I hope you all have a great weekend too! I plan on taking it very easy. I *tried* to buy a pair of maternity shorts today but failed. There wasn't anything at motherhood that was cute in khaki and in my size. Why do stores start stocking fall clothes so early? Especially maternity, I mean who knows what size they will need in a few months. geesh. I have just one pair of shorts at the moment and it was working okay when i was only home weekends but we're going away for 5 days and I'm really going to need another pair....

I hear you on the shorts issue. I ended up going to an athletic store and buying a bunch of larges so that they would be comfortable, but they don't really look great. We're going away in a couple of weeks and I'd like some that look a bit cuter. sigh...

Cat - Hooray for your CVS results and the news of a little dude! Also -- have you tried Old Navy for shorts? Oldnavy.com: Shop Men's, Women's, Plus and Kids' Clothing - Maternity and Baby Clothes - Shorts and Swimwear -- their online selection is wayyyy better than their in-store selection which often seems to me like a garage sale exploded! Anyway, you get free return shipping and shipping to you is only $5.00.

Happy Saturday everyone!

Just got back from dragging DH to go to our last big baby store option. Hmmm. Now we have three cribs that we like and each one is very different. The only common element is they all have the high backs and each will covert from crib to toddler bed to full size bed (one of our requirements). And, we've figured out our top three boy bedding options.

MaggieMay - We just went to the store that has your rocker. Wow. There are tons of options and fabrics!

Cat - I hope you are feeling better and had some time to relax this weekend. Since this will be your second child, I have a question. All of the cribs have the adjustable mattress heights. Some have the front side of the crib frame fixed and some have the mechanism where the front side slides up and down to get the baby in and out. Do you think this is helpful?

I think I'm going to need an afternoon nap. Had to rush my doggie to the veternarian hospital this morning. He seperated his nail from the nail bed and was bleeding all over. This is the 4th time he has done this to one of his front paws!! Exactly why I don't need any more testosterone in this house! So, pup is bandaged up for the night and scheduled for surgery tomorrow. Yawn....

Hi Everyone!
I hope you all had a great weekend! I've been cleaning out the closet (that was packed to the brim) so it can be the baby closet. Quite the chore...and I have a LONG way to go! I got totally inspired by this nursery closet I saw in the pottery barn catalog. Take a look:
pottery barn kids | dresser system

MaybeBaby-I like to organize too! Isnt that adorable?? Dh and I think we can go to IKEA and get some good shelving without buying the pottery barn brand.

Anyway, I wanted to give you guys a website that has tons of pregnancy videos. If you type in anything pregnancy related into their search engine, you can watch a video. Have fun!

Brightcove - Video Search

DH went out of town to visit his family this weekend, and I stayed home. I must say, it wasnt too bad! hee hee... All the sudden I guess from talking to his mom and grandmother, he's all geared up and excited to buy stuff for the baby! AND he even wants to buy me a new chair for the living room and a new TV! WOW! He's getting all these ideas from his "daddy book" that I bought him awhile back. Evidently we can't lay on our backs after 20 weeks, so he wants to turn our living room into a home theater! -Peach, we'll have to have you over when it's done, for movies and popcorn. He's obsessed with Bose speakers and a chair where I can sit up..(we watch alot of movies lying in bed). As you can see, movie watching is a top priority for DH...whatever, glad he's getting excited.

Joy, Cat-How are you guys feeling? OK?
Cat did you order the monitor?
Joy, the pillow?

MaggieMay-Have you maxed out your credit card yet?? haha..You would be proud, DH and I went to the baby store that has your furniture on Friday. I loved so much, Ive got to start narrowing it down. My mom had my crib restored, and is giving it to us. DH melted at the thought. I've got to re-think my color scheme now. I wanted dark wood but my crib is white. I could re-stain it, but mom put all this work into it..

Peach-How's your Dog? Does he have a snazzy cast?

Mirka-Are you working on the farm? I dont want you working too hard!! Let DH do all the hard stuff!

How's everyone else? Any doctors appointments this week? I have the OB on Friday. I dont think its an ultrasound day, though. I bet there wont be too much to report.

