went down because of the loss of twin? What do you all think?

On the bright side she said I am done there and to bring the baby in to visit them. No other instructions other than when to stop my meds. So good new today....I think

Bits- I think you are right... sounds like the twin... would make total sense. My Dr doesn't even do hcg unless he sees something on the u/s or the baby didn't grow or no heartbeat! It is great news that the baby grew and you have a strong beat!!!! It the ob you go!

As for me... no more craving candy hearts... the peach yogurt and apple sauce has helped...not a good time for me to go to the grocery store...and cherry limeade sounds wonderful.

Celly - how are you feeling? Still working out?

So I have been keeping up on you ladies the last few days, I've read every post. By the time I come to the end (sorrt) but I am ready to close mmy eyes and rest. I am sooo, sooo tired. It looks like everyone is doing well. (With the exeption of m/s).

I am going to try my hardest to address as many issues as I can remember.

I want to find out the sex of the baby, however I don't want to tell anyone. I want us to be able to pick a name and decorate a room and I want it to be a surprise to everyone else. I absolutly hate baby showers (wonder why?) and I don't want one. So I don't care what everyone says. I just need to talk DH into it.

As for telling peopel, we haven't. I had to tell my principal to get my off-work notice and yesterday I told my vice-principle and found out he and his wife were expecting and they were about a week ahead of me...that was cool to here. Honestly, I think that some people at work have an idea becuase I have a pouch and I am walking way wierd and I look like a penguin! I think we will tell our family on Father's Day, I just physically can't hide it.

Progesterone, I will be on it until at least July 1st. That's my next U/S and I will 10 1/2 weeks by then. I think Dh will be happier when he no longer has to give the shots to me me anymore.

When it comes to food, I have definitly found my appetite again. I think I lost like 7-8 pounds from not eating with the hyper-stim. I eat every 3 hours or so. I have found that if I have food in my stomach I do not feel so queezy. Morning time I am always queezy though.

Dee- I have some of those candy hearts from this last Valentine's Day. I don't think they would be any good now though.

Sch: Seems like you may be feeling a bit better.

Amanda: How are you doing on your 2ww? Are you going to POAS? I honestly don't think I felt anything during my 2ww, as far as implantation. I didn't have any spotting suring it either.

Well if I missed anything big, I'm sorry. Hoope evryone has a wonderful Friday and an even better weekend.

Good morning ladies!

I'm feeling pretty good today. I still don't really have m/s anymore, but I get really hungry if I don't eat something every three hours or so. I feel pregnant more in the evening and get tired much earlier than I used to. My son was mad at me the other day because I went to bed early and my husband had to tuck him into bed, which I usually do. Well, I did warn him that Mommy was going to bed. I guess he didn't believe me. Now he tells me that I'm not allowed to go to bed without letting him know. He is back at "summer camp" at his preschool starting Monday, so we'll get back into his regular schedule for bedtime. This week with no school we've let him stay up earlier and sleep in if he wants to.

bits - Congratulations on graduating to your OB. I agree that it sounds like your levels changed because you have one baby now instead of twins. So glad to hear that the baby is doing well.

Amanda - I hope your hanging in there on 2ww. My only symptom was that I starting having to get up in the middle of the night to pee. I didn't have any cramping or spotting either. I'm sure the 18th seems like a long way away now, but it will be here next week.

Lisa - glad to hear that you feel like eating again. I agree that keeping something in your stomach helps with morning sickness.

Have a great Friday everyone. I'd better get some work done now.
