From what I've heard that's quite normal, Nlp. I wouldn't worry. I know after my internal ultrasound the doctor cautioned there could be bleeding and not to be alarmed. I'm sure it will subside, but if you're still feeling uncomfortable tomorrow, I'd follow up with your doctor.

Hope this helps your worrying

Yep, I had some spotting for a day or two after my pap. Probably nothing to worry about unless it lasts longer or accompanied by cramps or bleeding.

I had the exect same thing also about 4 days after my pap light brown with little pieces. It started 4 days after my pap and then lasted about 4 days. I freaded out and when in for a u/s. Everything was fine. I wouldn't worry unless it turns red and theres heavy cramping but that's easier said then done!

I was warned that I might see some bleeding, but haven't experienced any.

I woke up this morning with a lovely head cold. I took Sudafed and Tylenol and it's not helping. At least I don't have a fever but I do miss me some Nyquil

Thanks for the well wishes. We don't have a strict time line. We plan to just take it easy and drive, rest and stop as needed. I am really hoping my bladder does not cause too many issues on the journey.

Since everyone has chimed in on the pap question, I will add my own experience. I have experienced no bleeding after vaginal ultrasound or pap. If the doctor says that it is normal though, I would not be too concerned about it. I hope that you shake that cold fast and feel better soon!!

AFM, the NT scan went well. Doctor measured the nuchal fold and the nasal bone. He looked closely at the heart, the brain and the umbilical cord. Everything was within acceptable range and it was determined that I had the same risk as a 30-year-old for down's and trisomy 13 and 18. This was great news to hear. We were the thrilled. The icing on the cake was hearing that there was a 90% chance of having a baby girl. We are over the moon with that news!! It seems the doctor was able to see what he thought was a uterus on the ultrasound. All I can say to that is, "Wow!" I gotta believe him because I know that he has had to look at thousands and thousands of these.

I hope you don't mind if I share a picture of our bambina.

Hope all of you are enjoying your weekend and feeling healthy and happy!

Has anyone heard of the "belly button" for expanding the waist line of your jeans? Where do I find one?

Nevermind. Obviously I haven't been paying close enough attention to what everyone was talking about when they were mentioning the "bellaband". That being said, where can I buy one that's not online? I'd like to actually try them on...

Hi Ladies,

I have been lurking but wanted to introduce myself. I am due on May 13, 2010.

Nightowl: I see you are on here and doing fine. Glad your NT went well. I had my done as well but am waiting for results.

Momtocatsfornow: As for the bellyband question, I saw them in the Maternity section of Target. So you don't have to go online.

BTW: How to you get the baby ticker to work?

Sophealy-
babygaga.com or prenology.com are the two sites I know of for the baby tickers. Once you fill in all of your info, there should be a place to click on to get your code. Then you copy it and paste it in your signature. I think they gave me three options for the code, when one didn't work, I tried the next one until it worked. Good luck!

sayheyrenee- Good luck tomorrow on your NT scan! You are going to do great! Mine is on Friday....a little nervous that it is on Friday the 13th, but that is the only day they could see me.

Nightowl- Love the pic you posted! I can't wait for mine so I can see my little one again. I am glad everything looks normal for you.

AFM, I had asked earlier about the spotting after a pap. Everything seems to be fine. I spotted that same day and a tiny bit the next day and then it went away. I just would have thought the Dr. would have mentioned the possibility of bleeding if it was normal, and he did not. And I am pretty sure I picked up the babies heartbeat this morning on my doppler, so that makes me feel better! I swear, it is so great to be able to heart it at home. It makes me feel happy. Some days it is harder to pick up the heartbeat than others, but I can always pick up the sounds of the placenta, which is pretty cool too!

Good luck finding the belly bands at Target...I couldn't find them at ours. Their website even said they had them in stock and I couldn't find them. Maybe they're in some weird place like with the socks, but they weren't in Maternity or the baby stuff. I ended up ordering some from baby be mine, I'll let you know how they work for me.

For your ticker, you need to create at one of the ticker sites like pregnology.com or thebump.com. Then it creates the code you have to copy and paste into your signature. That's it, pretty simple. I'm sure there are more detailed instructions on here somewhere...maybe under forum friends or general support?

AFM-- I had my NT scan today. It was so nice to just see the baby again! The genetic counselor was a little freaky...she was trying way too hard to not freak us out! But everything looked good. The baby is measuring a couple days ahead and heartbeat was 172! They had a hard time measuring since the little monkey was all nestled in, but they couldn't measure anything much over 1 and the baby has a great nose bone. (I guess that's not the case with downs.) I'll get my official results in a week. But they said we have nothing to worry about...so I guess we're finally gonna start telling people!

