Genevieve - congrats on the u/s and the heartbeat! 165 is great and I can't believe you were able to see an arm and a leg. How exciting!! Interesting that RE bumped up your due date ... I had my transfer on the 13th and last time I went to the RE, my due date was 6/30. When I calculate it on lilne based on the transfer date it comes out to 7/1 so who knows how these things are worked out. I guess I'll ask my OB on Monday! I think your due date is not the first official one!!

tab - so sorry you are sick ... hopefully it won't last too much longer!

josie - i can't believe we are already thinking of daycares. i thought the pediatrician question threw me off! i work from home and plan to continue after a few months off. i haven't even thought about what we'll do when i do start working again. maybe a nanny? anyone else in the work from home boat?

dawners - good luck with the sono on tuesday!

jennyh02 - i can't imagine waiting a whole month but i think that's just the way it works. i think normal pregnancies get u/s only twice so i think we get spoiled a bit with our REs. i have my first ob apt on monday and after that i don't think i'll have another one until the anatomy scan which is around 20 weeks. does anyone know if i can expect any more?? i read somewhere that you can pick up the heartbeat with a regular stethoscope around 20 weeks. not sure if it works or not, but may be worth a shot esp if you already have one!

gardengirl - i am so impressed that you got through a week of shots on your own! you must be so happy to have DH back. i have found that the pregnology site is great (Pregnancy progress - How many weeks pregnant am I?) for letting you know where you are in your pregnancy. with a due date of 6/30, i begin my 2nd trimester december 23rd. while all my close friends and family already know, i plan on announcing to everyone else then.

yrdl22 - my re said they stop doing betas after a couple weeks becaused they begin to go down which is normal. as long as they double for the first few weeks, they usually just move on to u/s to check on progress. i have been off caffeine, deli meat, and non pastuerized cheeses since i started stims. while there is all sorts of information out there, webmd has some basic info that may help. Creating a Pregnancy Diet: Healthy Eating During Pregnancy also, your question about the h1n1 ... i was really scared to get it but my re highly recomends it. i will ask my ob and may consider getting it but if so will wait until the 2nd trimester.

joy - i totally agree with your concern am gladyou didn't drive all that way by yourself. the dizziness really scares me even for my 15 min drive to the RE. this is a time to be cautious for you and the baby and to wait for a time when someone can drive you. so glad you were able to get into your ob! and that's so funny about your reply to the strangers asking if it worked. i bet that shut them up! and congrats on your u/s!! i had the same brief thought about not having twins. given how long its taken us to get pregnant, part of me was hoping i would be having twins too and avoid going through ivf a second time. but, unlike you, we've never had even one so having two at once may be more than we can handle. were you able to reschedule with your RE at a time when DH can take you?

josie - mozzarella is ok if it's pasteurized. the reason soft cheeses are off limits is because a lot of them (goat cheese, blue cheese, feta) are unpasteurized. just check the label when you buy cheese and it will tell you.

dawners - thanks for the h1n1 info ... i always struggle when i read things like that and then the doctors urge you towards it. i think everyone just needs to make the best choice for them and not let anyone pressure you one way or the other.

jnd - so sorry you're so busy! try to take care of yourself and that little one!
carrieannr - it's great to see you again!

7and5 -i've found that each site is a bit different. i like pregnology.com, but that's just my opinion. most of them are within a day or two of each other but i really have no idea why!

munchkin - i'm in the same boat ... totally exhausted but the RE said that's to be expected with the progesterone. (that and the pregnancy!) the good news is that our energy is supposed to go up once we stop the progesterone and get into our second trimesters.

mommyinny -congrats!! that's a great heartbeat!!!

kroogrulez - that's great that you found an OB but i wouldnt wait until january 5th. when my RE release me at 7 weeks, he said i needed to be seen within 2 weeks. if i couldnt get an apt by then, he said he would see me again. i would call back and explain the situation ... perhaps you can see a nurse practitioner in the practice or they can work something out for you. i have found that you can't always just accept what you are told. this is your body and your baby. while you will certainly follow the rules, sometimes they can be work around them a bit to accomidate you.

mom43 - welcome and congrats!!! is there a reason that your RE is being so conservative? mine hasn't said anything about flying and said that moderate exercise and even sex was ok. just want to make sure i'm not doing anything i shouldn't!

AFM - nothing to report. still tired with sore boobs but i'll take it! dh is out of town this weekend so am taking it easy and lounging around watching chick flicks! hope everyone has a great weekend!!

Lizzy - I think the most conservative approach is the one my RE is taking. Maybe cause I did 3 IVFs and broke the bank, or maybe because I'm 44 and the chance of me getting pregnant again is so slim. DH and I have decided we are going to fly back east if we can get the private jet (that is as capable as a commercial airliner - flies at 30,000 to 40,000 feet and goes as fast). If we can only get the private plane that flies at 10,000 to 15,000 feet and that is therefore more turbulent and takes twice as long, we'll miss this Thaksgiving back east. Not worth the risk. Everything for all of us preggos is a risk assessment, unless we live in a bubble, and even that probably wouldn't be good because we wouldn't get enough circulation to our uterus. Ha! Like so many of you recognize, tt's not truly in our hands anyway.

Hi girls
I have not had as much time to post lately - trying to catch up at work where I've been slacking for at least 2 months, and at home I'm trying to give DH a break from my obsessions (although I don't know if he can even tell the difference lol).

I've made it to 8 weeks now - I'm still a little nervous and just really want to get past the first trimester. We've told almost everyone and besides the fact that I would be devastated, I really, really don't want to have to un-tell them if we have problems. I guess that's what I get for being over-excited and unable to keep anything to myself!

As far as the H1N1 discussion - I read a lot, worried about it a lot (trying to decide what to do) but last Tuesday my OB told me she wanted me to have it and they had it there, so I just did it. So far no side effects at all, so ! I kind of laughed when the nurse said something about it hurting (apologizing or something). I was thinking about all the shots/bloodwork I've had in the last 2 months, including those miserable PIO shots every night, and thought 'seriously?'. I barely felt it.

When are you guys going to start shopping? Should I wait for the 2rd trimester? Until we know the gender? Until we are a month away from delivery?? I still haven't bought anything (I've walked into the baby departments and then get kind of nervous and just walk away again). I have a friend who always buys a pack of diapers every week or paycheck during her entire pregancy so that she's stocked up. Sounds like a great idea but once again, I'm too nervous to buy anything!

Grats to everyone who saw heartbeats this week. I still get all giddy thinking about mine - what an awesome sight that was! Can't wait for my next u/s (December 15th). I hope it comes quickly - the holiday season usually goes fast for me.

Have a great weekend!