Hi, hope everyone had a nice weekend. I ordered the Baby Bargains book from Amazon and read it over the weekend. It's a really great resource, evaluating and rating tons of baby items, especially the big tag items. I wanted to let you guys know that I found it very helpful. I actually brought it to BRU and baby depot and could reference the brands and their ratings really easily. (hope people didn't think I was too crazy w/ my book) It also has really good safety info, lots of things I would never have thought of. Just an FYI if you're interested, since most of us are out shopping for these things, or soon will be.

Peachy, I do like the lowering side part of the crib-- especially helpful if you're shorter. My friend who's 4'11" couldn't get her baby in & out w/out it, it also makes it MUCH easier to change a crib sheet.

I did not order the monitor DH says that it would freak him out so much more if we tried to listen and couldn't find anything.

I LOVE the pottery barn dresser closet system!!! I'm betting you could reproduce that look w/ something from lowes or home depot as well.

I started spotting a little more again yesterday but it's all darker, so i'm not freaking out about it, just trying to drink my water and taking it easy. Speaking of water, is anyone else having an issue w/ water lately? For some reason, it hasn't been appealing, I ended up drinking a lot of watered down lemonade this weekend because I didn't want plain water.

Hey Ladies!!!

Cat - CONGRATS on your baby BOY! How exciting!!! Now, you will have a boy and a girl, what a wonderful combination! And, I'm glad he was looking strong and kicking around! We will pray that those CVS tests come back with nothing but great news!!

MaggieMay - I can't wait to see this list you are going to come up with! We have to register in the next few days because all of my CHicago friends want to throw me an informal shower/going away party before we move on Aug. 4th. I really don't want to have something this early because I'm still so scared something could happen, but my friends will hear none of it, so I guess it will be pretty fun! Also, we are all here for you as you head in to your amnio this week. What time is your appt?

How is everyone else doing? Robin - have you put your house up for sale? We've had a few more showings and our realtor is making us leave our furniture in the house when we move, so we will be heading to Indianapolis with basically clothes, kitchen stuff, a mattress, computers (OF COURSE) and a few other things. How's that for depressing.

Oh! We had another dr. appt on Friday. My cervix is still holding very strong, so say lots of prayers that it continues that way! We are beginning the critical stage where my body could start to think that it is close to full term and go in to preterm labor. But, so far so good. I'm on un-restricted bedrest right now...if i'm at home, i have to be in bed or relaxing and activity must be very limited throughout the day.

And, our big news...we're having 3 GIRLS!!! Yep, Baby A was cooperative on Friday, so we now know we are in for a lot of estrogen in the house!!! I was kind of sad for dh that there is no boy, but he was actually very excited and we found the cutest bedding that comes in pink, lavender and mint green so that made me even more excited!

Happy Monday!

Hi Ladies...

I have just a sec. to write, but wanted you say -stay tuned for the BIG LIST later today!!! I started making a checklist style one and then started putting in links, explanations, etc. so it got a little long! It's in a word.doc so please PM me your email address if you'd like me to send it to you. If I post it, I think it might cause the whole forum to crash it's so long!

Also -- I organized it by categories e.g. "Health and Safety" which would include monitors, thermometers, etc. then "Nursery Furniture" - you get the idea!

Last thing - I have both Consumer Reports and Baby Bargains books as well as an arsenal of information from having ten nieces and nephews and two godchildren, so I used all three sources to put together my list.

Peachy -- Funny! I put a blurb in my list about convertible vs. drop side cribs!

Havana -- Such a sweet thing your mom did restoring your crib!!! Not to rain on your parade (I promise) but do check to make sure it still meets current safety standards. I'll find the website with the list and PM it to you. I didn't buy a single baby thing this weekend - can you believe it? I did hire the contractor to turn the room into babyland though....too much fun!

Joy -- I will work like mad to get this for you asap!!! Congrats on your triple threat girls!!! We are saying lots of prayers for you as you enter this critical phase. I just know everything is going to be just fine for your little girls.

Okay...off to the shower. Don't forget to PM me your email addresses (I promise I won't spam you!) if you want the list.

MM
