Welcome Vanessa and Bri!!!
Havana - I can't believe someone came out and asked you at work. No one has asked me yet but, my work clothes aren't super form fitting so I can camoflage it well. I have noticed my Admin starting at my belly once in a while...but we always have so many snacks in my dept...maybe she thinks I need to cut back on the snacks. hahahaha Peachy - Thanks for the tip about the maternity stores!! I hate how stores bring out the fall clothes when I'm still sweating my butt off in June! hahaha How do you like your hair? All you ladies are cutting your hair off and I'm trying to let mine grow a little! I am still recovering from a very bad short haircut I had in December! hahaha Well, last night was exciting, yes but, also very draining. My MIL and FIL are VERY excited so that is wonderful. But, my MIL couldn't really contain herself. When we told her how far along I am she said, "Oh. You waited to tell people. Well, that's OK." Gee....thanks...I really needed that validation. hahaha Then she said that she and my mother will throw me a baby shower and did I know of someplace she could rent out of the shower ot maybe she could have it at her house. Now, I KNOW my mom and sister...and I KNOW they're going to want to throw the shower with the help of some of the girlfriends I've grown up with (they're like sisters to me and my sister and like daughters to my mom). My mom is a wonderfully giving person but, she's not going to want to share this with my MIL...especially since my MIL all ready has a grandchild and has a daughter of her own to throw showers for...so, I am dreading either telling my MIL that I would rather my mom handle the shower or dreading telling my mom that my MIL should be part of the planning. Plus, my DH has a VERY small family...I think there would be 3 people there from his side of the family...my family is huge...there would be dozens of people there from my family. Ugh...why am I worrying about this NOW? Then I heard an inventory of the baby stuff she all ready has at her house for when we come over. Then we were asked if we've thought of names (?!). Then we were told that for the past couple of years she's been buying stuff and putting it away! I told her, "Please, no baby stuff yet. We are not thinking of that for ourselves yet and I have a pretty specific idea of what I like." I had to try to politely nip it in the bud. Don't get me wrong...the enthusiasm was great...we were happy they were so excited. But, man, was it overwhelming and kind of stressful...hahahaha

Good morning!!!
Vanessa and Bri - welcome!!! This is a wonderful thread! Boston - I'm glad to hear it went well!! Sounds like they were definitely enthusiastic!!! I would just talk to your mom about it when you tell her...I'm sure she will have some polite way of helping your MIL realize that this should be your mom's shower to plan! And, hopefully your MIL will be understanding of that. Your parents are you going to be so excited!!! We are having the 1st (2nd and 3rd ) grandchildren for my parents and they are so excited that they can barely contain themselves!!Peachy - yippee for new haircuts!!! I wanted to chop more as well, but my stylist wouldn't let me either! Isn't it refreshing just to have a clean look though? Thanks for the heads up on the sale....I agree with Boston - fall clothes already??? Sheesh! Mirka - hope all is going well with the family in town!!! Havana - we're like you...basically everyone who knows us knows I am expecting. I can't really hide it anymore. I had an appt yesterday with my regular dr and I've gained 6lbs in less than 3 weeks! I swear, every morning I wake up and feel bigger! Cat - how is your puppy?? We are heading out of town this weekend with a big group of friends. The guys are golfing and the girls are going to hang out at the pool. Not sure how much I'll be online, but it will be nice to get out of here for a while. My next OB appt is on Mon. I highly doubt they will do an u/s. But, I am curious to see if she is going to give me any restrictions now that I'm past 13 wks. I also want to have a long conversation about the puking and prenatals. Not sure how much more I can handle! Happy Friday!

Well, I'll have to wait a few days to tell my mom about my MIL's desire to co-host a shower...I think my mom will be hurt if she knows that my MIL knew before she did. I know that my DH and I will have to handle the shower situation...Family politics are so much fun! hahaha
Joy - have a GREAT weekend...it sounds like it will be a lot of fun!! I'll be looking forward to Monday to hear about your appointment!!

Boston- that's a tricky situation! My MIL has very firm ideas about everything and I try to tred very carefully there. Hmm, maybe you don't mention the shower again to MIL for a bit, then have your mom plan it as a "surprise" (hee hee, you of course will know) and then your mom sends out an invitation w/ "surprise" on it to MIL and SIL ... okay, this is getting complicated, but I would just not bring it up and if she does then say your mom has some plans already and you'll talk to your mom about contacting her. Hmm, maybe your mom could give your MIL something to do like ORDERING invitations? Or signing upto bring food!
Joy have fun! Doggie is doing better, my dh called the vet, and he said to put LOTS of neosporin on it and to prevent the dog from licking, give him 2 benedryl to keep him groggy all day. So mirka & peach- you guys were right on! Turns out the benedryl i gave him yesterday morning, he spit up w/out me realizing so he was awake all yesterday licking the wound when we weren't home. last night and today i hid the meds in some rolled up lunch meat. I figure I'm not eating it, might as well let the dog have some ![]()

Cat - I'm happy your doggie is doing better!
The thought of my MIL bringing food just made me laugh. She doesn't entertain...I don't know if she'd know how to throw a big party. She doesn't cook either...when we go over there for dinner, it's either pizza or subs. hahaha I'll figure it out...I've got a long way to go before I REALLY have to worry about it. Who knows, maybe my mom's reaction will surprise me and she'll want to share the hosting duties with my MIL.

