Maybebaby, if that's what your gut is telling you then seems like it makes sense to follow it. You'll get to Paris someday if not now!

and if you do go, take a bus tour... i personally LOVE those, they are a lot more educational then browsing unknown streets on your own PLUS, you won't have to fight the crowds!
Enjoy your trip!

Thanks for the congrats ladies!

maybebaby - Have a wonderful trip!! If your gut is telling you to skip Paris this time around, listen to it. I know the last time I was in Paris for work it was during that terrible heat wave when people were passing away from the heat (air conditioning is pretty scarce there) so, be prepared for the heat...even when it's not a ridiculous heat wave the weather still isn't what I'd consider pleasant in the summer...especially with all the crowds and scarce air conditioning. That may just be me though...I don't like the heat in cities in the summer...I'm weird about outdoor temps. I'd say, Paris will always be there...if you're really concerned about going, take the time to relax and take it easy. Head back to Paris when you can maybe spend more time and enjoy walking around and soaking in all the sights and culture (and explore all the wonderful boutiques!) when it's not so packed with tourists (that's how I like to travel...I have kind of a strong dislike for tour groups and the like...I like to explore on my own, talk with the locals and soak things in). But, that's just me. If you do go, stick to a bus tour so you can see the sights comfortably you're not putting undue strain on your body...you'll still see a lot and learn a lot on the bus tour.

Most of all ENJOY YOUR VACATION!!! Ireland is going to be fabulous...I've never been but one of my co-workers is from there and she's there right now for two weeks visiting her family (her second trip there in as many months). I love hearing her talk about it. My DH is going on vacation there in August and he's so excited....you'll have to tell us all about it when you get back!

AMISH Friendship bread???

Okay, anyone ever baked Amish friendship bread? Someone just gave me a starter and it totally weirds me out because it sits out on the counter, you add milk & flour to it and then 10 days later, you use 1/4 to bake and pass on the other 3/4 to other people. So basically I have no clue how many times milk's been added or how many months the starter's been going... I have tasted the end product and it does taste good but especially being pregnant, i'm reluctant to eat too much or make it myself. Am i being overly cautious?

Oh, also, so my DH keeps waking up a 5 am to pee! And then when he gets up it wakes me up and of course, I can't go back to bed until i pee. We get up at 6 am anyways, but this unscripted wakeup at 5 is really getting to me. But he doesn't see anything wrong w/ it and won't stop drinking the night before (i've begged him to at least limit drinking after 7, but he says he's always thirsty at night so he tends to drink about 32 oz of gatorade a night!)

Hahaha...I'm heard of the Amish friendship bread but I've never made it or had any. At least there's no raw egg sitting in it or anything like that....

I hear you! My DH hasn't been waking up to pee (I have about once a night though). But lately he's been tossing and turning so darn much!! It has always caused me to wake up in the past but I think his tossing and turning activity has increased. So, I wake up in the morning and I feel like I didn't sleep at all. Last night I yelled at him in the middle of the night...his tossing and turning woke me up and I had JUST started to fall back asleep and he let out the LOUDEST yawn right in my ear so that woke me up again. This happened twice and the 2nd time I couldn't help it...I had to yell at him. Believe me, his yawns aren't a typical yawn...they're so darn loud...it's like he's giving a really loud exaggerated sigh combined with a restrainted yell or something when he yawns...he has complete control over it...when I've asked him to stop it with the ridiculous yawns on the past, he has and has started yawning like a normal person...but he always starts up again. (Yes, I know this sounds strange! hahaha) I honestly think I am going to sleep in one of the empty bedrooms if this keeps up...I need my sleep!!

maybebaby - I say save Paris for the next trip. It's a gorgeous city but is definitely a walking city. Plus, the museums are huge so you would spend lots of time on your feet there too. That being said - if you can't resist... I did a bus tour one night when I was there and you got to see all the monuments lit up at night and we did dinner in the eiffel tower and you could see the city without the mobs. But, it's a great trip to do just on it's own and could make a fun post-baby trip... when you can enjoy some good French wine too! If I go anywhere in the next 8 months, it'll have to be a place not known for its alcohol

Cat - I lived in Pennsylvania for 6 years and never heard of the Amish bread! Good luck with that one!

