I'm not scared to turn 30. I look back at all the stuff I have done and what is to come and am really happy that I have made it this far. My experience with J has changed my perspective on quite a few things.

30 honestly wasn't that bad for me. I panicked more when I was about to turn 20 because I truly wasn't a kid anymore. Plus, I LOVED being 19. I don't know why.

I am happier now at 31 (almost 32) than I ever was in my 20's. I used to be scared of being a "grown up" but now I kind of like it.

Lisa-I know you can do it! You did a great job with the last pregnancy

What is going with the world today? Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson dead in the same day.
I am completely shock at MJ's death. Sad. We do need an icon with tears. Darn it .

What Would You Do?

What would you do??

Here's the sitch-
My parents and I have been planning to go to Arkansas and visit my grandmother and extended family over the 4th of July weekend. My mom told me a couple of days ago that several members of the family have contracted staph infections (MRSA, to be specific). My uncle had a bad staph infection a month or two ago and nearly lost his finger (he is diabetic, which didn't help). My aunt still has an open sore on her belly and it is so bad that she will never work again and has been put on permanent disability. The new cases are 2 of their grown, out-of-the-house kids. It seems to be confined to that one family.

Here are my questions-
Would you still go?
What if you were assured that none of the infected family members would be in contact with your LO?
Would you ask that my uncle also stay away since he lives with my aunt (who has a current infection), even though he has been given the all-clear from his doctor?

Thanks for any insight you all may have. My knee-jerk reaction was that Audrey and I would just stay home. But the more I think about it, the more conflicted I am about it.

Katie-I don't know if you remember that I had that when I was with Desi. I don't know how in the world I got it, and it may have been because my immune system was out of whack.
This being said your LO is barely 1 yo. Her immune system is just developing so if I was you, I wouldn't go.
If the whole family got the illness, then it could be that they are probably not being very careful on covering the wound (s) and/or washing their hands, etc. You can not use their personal items (soap, towels, I don't know about glasses, etc).
I know I was careful b/c I didn't want DH or co-workers to get it. In fact, I mentioned it at work b/c I didn't want anybody around me to get infected. That would have made me feel bad.
Sorry you have to be in that situation to choose whether to go or not. MRSA can be highly contagious if you are not careful.

Katie-as a nurse knowing MRSA, I, undoubtedly, would not go. There is a high risk of recurrent infections w/ MRSA if you get it once..................re the Staph, we all are exposed to staph daily and usually only get infected if open sores and low immune system, regardless, I would not go.

just my 2 cents

Daysi-yes, very sad days lately.............I dont think it really has sunken in.

katie, I think everyone would understand if you were worried about your baby contracting a bacteria that is potentially deadly in regular folk, more especially in the elderly and babies.
lisa, you are almost there. i delivered a 37 wks and 2 days and it was considered normal. any day now!!

Hi ladies! thanks for the wish's for Jason! I wish they were sooner, poor baby is sick again! Now he is getting over the flu and a sore throat. He is one of those kids that will catch everything it looks like! YIKES but my mother and dad were here this week on a visit so I had help with the diapers that "runith over" and the projectile vomit and the 102.5 fevers along with hubby............... my mom and dad left today and it is the first time Jason is feeling better no fever and all smiles BUT he has not eaten a meal in a week other then formula, he can not tolerate formula, ( more tests on that one coming) and he is eating about 12 oz a day it is heart breaking! I know he is hungry but he is not dehydrated he has tears and does pee so I keep trying, the Dr said give him salty things that will make him want to drink. We give him pringles and ritz crackers and those work some BUT he will not drink water so I gave him some of my iced tea and wha-la guzzled it! so now he is addicted to it and I give it to him ( caff free) to get him to drink, it may not be the best thing for him but I will do anything to get him to drink and I load it with sugar ( per the Dr) to get the calories up so it is not "empty caleries), I feel sooo bad!

Anyway sorry for the complain and run message I hear a fuss pot downstairs with daddy starting to climb the stairs!
