thanks girls, it doesn't sound like i've missed the glucose test or anything then. maybe they just do them at different times.

miranda, i am moving at the end of this month. i am sooo excited to get into a bigger place so i can start working on the nursery! my apartment now is so great and i'm giving up my ocean view - but obviously worth it for a nursery. you must be having so fun getting yours all ready. make sure you are covering your mouth so you don't inhale paint fumes!

mustlovedogs, so sorry you are sick! take care of yourself ... it is really brutal being sick and pregnant at the same time.

amber, i heard they negotiated a deal with the writers - so fingers crossed we are going to get some new episodes soon!

Laurie I do love the name Lily! Martie congratulations on the baby girl!!!!

We went to register this weekend! WOW – that took forever, but was SO much fun. I have two questions for everyone ….
1) What type of stroller(s) did you go with?
2) How many items are on your registry total???? I think we registered for too much stuff and now I am embarrassed! Hehe

We also ordered all the baby furniture this weekend too and it will be delivered in a few weeks! Picture of what we ordered below … we got the crib, the dresser/hutch combo, & tall 5 drawer dresser (not shown in picture) all in antique black. Then we registered for a very simple black changing table from babies r us.

My OB said she does the glucose test at 24-28 weeks …

Mustlovedogs I am sorry you have been so sick … my DH has been sick with the same thing – just not as bad as you.

I have registered for all my classes already
- breastfeeding
- Infant/child/adult CPR (we both have taken it tons of times, but taking again)
- Infant first aid/safety/misc. class (learn tons of things … clipping nails, bathing, illness, etc.)
- child birth classes

We registered this weekend too and I don't think I had quite as much fun as Lacey! I just got completely overwhelmed and had a hard time deciding on anything. The stroller section nearly did me in. (We ended up going with Chico Cortinna travel system. It got a high rating from Consumer's Report and has a relatively light weight carrier.) By the time we made it to the cribs, I was ready to just scan the first one I saw. Luckily DH kept a cooler head than me and did all the looking at cribs while I tested rocking chairs. All in all, we were in Babies R Us for close to 4 hours and I think we have 60 things on our registry. I'm exhausted just thinking about it again.

Amber- Register at the hospital? I'm not sure why I would have to do that...please explain.

Miranda- painting, stenciling and making curtains?? You are great! I cannot even sew on a button.

Laurie- You'll be working on your nursery in no time. Like I said, we are still in the making closet shelves and painting phase. We did pick put a crib/dresser, but haven't ordered it yet. I should be at the beach sometime in May

Kris- I did at GTT at 14 weeks, and I am going to have another one at around 24 weeks. I think the timing depends on how much risk they assess you to be.

Daysi- Hope you are feeling better!

We did register this weekend at babies r us...11 pages of stuff. EEKs!

Junebug- You preregister at the hospital you will deliver at, get a tour, and give them all your info, so when you go into labor, they know your doctor, have all your insurance info, and you just go right into your room without having to worry about all the paperwork at the time of delivery... I asked my SIL about it she said the Dr told her when to do it!! Since her and I have the same OB, I think after this appt. on Wednesday he will bring it up!! hope this answers your question.

AMy, I picked my crib on looks and function. I wanted the Antique black that could be boy or girl, and I wanted on that could convert to toddler to full size bed, the changing table is also a regular dresser, so I will not have to buy furniture later too. And yeah it had to meet the safety standards too.

OOh I dread that glucose test. I hope the stuff they make you drink has improved since 10 years ago. I almost puked the last time.

LAurie, I am glad to hear the little ones are improving. That is so great. I hope they keep it up! I remember the anxiety of moving before. MY DH was building our home when I was pg with our ds. We moved in the week before he was born! Thank goodness ds was 1.5 weeks late! I just bought all the stuff in advance and stored it, so I would have it ready. And you could certainly get online and pick everything out now.

Miranda, you have to post a pic of the nursery so we can see!

Daysi, I am sorry you were so sick, but I am glad you are recovering. I know it sucks to be sick while you are pg!

Lacy I went with the Britax vigour. I liked the way you could move the handle to push either way, and the black car seat that is compatible with it. And the bigger set of wheels too. Sounds like you are on the ball with the classes! I may look into some....maybe.......my other two survived and I did not do any of it. but the infant first aid sounds interesting. And maybe I will preregister at the hospital this time.......sounds handy

So where did you girls check out you reviews?

Thanks Amber. No wonder I hadn't heard of it. My OB is at the hospital where I am delivering, so they already know about me. Plus, I work at the hospital, so no tour necessary

Wow! lots going on. Miranda, you're so on the ball with the nursery stuff. I'm sure there is just so much satisfaction knowing you made the curtains and everything.

I wouldn't be embarassed by a small or big registry. Just because you put it on the registry, it doesn't mean people will buy it. I put the all the nursery furniture on with toys, etc from a boutique, then went to someplace that had practical items like car seats, bottles, and I even put a huge set of environmentally friendly diapers(washable) on there, too. The system is kinda pricey to begin with but with two babies, I'm sure that we could go through several thousands of diapers and I wanted something more 'green.' I'm sure the total number of items on both mine combined is like 200.

The only thing that is not on the registry is the stroller. It wasn't sold by both stores and the one store that does sell it doesn't have it in stock and has to order it, so I'm just having DH pick it up in nyc when he's there.

