MM- the haircut sounds great. I'm thinking of treating myself to a haircut and either a massage or pedicure in the next couple weeks and convincing dh it was my xmas present Thanks for the advice on the knitting!

Nat- staying in all weekend sounds like a plan! DH was actually kinda serious about us coming...

Peach- if the firefighters look like that, you'll have to let us know. Oh, and what was the verdict on the nursing bra?

Havana- did you get those pictures from a website that rents out strippers?

Cat-Haha! I googled "Hot Firemen" and this total Fireman pornsite came up. haha!! DH is going to be like WTF if he sees that!! hahaha! They were doing some interesting things with their "hoses" if you know what I mean!! The pics I posted for Peach is just from some stupid calendar website so I could keep it clean. LOL.

MM-I think I need to go through some pictures so I can feel comfortable with a new haircut. I had one nightmare with layers once upon a time where this chick butchered my hair. I really think Im ready though. I need it!! Let us know if you get snow and stay warm up there!!

Nat-Staying in this weekend sounds FAB! Has the weather gotten bad your way too?

DH and I just got back from a full day Labor and Delivery Class that was excellent. We had a great teacher and she was full of information. She covered just about everything you can think of regarding labor and we even did some relaxation techniques. DH fell asleep while laying next to me on the floor. He started snoring and the whole class started laughing. The Orbit has been tracked to the ATL. It should be here Monday--Dh is getting super excited!!

Havana- I like the name you picked, too. Matthew was on our short list for names originally. That should satisfy both sides of your family. Oh, and nice pics!

MM- Your haircut sounds great! I have an appt in 2 weeks and I can't wait to get it cut. Just a trim, though.

Peachy- Those crocs are definately better than the general design. They're kind of cute, actually. They remind me of mary-janes.

Well, we got the crib all set up. Yay. Now we have to arrange the room. I washed just about all the clothes, blankets and sheets I have for Josh, but they still need to be put away. I hate putting away laundry. It's supposed to snow here tomorrow, too, I think. It is freezing outside now. I need one of those automatic car starters. Maybe for Christmas....

MM - I hope the shower was tons of fun! We want to hear details. Can't wait to see pictures of the new haircut too. It sounds adorable! I can't wait to trim mine up on Thursday.

Nat - What sort of fun stuff are you getting done in the house this weekend?

Havana - Way to go with the delivery class! You'll have to fill me in on the important points since I skipped that one for the c-section. I'm all nervous now. I'm really laughing at DH falling asleep during the class!! Are you going to try a new haircut before the baby? I would love to see...

Cat - You have your fun girls tea tomorrow. Was DH's run today or tomorrow? I did find one nursing bra that I love... I wore it for the day and it was super comfy but... it would be the most expensive of course! I just tried some at Target today too but they weren't great. So, I guess I'll start with a nude and black of this one and go from there post baby... it's part of the elle mcpherson line.

Maggie - Congrats on getting the crib set up! How exciting. And, you washed all the clothes! Busy Saturday.

I finished the last of the diapers run today to start with and got all the items on our top 10 list - hemmoroid cream, tucks pads, super maxi pads - and of course ran into someone I know while waiting in line

My feet are a nightmare today. For some unknown reason, the left foot swelled up gigantic last night. DH and I were looking at it and it was just crazy. So, this morning they are a little better but wouldn't fit into the brand new crocs I bought yesterday. I just don't get it. Hopefully, the swelling will be back down a little tomorrow to fit into my size TEN crocs. Urgh.

Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend so far!

Nat- the snow didn’t end up sticking THIS time but we are expecting freezing rain tonight, snow in the morning and another round of freezing rain into Monday… Your DH’s cafeteria sounds nice sans the crude coworkers

Havana- nice name thanks for the visual. Our local firemen put a calendar out every year, needless to say, they sell REAALY well! Glad you enjoyed the class, obviously the relaxation methods work! LOL

MM- how was your shower!? I’m with Peachy, I want to see the haircut!

Maggie- I hate putting laundry away as well! Glad the crib is up!