Good morning!

Just wanted to tell all of you thank you so much for your encouraging words and thoughts yesterday. I'm feeling better today. I realize this was the card I was dealt and that I just have to get through this in one way shape or form. None of what happens with my twins is in my control, so I just have to have faith that they are going to be ok. Thanks again to all of you!

Maybebaby - have a wonderful trip! My DH is so jealous you are going to Ireland...of course he associates Ireland with golf, but he's still very jealous. I agree with what the others said...just listen to your body and know your limits. My dr. told me that was the best thing we can do at this point...rest if we feel tired, eat if we feel hungry, get off our feet if we feel the need to sit down. I'm sure your DH will take great care of you and that you will have an amazing trip!

Cat - I've heard of that bread, but like Boston, I've never made it! My grandma always makes her breads with starters and I would imagine that once you cook them many of the potential bacteria would cook out. Maybe? I'm not much of a cook, but that's my guess...

Happy Friday!

Cat- that what the RE said this morning (yes I went in again) he said to listen to my body and if I do go, use care, he loved the idea of the wheelchair in the airport!
Also, I have never had the Amish friendship bread.

Thanks Robin

Boston- Thanks for the tips!
I love Ireland, I have been there a few times before. We have traveled to the south (my DH has family in Cork relatives) I’ve kissed the blarney stone and of course Dublin, the shopping is great. I’ve done a lot of touristy stuff in Ireland already that’s why we were going to do a side trip… Are you not going with your hubby in august?

Peachy- the tour you went on sounds great I heard the wine is cheaper than water!

maybebaby, I'm not going with my DH because it's a guy's trip. Every two years my FIL takes my DH and BIL on a bike trip with Backroads (a GREAT travel company if you like sporty vacation...but they also have some hiking/walking trips that seem more low key and sound wonderful). I am not a sporty gal and I am not into traveling with groups of strangers where everything is organized and scheduled for you (no matter how small the group is...I prefer to travel on my own with my DH or with people I know...I don't like set schedules and having to pretend to be nice to people that are annoying me because they're strangers...hahaha There is one hiking and walking trip they have in China and Tibet that I would consider doing but I digress...sorry, I love to talk about vacation and traveling!) Anyway, this year the trip their doing is a week-long bike trip in Ireland. I am kind of bummed that he's going to Ireland without me but, I take a lot of vacations without him so, it's only fair. I'm excited for him and I love that he goes on a vacation with his dad and brother every two years...I think it's great for them...they're all so close.

Maybebaby - In Italy, the wine is cheaper than bottled water! But, take my advice, do not decide to bet your traveling buddy that you can finish your carafe of wine if they can drink their liter of bottled water at lunch Only makes for an afternoon siesta and not a lot of touring! My DH is a wine buyer so it's become an occupational hazard when we travel!

I'd live in Italy if I could convince my DH to! It is my favorite place!! I day dream about Italy every day! I just love the pace of life there. Next time I go I'm hoping to see if I can find some of my mom's family (my cousins located some family there when they went...they were all pretty old so hopefully they'll still be alive and kicking when I go back!)

Ok ladies I know were supposed to be very positive in here, but I just got really sad when I read Mary's posting. WTF has been happening this week?? I just think its so sad that we have been down this long road only for more bad news...why cant we just get pregnant and have a great 9 months or not? Why all this bad news?? I just am really sad..

...ok, Im buying the frickin heart monitor now. Im not going through the next 7+ months wondering whats going on in there. DH just needs to fork out the $115, I need it.

...sorry again Im just scared...

ps-Tonight will cheer me up, we go on the 2nd hospital tour. I'll be the skinny dork again in the room of women that are about to pop.