We had the hour-long scan(I think they call it level II in the states, right?) and the twin specialist said both girls are normal and healthy. I then sat down with my OB and she went over my test results. I don't have anemia, but I will get gestational diabetes very soon.

My result was 137 and 140 is failing. They scheduled an appt with the dietician this morning. There is so much I can't have! Plus, the portions are so small. I'm on a 2000 calorie diet overall. I have to eat all day long. It's a little depressing, but it's good to know all of this now. And I'll have to test my blood sugar 3x a week.

I think I am having this test now because I'm high risk for it being PCOS and having diabetes in my family.

Daysi, so sorry you were so sick. Glad it's mostly over. No fun, indeed.

Lacy, I'm planning on doing the orientation at the hospital when DH comes back from nyc. I don't know what classes are available, but the child safety ones are the ones I'm interested in.

Hope everyone else is ok and feeling good.

Grits- I can’t believe you took the plunge and bought all that. You are way ahead of me in that department. Although, thinking about it…we really do not have that much time left to arrange the nursery.

June- Congrats on feeling the baby. I love that furniture collection.

Christy- I’m glad your DH got to experience your boy’s movement. That is just awesome!

Laurie- My DH liked the name Naomi as well. I think both names are very beautiful. Sorry to hear about the GD. Hopefully it can be fixed with the diet.

Deepa- good to hear that you are in better spirits. Let us know how the appt with High Risk OB is going.

Lisa-Sorry about your fibroids. Do they hurt still? The good thing is that you are going to be watched closely by your doctor.

Miranda-I like that color too. Very calming.

Niki-I hope your OB’s appt goes well this week. Let us know if they let you know the babies gender.

Amy-I can’t wait for your results. Keep us posted.

Kris-I know you probably want to move soon and start on your little boy’s nursery. Hopefully, it will happen for you soon.

Lacy. I registered for the breastfeeding class, but I have to arrange the childbirth ones around my DH schedule which is never easy to do. Regretfully, there are no other classes at the hospital.

Amber-I am registered at the hospital. My OB gave me the paperwork on my first visit, and I registered a couple of months back.

Feeling much better, thank God. My company is already arranging everything for my departure. My HR gave me the information on my medical leave and things, so far, are running smoothly. The only thing that worries me is my baby’s child care. It seems that the day cares around here are saturated with applications and there doesn’t seem to be a space for me. I may be worrying about this issue too early in the game, but I just want to have a place for sure for when the time comes. We’ll see.

To All June ladiess-Have a Great Day.

Daysi, so glad you are feeling better. Very nice that your company is working with you to prepare. I don't think the daycare thing is too early. Since we are in the "honeymoon" stage of pregnancy, I think it is a good time to get as much done as possible. The Fibroids are "there" but not causing the pain like around Christmas.

I registered on line last weekend too-it was dreadful! I had already picked most of the big stuff in person. I have 10 or so items at Target and about 90 at Babies R us. But I also included a lot of small items like baby wipes x 5, lotions, shampoos, diapers, etc. Anyway, it was not fun doing it on line but I live in a small town where the Toys R US and Target have very few selections. Since I have a lot of people traveling for the shower, hopefully they can access the Babys R Us by in their own location. Otherwise, I will get a lot of baby wipes. ha

Grits, where do you get the Tigerbalm?

Hope everybody is feeling well.

Deepa, so sorry to hear that. It affects Asians a lot. I got hit from both sides of my family, then. My 'white' side has diabetes, and I guess my Asian side didn't help either.

My dietician is Indian. She was really sweet, and she had all these rubber foods scattered around. I had to learn about portion control. Fats and sugars are out for us for now. I had to buy margarine for the first time. I hate the stuff, but I'll do what I gotta do.

It was really hard to follow the prescribed daily portion intake. I got really hungry in late afternoon, but had to wait for dinner. She's also given me a late supper snack which I wasn't used to at 9:30pm. I have to say it's helped me not feel super hungry this morning.

I have my appt with the diabetes education nurse next tuesday. That's when I learn how to measure my blood sugar. I'm so not looking forward to pricking my fingers!

Good Morning ladies!!

Deepa I will be thinking of you today. Pacing of course. I hope you get all your questions answered and the high risk Dr is able to put your mind at ease.

Laurie uhhh the whole pricking the finger thing gets easier with time.....I have done it for years because I have low sugar and have had to watch it.

Lisa just think how many wipes you will need soon LOL I have yet to register and have to do so soon. I already have people asking. Maybe this weekend. I too think I am going to get overwelmed by the choices LOL

Daysi I think planning for daycare is a smart move at this point in the game. I run a daycare and have a two year waiting list most of the time. I am sure you will find the perfect place that will adore your lil one!

Grits I promise I will post a nursery pic soon. I want to at least get the furniture in the room and the stenciling done What about your nursery pics girl...I hear you have been nesting!! I am eager to see!!

Junebug cant wait to see pics of all the hard work you guys are doing preparing!!

Kris your move is coming up and you will be getting your nursery ready in no time!! Ocean view huh....can I come stay with you for a few days....we have snow, rain and cold LOL

to all the gals I missed hope you are doing well. Happy wed!!

I am doing good. still working on the nursery.....little at a time...I get tired fast it seems LOL
I also notice I am starting to get uncomfortable alot....at night I feel like a 80 year old woman when I walk....anyone else having this??