Peachy- those bras are cute! Your poor feet

maybebaby- thanks for the pics. Do you actually venture out in that weather? Parents magazine had a picture of a family that makes these wrist warmers out of socks- where you cut a little hole out of the toes for your thumb and a slightly bigger hole for your other 4 fingers and then the sock goes up your arm. Then you put the gloves and jacket on overtop and it prevents the chaffing from cold hitting where the gloves and jacket meet.. I was thinking that it was a cool idea, but we'd need more cold weather for it to be useful around here. Sounds like if i moved to canada, it'd be useful!

MM- you are an awesome knitter! What type of yarn is that? And what gauge needle did you use? And HOW was your shower??? What other cute ideas were there that I can "borrow" for the one i host for my sil? Pictures?

Peach- that bra is actually super cute in comparison to all the ones that i've seen. DH looked over and wanted to know what in the world i was looking at... between havana's fireman pictures and your bra, he's now laughing... You only got size 10 crocs? UM??? Those things are meant to be big. I think you should exchange for 11 and wear socks if necessary. Yep, tea is today, race is this am and then dh comes home to watch dd while i go to tea... now i only need to find something to wear... This is a group of friends where only 1 has been preg and the rest are slightly afraid and I know that they "inspect" what i look like each time so i feel like I have to be totally put together... I may stop by sephora before the tea

maggie- so exciting that you have the crib setup! I have 3 loads of baby laundry waiting to be put away. But we still have to caulk the molding and touch it up so i'm waiting for db to put that last little piece up... The paint and caulk smell and i'd rather not have baby clothes in there yet... And if it's supposed to snow, sounds like a good day for hot chocolate and putting away baby laundry Your due date is coming up soon-- have you gone to weekly appts now too?

Havana-very exciting that the orbit is on track! This will the be the first time you've seen it in person, correct?

Good Morning!
Peach-Im getting concerned about your feet...did you test your bloodpressure at the store when you went for your top 10 run? I bet you did, how was it??

Cat-You're right! This will be the first time Ive seen the orbit! (Im a little nervous, but DH being so excited should make it ok)

Maybe-Your turkey prizes are so gorgeous from MM!! Thanks for posting the pics!! I saw on the news today that you and Boston should have gotten some nasty weather! You guys staying warm??

MM-How was the shower??

Maggie-Congrats on getting the room set up! It sounds like you're almost ready!!

SO I woke up this morning thinking that I needed to tell you all a few things to pack in your bag for the hospital. I learned some of these in the class yesterday. Peach and I are delivering at literally the largest birthing hospital in the country and if this hospital told us to bring it, I thought you should too..

1. Birthing Ball-this will help stretch your perinium area if you want to try during labor. The ones at our hospital are $56 and you can buy them at the store for about $12.

2. Relaxation/Meditation CD or Music of Choice. Most hospitals will have a CD player for you to use or maybe you could play it through a DVD player.

3. Massage lotion and massagers. Our teacher kept referring to them as "vibrators and toys". DH and I were like 10 year old boys laughing. Just get the kinds with little feet on them that DH or DP can rub on your back. Another thing that felt AWESOME was she had 2 tennis balls in a sock with a knot tied in the middle and at the end of one side. DH rubbed that on my back and it was the best "toy" in the room.

One last tip that I actually wrote down...you want to try to wait until you are 4 cm dialated to get the epidural. This will help your labor progress significantly since the epidural is notorious for slowing down labor. For example, my sister had the epidural earlier and then she had to have petocin to speed it up, then she got nauseus from the petocin and had to have phenergan. We literally had to wake her up to push. She doesnt even remember the birth....

The doctors can also give you a lower dose of the epidural so you can somewhat feel a contraction and actually help to push better. This might help you from getting a urinary catheter as well..

If I think of anything else I'll let you know.

I have a little hand held massager packed- the one that's just metal w/ four little wooden ball "feet", that worked really well for the first few hours in the hospital w/ dd.

Just googled birthing ball...
Midwifeinfo - Birthing Balls
looks like it's basically an exersize ball which i think i will pick up since i want to attempt to avoid the epidural...

You know, at this rate, we're all going to need DH to bring a wagon in full of stuff!

