Congrats to all the new mamas!!
Tarabears...wanted to get back to you. I don't think there is anything to do to prepare for twins, but I am the fluke. I did a FET of three and one embryo decided to split into identical twins! For the first transfer, I listened to classical music, meditated and did accupuncture. We got a BFN. For the second one, I got into a car accident four minutes before the scheduled transfer and ended up with a BFP and twins. Go figure Good luck!!! |

Caleb Joseph arrived at 1:54 pm weighing in at 6lbs 1oz; Silas Jeffrey arrived at 1:56 pm with cord wrapped around neck twice weighing in at 4lbs 8oz. Both are doing well. Trying to get the hang of breastfeeding. It's been challenging but just trying to be patient. Silas having some issues with his blood sugar level which is probably due to his small size. But we are hoping that he's able To get it up.
C-section went fairly good. In a little pain but I'm getting some good pain meds. It definitely feels weird not having them inside moving all around. I just can't believe they came out of me. I'm definitely in love.

Waking twin two to feed.
Not much going on here lately. Guess we are all busy taking care of and loving our kids.
Feeding question... Are you guys waking the second baby when the first eats? One of my girls wakes every 3 hours but I think the other one would sleep 4 or so. I feel like I am pulling her out of a deep sleep to eat and she eats more so she is gaining a lot faster... What are you guys doing? (oh yeah, I am bottle feeding). I know they say to do this for my sanity but is it good for the sleeping twin?

Hi
Thread crasher.lol I saw the post about waking the other twin to eat at night. We did not on the advice of a babywhisper who we hired. She explained you get the sleeping twin into a bad habit. Sometimes it got crazy.....but we did not get the sleepier twin into eating in the middle of the night more then he was. Just my opinion. Our twins have been sleeping 630 pm to 630am straight with no shout outs or awakenings from 14 weeks gestation on. Good luck everyone. I promise it gets easier.

Hey all. It's been a crazy few days. I'm glad someone posted about Feedings. I am exclusively breastfeeding right now. I actually tandem feed for the most part. However it just seems like my little guys can't get enough during the night. Like they cluster feed. During the day we can go 3-4 hrs in between Feedings but at night it Seems like my one little guy wants to eat every hour. I spoke to a lactation consultant who suggested feeding 1oz bottle of my Breastmilk to my hungry guy at around midnight. I hope it works but I'm not sure if my guy is doing it because he's hungry or just wants to be comforted. He's gained 4oz since Wednesday so he may be a big eater or I might be over feeding him. I have no clue. I just wish I could get some sleep at night. Any suggestions?
As far as waking one twin up, I haven't done it because it seems like they are always up at night. I really don't know how I'm doing all of this. I'm beyond exhausted.

Patiently - I don't think you can over feed at this age. It's all on demand...at least that's what I did with each of my boys & they were big & healthy
They go through stages where they'll cluster feed and then other weeks it'll feel like they're not eating nearly as much. Of course, I haven't done it with 2 yet (I'm scared to death!), but I imagine the feeds are relatively similar weather it's 1 or 2 babies (albeit MUCH more work with 2). Once they start sleeping at night and you can get a little sleep, it will be much better. I see my dr on Monday (I'll be 38 weeks!) and we'll schedule induction for Tuesday or Wednesday. I can't even imagine taking care of 2 newborns right now...starting to freak out bout it a little ![]()

Thanks for responding Lucky. I guess I just question everything right now since I'm new at this. I guess I will continue to do what I'm doing. It just feels like I'm making my husband miserable due to lack if sleep. I sometimes think he doesn't trust what I've been doing. So that kinda makes me question myself. But my little guys have been putting on weight and should surpass their birth weights by their next weight check on Tuesday. Good luck with your induction. Hope all goes well.

Yaz : Glad to hear your going well
Re feeding : Our babies were born at 32 weeks, in the NICU for 4 weeks, then home at 36 weeks gestation. They have now been home for 5 weeks this Saturday, I must say feeding/sleeping perfectly Exactly form 14 weeks on is fine for sleeping through from 6.30 till 6.30, that's a long time, when they are sent home at 36 weeks - What the NICU nurses suggested : wake the babaies for each feed , even if the other one is asleep. regardless of wether they are awake or not. Realistically a baby wont sleep through until 11 pounds or so, so there is no point even trying to make it hard on yourself. We need to get these babies to a weight where they can physically handle going without a feed, that wont happen until their tummy's can hold more milk. So IMO wake both babies at the same time until they get bigger, it's working really well for us |