Good luck tomorrow Renee!

Hey, Everyone! I finally had spare time to look at the internet and then it felt like I scared everyone away. Glad you all came back and thanks for all the great ultrasound comments! I knew you ladies would understand.

Renee, don't stress about it too much. Chances are everything is fine and you will just be anxious to get back here and share an awesome picture or two with us. Good luck!

Momto4Cats - let us know how the band works out for you. I don't know when I will need one. I have a pooch but my clothes must still fit because of the weight I have lost in the last month. I am thinking I will be able to get at least another 4-6 weeks out of them.

Hey, Sophealy!! Glad that you joined and I am happy to hear that you and baby are doing well. According to my doctor, my due date is May 13 as well. I am a little confused how they figured it. It seems they went by transfer day instead of retrieval day. When I use the online IVF due date calculator, it indicates that my due date is May 11. I guess it really does not matter too much yet until we get closer though. When did you have your scan? Did the doctor not calculate his findings right then? Okay, one more question since I know you had IVF and the screening already. Last week I asked my doctor if they were going to do the blood work in conjunction with the scan and he said no because the IVF can increase the chance for false positives on the blood work portion. I was wondering if Dr.'s in the U.S had the same practice of foregoing the screening blood work for IVF patients??

Nlp - glad the spotting resolved itself and you are hearing the baby's heartbeat. I just heard baby's heartbeat for the first time at my NT scan last week.

Welcome sophealy.

NLP-glad you has some reassurance.

Sharley09- great news!

Maybe1day- BTW we need to change your name to something like nows my time. LOL. Hope you hear from the doctor soon.

I got a belly band at Motherhood maternity (they carry plus size). I am still wearing my regular clothes but wanted to be ready when I need to unbutton. The jeans I bought are still too big but they recommended me wearing the belly band over them to hold them up. Might try that soon.

What does NT stand for?
Our testing is by genzyme and is called sequential screening.

Thanks everyone for the well wishes.

I have a new nickname for the baby. Crazy baby and I say that in an evil voice. 45 minutes in ultrasound. Apparently, my baby loves to huddle face down. They were finally able to get the baby to stay straight and still on its belly to get a measurement. Not the best way but the doctor was happy with the measurements. We tried walking, laying on side, shaking and rubbing the belly etc. Baby did not want to roll over. No view of the nose etc. I was the first appt and she said there is usually one problem child a day -LOL. HB 150

We met with the genetic counselor and went through a complete family history. We decided against CVS and Amnio. We were already certain that we will accept what we are delt and there is no reason to risk miscarriage. I gave 6 vials of blood. Most results will be back in a week but one set will be 2 weeks. My dads father was of German Jewish decent and there is a screening that we choose to do. My OB tested for CF and we are okay. We were less than 1% risk for DS.

I go back at 16 weeks for more blood and then at 20 weeks for follow up ultrasound. That ultrasound will be for measurements of body parts and organs.

sayheyrenee- NT scan is a Nuchal Translucency Scan (Down's scan). Great news on your scan! Less than 1% is fantastic! Sorry the baby was so difficult during the scan, he/she is just preparing you for motherhood I guess!!!

NightOwl- I did not realize with IVF there was a risk for false positive on the blood work. Did they say why? I guess that just does not make sense to me. Everyone I have talked to does both the scan and blood work.

AFM, Question for you all. When did you decide to start telling people? I am exactly 12 weeks today...woo hoo!! Most people I know say they tell people at 12 weeks, but the official ending of my first trimester is next Monday (Acccording to my pregnancy ticker).

Nlp-I'm a bad example of what NOT to do. I told as soon as I found out. However, I was reading in one of my books that at 12 weeks, the chance of m/c drops by 90% and that it's okay to start telling people if you want. So, I called around, and retold people (got a few laughs out of that one) and reannounced on facebook. I'm nuts.

Both (well, all three) grandmas were anxiously waiting to see if our IUI worked. My stepmom died on Oct 21 (my anniversary and the day we found out baby was still there and doing fantastic) but the remaining two grandmas are still super excited! Of course, my MIL told the whole world...she quite literally announced it to the Philly airport terminal we walked out of. She's been in Italy the last two weeks and I'm sure everyone there now knows that we're pregnant. My mom told everyone in the family and a few friends. I'm not sure about perfect strangers, she's got 5 other grandbabies already!

Sorry that was a lot of info. Most unnecessary. However, I was (and still am) super excited and wanted to express that I didn't care that people knew from the beginning. I figured, if it didn't stick, people would understand.