Joy, just wondering what time of day you are taking your prenatals. I used to sell pnv's as a pharma rep in ob offices and have always heard that taking them at bedtime can help with the nausea that they sometimes cause (that way your body can break down the vitamin while you are sleeping). Just an idea...
As for haircuts... I've been itching to cut some off too but last time I was pg my face got so swollen and round. I think I'll try to hold out and hope that the longer hair hides some of that or that maybe it won't happen to me this time (ten years later). It's been raining here in KS for the last three days we are ready for a break. DD Casey is in a musical this morning. She's been singing showtunes all week. Yesterday she designed a "baby quiz" for me and dh on the computer. It's a big improvement from when we told her about the baby. We took her out to lunch on the patio in a busy shopping area here thinking it would be a happy occasion. Boy, were we WRONG. When we broke the news she hid behind her menu and cried for half an hour. She has 2 half-siblings on her father's side and is a bit fed up with the baby thing right now. But she seems to be coming around. Hopefully. Anyhoo... |

Joy - def. let us know that your Dr says about the prenatals at your appt on Monday! I still haven't started mine back up yet...since I'm still feeling sick all day, sleep is the only break I get from the nausea. I just can't seem to make myself try to take them with dinner or before bedtime again...they were making me wake up feeling so sick during the night! I know my OB said it's OK to take a break from them but, I'm starting to worry that it's going to be weeks before I feel well enough to try them again!
Robin - Wow...9 mo to a year wait for day care. That DOES require some planning!! I don't think I'll possibly be able to decide if I want to stay home or continue working until I'm actually in the situation. I guess if I want to continue working I'll be out of luck on the day care front!!! Vanessa - I'm happy your DD has come around. I am sure when she meets the baby for the first time, she'll be smitten!

First off
Vanessa and Bri! This is an amazing group, and we hope you enjoy it here!Boston-So glad it went well. Your MIL sounds like my step mom. Like a million miles an hour. Let's just hope she has a quieter mouth on her than mine did. Did she swear to secrecy? Isnt the SIL the one with the super big mouth? I like Cat's idea about the baby shower. Try to let it go for now, and then maybe she will understand later if they do it together. Peach-I bet your hair looks great! I cant wait to see it!! Robin-Im obsessed with finding a babymoon now. I have been looking up every carribbean island. I've been to a few, so Im trying to find a good one that has alot to do. I decided the caribbean because its not to far from Atlanta, and the flight would be short. Any suggestions anyone? Mirka-How's the company? I'm sure you are busy now, so let us know when you can about the cvs test. Im sure everything is perfecto! Joy-Have fun this weekend at the pool. Watch the sun, I heard that we get sun faster than non-pregnant women. Do you have a new swimsuit? Oh and weekend plans..hmmm trying to figure that out now, after our get away to the dirty dancing resort week (where we had no dirty dancing), DH wants to go somewhere again. I dunno, I think he feels cooped up ever since the IVF when we were homebodies all the time.

Robin... thanks for the comments about my DD. She is a great girl and I'm sure that it was just the shock of the announcement. She's been the only kiddo around here for her entire life so it'll be an adjustment.
As for babymoon's ... I am hoping that we will get away to somewhere relaxing and beautiful sometime this fall. I'm just craving some alone time with dh before we dive into the diaper changing routine. A little romance is just what the dr. ordered. |

Robin - My girlfriends have already warned me about the daycare. They tried to convince to come up with a fake baby name as soon as we started IVF! Several of the "good" places here are on 9-12 month waits too. I know most only required a $100 deposit to hold your spot so my friend put deposits at several places and then just saw which one came up first. I think I may do a mother's morning out group. My hubby is home a lot during the day (since he works nights) and my schedule is pretty flexible so that might be enough coverage for us and will keep me sane.
Joy - I love the haircut. I have to admit my hairdresser was right! It's the perfect length. Right at my shoulders now so I can still put it in a ponytail if I'm dying of heat. I hope you have a wonderful weekend. Get some sun for the rest of us pale ones! Boston - I'm so glad the big announcement went over well. I'm sure your MIL will calm down with time. I wouldn't stress about the shower right now. Once you tell your Mom, she'll take over and you can put it all in her hands! Maybe just include your MIL in one or two things so she feels part of the process. Maybe she likes to address envelopes and has good handwriting?! Cat - Glad the doggie is doing better. I hate it when mine is sad! What we do for these animals.. Welcome to the newbies!! I want to do a babymoon too. Hmmm. We've been invited to four weddings in the fall of which only one is local. I think we'll be skipping some! Pregnancy is a great excuse to be watching the budget.
