Robin,
Everyweek I look at your ticker in amazement. You're almost to 12 weeks!!! WHOOPIE!! I totally want that heart rate monitor. Didnt the reviews make you want it too? Everyone was raving about it! Just a word of caution, I bought that new pillow off of amazon, and I saw that a 3rd party called BabyAge is shipping it. If I had searched longer, I wouldve found it much cheaper! I wonder if that same monitor is out there cheaper!!

Robin, are you still doing genetic testing tomorrow?
I had my u/s this am and saw one little hearbeat. Of course, I didn't think to ask what it was measuring because my RE was rapid fire asking me questions regarding my CVS test and how many more babies i was going to try for... (huh? i was rather confused by that one)

I must confess sometimes I log on to see how far pregnant my ticker says

Oh, and Boston- do those preggie pops work? I'm battling some bad nausea now. Barely kept myeslf from vomiting the last two days...

cat,
did you get an u/s picture? there are maybe measurements on it
we are going to a genetics specialist tomorrow for non-invasive screening (whatever that is)... and after we get those results, we will decide on whether or not we want to do CVS...

Hi Catherine! You poor thing! I'm so sorry your "morning" sickness is so bad!! I alternated between the ginger candies and the Preggie Pop drops (I looked silly with the pop hanging out of my mouth at work so I bought the drops too...they're just like a little hard candy.) I thought it helped a little. I ordered them through this site: Morning Sickness Products

What really started helping me in the morning is, I set my alarm about 20 minutes earlier than normal. When it goes off, I prop myself up in bed and slowly eat 5 or 6 saltine crackers (put them in a small ziplock bag on your nightstand). The saltines seem to help soak up some of that extra stomach acid that's upsetting our tummies. Then, I kind of chill out while sitting up for a little while so I get out of bed slowly. When I get out the shower, I have more saltines before I dry my hair. After I dry my hair, I have some toast with peanut butter on it (just to give me some protein). Sounds like a long process but, it's been helping.

Some books also say to eat either a high carb or a high protein snack right before you go to bed to help your body get through the night.

My all-day sickness seems to be getting a little better. I notice that now I feel worse when my body is hungry so I'm eating more frequently. There is something in work that is making me feel just TERRIBLE when I am here though. All weekend I feel OK (not normal but, well enough to go out and get some stuff done) but, once I get to work I feel terrible...maybe it's the smells from what the chefs are cooking...or maybe it's just work. hahahaha

thanks boston! I'll pick some of those up. I'm actually doing okay in the am, i manage to eat and get going but then when I get in my car, or experience smells at work (generally food), I find myself swallowing and trying really hard to keep from vomiting. I am carrying around crackers and honey wheat pretzel sticks and they seem to help some... just attended a destressing seminar at work and the woman said that protein snacks 4-6 times a day were essential to everyone... actually there was a lot about nutrition, makes me want to run by the grocery store after work and figure out some more healthy foods for dinner... of course, then dh will have to cook them because the smell of food isn't doing so well w/ me... well, maybe next week

Robin-- great idea! I'll have to make a special trip to my car just to see. Unfortunately, I would also have liked to know the heartbeat... oh well, 2 more weeks till my next u/s. I do have to see my RE one more time. funny thing is that I see my obgyn next week and then my RE again a week after that. (i have to see my obgyn for some blood tests needed before the cvs test)

Catherine, lately, it's smells that get to me too! It's a cruel trick of nature that my sense of smell seems stronger since I've been pregnant and smells usually make me feel sick! hahaha

Boston- did you ever ask your dr about massages? it's health week at my work and they're offerring seated massages on wednesday... Talking about smells- my brother went fishing and took raw chicken for bait, only he went last WEEK and then went away from his house forgetting he still had raw chicken sitting around. We stopped by yesterday and it REEKED, I almost lost it right there. He said he got rid of it sat and it didn't really smell that bad, i was like yeah, right! My father looked at me w/ a smile so I'm thinking that he's guessing why i was more annoyed by the smell than anyone else... but really, raw chicken out for a week! ew!!!

And Robin, there are worse things to be than an u/s junkie!

My nurse just called to check on me and I was able to ask her- - heartbeat was 124 which she said was great.

Everyone's been so busy posting this morning! I just got back from lunch with Havana!! It's so fun that we live so close together and we are both in the same field of work. Amazing how these weird situations bring you closer to people you would have never met. Anyway, we had a great lunch, ate lots of fatty foods, did manage to stay away from dessert temptation, and got to compare all our symptoms (and stomachs) in person. So fun!

I am very tempted to order a heartrate monitor too. I know someone else once mentioned renting a higher quality monitor. Hmmm. I'm sure I'll be tempted if I read those reviews. How early can we use it?

Asked my Mom about the stretch marks... guess I'm doomed! She had then and said she had some weird pigment line running from her belly button to her pubic bone. Great! Guess I won't be posting pics

Maybebaby - Take it as easy as possible on your trip. The best advice I can give you is don't do anything that you would look back on and regret. My doctor cleared me to go to Philly and I still have second thoughts about the trip now. I did lighten my purse and my hubby and I shared a carryon (which he carried) and checked the rest. If you'll still have to take medicine (or especially syringes), don't forget to carry that on, leave some extra time for security, and you'll need a note from your doctor. Stay off your feet as much as possible and play the pregnancy part! My hubby was loving it... he even convinced the cabby to put on the a/c since his wife was pregnant!

and I have an officemate who makes authentic chinese meals which usually appear/smell appetizing but now.... oh my.

i've told people in my group, but there are about 100 people on our floor (open plan), and even if they are making popcorn on the other side of the floor, i can still smell it good thing i am no where close to a break room... that would drive my crazy...
speaking of Chinese... one of our friends is chinese and her birthday is coming up, she is inviting us over for a traditional chinese feast... i am not sure how to tell her (politely) that we won't be coming over...

Peachy - a lot of people get that line...all the pregnancy books talk about it. So, don't feel like you have to hide it...it's common. You're so luck that you and havana live so close together! If it wasn't for this site, I'd be feeling pretty alone...none of my friends or family know yet so I haven't been able to ask questions, share news, etc.

Catherine - I haven't had my first OB appt yet so I don't have an answer about massages (I forgot to ask my RE about massages at my last appt). And I TOTALLY would have lost it...raw chicken sitting out for a week? So gross!!! Just thinking of the smell is making me feel sick. I also hate it when people make popcorn at work. Though I love popcorn, even when I wasn't pregnant the smell bothered me. haha
