Wish I read all the reviews before I headed to the bookstore today. Anyway, here's what I bought but it sounds like I've got several more to add to the list:

The Girlfriends Guide to Pregnancy
Fearless Pregnancy
Two at a Time: Having Twins
The Multiple Pregnancy Sourcebook

What to Expect When Your Expecting (just as a reference book in case I have some symptoms - I too was warned by pregnant friends not to read it cover to cover)

I'll let you know what I think!

I picked up I'm Pregnant, a week by week guide from conception to birth, and it's pretty good. I'm sticking to the pregnancy part now-don't really want to think about delivery yet-and it's been informative and has some neat pics. I didn't like what to expect...it was a disappointment. I think I'll try some of the recommendations you guys made. Thanks!

if you like being orginanized or would like start being more organized, i would recommend Getting Ready for Baby: The Ultimate Organizer for Mom-to-Be...
here is what one reviewer says:

This is a very helpful book, esp. for first time parents trying to keep track of what you truly need for baby and what isn't crucial.

My only complaint with it is that it needs tabs so you can flip to the chapters more quickly. I'm planning on sticking self-adhesive index tabs into my copy. Tape along the edges of the front and back cover flaps turns them into handy pockets for ultrasounds scans, receipts, prescriptions, etc. In future editions it would have been nice if the publisher though of these things so you don't have to modify it yourself. It is nice that it is spiral bound and you can stick a pen into the spiral. It is small enough to fit into a purse if need be.
The chapters covered are:
Introduction
Key Contacts
Things to Do
Healthcare for Mom
Shopping For Mom
Shopping for Baby
Baby Shower and Gifts
Labor and Delivery
Back Home
Healthcare For Baby
Childcare
Resources
Each chapter offers tips about that particular subject, checklists, advice, space for notes, etc. I found the checklists super thorough -- but don't feel you have to get everything listed. It's just to help you. Don't feel obligated to buy every single thing before the baby comes either.
You can expect to use it through the pregnancy for sure and into part of baby's first year by tracking the pediatrician appts and notes in the "Baby Health" section. I would have liked a chapter for birthing class -- perhaps what types are available (Lamaze, Bradley, Hypnobirthing, etc.) and a place for me to take notes in when I went to class. Even just more blank pages at the very end would have been good for that -- there's only 1 page back there.

MaybeBaby-We all know you are our organization guru!! Thans for making the due date chart. I have the biggest smile on my face!!

Peach-let us know how the books turn out.

Oh and Ive pretty much read the entire what to expect when you're expecting book-noone told me to stay away. I dont think I learned much, and if there was a scary part, I just skipped it. It just looks very home-made picture drawings. I wanted more scientific and real picture info.

I Felt queesy ALL DAY yesterday. I was so happy about it though. I feel like the worse I feel the better so I know my baby is still growing in there! So hurray for BLAH!

well, our RE said to call and schedule an appointment with a specialist, so I did, but the nurse at the specialist's office said we don't need to do CVS, they will just do an u/s & some blood work... sounds like something that our regular ob/gyn could do... so, i don't know now... i figured i'll go to ob/gyn next Wednesday and ask them if they think i should do CVS or not... if they say to do it, i have an appoinment already and if they say i don't, i can cancel it...

gotcha, well the appt is a week after your obgyn appt, so that's plenty of time to cancel. I *think* that the u/s machine at the specialists office are stronger and you get more detail at one of their u/s. Not sure how they'd be doing any diff bloodwork from your reg dr though.

that's what i am going to ask them i knew there was going to be a confusion with me being over 35, but my "donor" is under 35...