Cat - I was thinking the same thing! Between the boppy, extra pillows, a birthing ball, my suitcase, DH's suitcase, and Aiden's bag... hell we don't need a doula we need a sherpa to carry all the stuff!! Urgh. Guess I've got more adding to the suitcase. Have so much fun at your tea today!! You'll have to tell us about your outfit selection. It's getting tough these days. Did dh give you permission to use the credit card if it's for the cute bras?

Maybebaby - Thanks for the pics of the turkey gift! The hats are so cute! Looks like you might be having a nice cozy day up there with the weather.

Havana - I'm doing whatever you sister did if she has no memory of birth Just Kidding. Ok, what do we do with the exercise ball? Do you sit on it? I'll have to track down a little massager. Wouldn't you love to see someone walk into Northside with the "real" toys?? Ha! Hmmm.... and cds. Thanks! I did check my blood pressure before I started running errands yesterday. It's still high for me but hasn't broken the 140 number. The bottom number keeps getting higher so I know that isn't a great sign. Tomorrow is the big orbit day at your house... do you have a countdown?

OK. I've got Risky Business on tv which means I just watched Tom dancing in his undies! Nice way to start a Sunday. Now I just need to get productive.

My Mom just called me too asking to do a girls lunch tomorrow. She thinks this might be our last chance for some alone time for a while. Moms! Anyway, she offered to take me to get some shoes so I'm not passing up the offer. She's too embarrassed to be seen with me outside the house in slippers

MM- Yes, post a new pic of your haircut! How was the shower?

Havana- Thanks for all of the great info. I am literally writing all down on a pad of paper. Too funny that Dh fell asleep!!

Cat- Have a wonderful time at your shower today! You will have to let us know how it went. How was Dh's race this morning?

Peachy- Sorry to hear that the swelling has gotten worse! I would call your ob in the morning if it hasn't gone down. I love that bra. I am going to get it. What store did you buy it in? Maybe I could order it online. Also, what types of diapers did you buy and how many??

Maggie- Sounds like you got so much done! Don't you just love smelling all of the baby clothes?

Maybebaby- Yuck, that weather sounds awful! Hope you aren't going anyhwhere. I love your turkery gifts!!

Icy rain yesterday, it has melted now. I did absolutely NOTHING! Well, I did take a shower.

Hi Nat! Here's a link to the nursing bra. They seem to sell it at a lot of places but everywhere seems to be the same price. Don't freak out... but it's $62!! More than I spent on lingerie for my wedding night But, I have to say it's super comfy, has no underwire, still gives good support, is low cut so you can wear v-necks, and the cup drops completely away which is nice.
A Pea in the Pod is the nation's leading luxury maternity brand for the affluent client. A Pea in the Pod is maternity redefined!
For diapers, everyone seems to recommend the Pampers Swaddlers. I bought both the newborn and size 1. I figure I'll go through both of those.

Ok. I'm trying to drag myself away from Tom Cruise over here...

Thanks ladies! The gifts are very nice and the hats are SUPER cute!
Cat- those are very creative “stay warm” ideas! We actually did venture out today, it was nasty…Hope your shower was fun!
Havana- yes, it was bad, but it looked SO pretty this morning…then it started raining and now it’s just slushy! I’ll have to look into the birthing balls, thanks!
Peachy- I should have stayed in but, we had to shop I’m with you, looks like we need to pack a steamer trunk for all of our things! Lucky you, shoe shopping! Have fun
Nat-I like those relaxing days where you do absolutely nothing *sigh* we won’t have many of those soon

Peachy~ Did they ever say that you are for sure having your c-section? If so, when?
No need for the exercise ball if you have a c-section. They usually just tell you a time to come in, prep you, and then off to the OR. I will say one thing though, after the c-section....try and move around as soon as possible. This helps with recovery time. Of course take it easy, but try to move as much as you can stand.

Maybebaby- You look so beautiful!! Love the dresses you wear in the pictures. Sigh...I wish I were on a beach right now.

Peachy- That's about what I figured for the price of the bra. It's almost the same as some of the VSC bras that I have bought in the past. Thanks for the link. I am going to order both, cream & black.
