i did have an appt today and had both ketones and sugar in my urine along with 1+proteins, so this week i have to have the 24 hour protein test along with a long list of blood work.

i start going in 2 times a wk next week for stress testing and pre-eclampsia screening....oh fun!

not too worried yet, as i have no other signs - no headaches, no blurred vision, no high blood pressure, and no seeing stars.......the only thing at this point is 1+protein and edema (very bad, as it is almost to my knees).

well the countdown is on!

Who is gonna get here first???

Shelley's triplets!!! without a doubt!

Alana, thanks for the perspective. I'm so sorry to hear of the elevated heart rate for Reed, but am glad they are monitoring it. What a lousy time to lose your OB! I completely understand about the chocolate and if you had to give that up....I was just telling my husband how frustrating it felt to think I would have to follow a special diet--almost feels like punishment when I've always tried to be sensible. In fact, one of the things I've enjoyed was ;etting go a bit and indulging myself a bit more in this pregnancy, satisfying cravings etc.

Now in the last trimester, with all the discomfort, and the oppressive heat I realize I'll be relieved to get these babies delivered and move onto the next phase in this adventure!

Justine-yaaay for passing the three hour test, and I am sorry you have to go through the uncertainty, but I am sure everything is just fine with your little bean. And I agree with Alana I think more of this stuff is picked up due to better testing...let us know how the appt with the nutritionist turns out.

Alana-hope the appt goes well tomorrow...I noticed my little guy has gone up to 160s a few times, are you getting the 180 on your home doppler or at the doctors? I agree with the chocolate thing, I try and stay away from it but lately it is all I want to eat, well along with green olives!

Christine-I hope your appts go well from now on! And the swelling goes down, and it is a good sign that you dont have any preeclampsia signs.

Shelley-I looove the name carter but if you already have a conner it might not sound right...hmm I will have to look up some names since we have already settled on a name for our guy I could live viacariously through you! I always invisioned a fight over the name and DH and I would have to come up with a list of several names, but alas we both agreed pretty quickly!

Baby is moving like crazy lately! And I am def. feeling actual body parts moving!

Christine you're right--the countdown is beginning--for some of us more than others. I'm glad to hear you're not freaking out and that they are being very cautious with your care.

I was thinking about Shelley's names too! THis is awful to say but I'm getting rather caught up in just getting to the finish line I haven't been so concerned about having everything in place...which I really should as who knows when I will go into labor or another med complication may pop up. I had a boy and girl name but knowing it's two girls, I have my one girl name I love and have not found another that I feel as strongly about. I do have a select few on my short list. I'm sounding like such a non-model expectant mother right now, geez. If I can get some sleep tonight maybe I'll have a fresher outlook tomorrow. All the tough symptoms are coming into play now: heat, veins, pain in legs and hips, G/I stuff, some depression and low energy....just getting around has been a struggle lately. I need to chill a little bit I think, definitely an A/C night.

Sorry this is so long - I had a lot of catching up to do!

Hi ladies! Haven't been on in a while. Just hot & tired, extremely tired. This humidity in NY is unbearable. I've spent the last hour catching up on all the posts. I can definitely attest to the leg cramps, hip aches & now some headaches. But I think I really need to stay hydrated. I'm getting so big! Will have to post another picture soon.

Forgive me if I go out of sequence as I'm trying to remember everything that's been going on with everyone.

Shelley - love the new belly pics! My little one moves around a lot but it must be so amazing feeling 3 little ones moving around simultaneously! Love it!

Alana - I'm so glad you had a good time in NYC! It's so great & so much to do.

Sarah - we went to a wedding a few weeks ago & all I was able to do is slow dance which was pretty funny since I couldn't stand too close to DH because my belly is so big! Glad everyone else thought it was cute! I love to dance, as soon as I hear music I start to move. So it was hard to sit still. Everyone time I would attempt I had to pee! This baby does what I call the bladder dance!

Justine - I was borderline GD with my 1st child & surprisingly passed my 3 hour test with this baby (but failed the 1 hour). Everything was fine, however, I did have a 9 pound baby. My OB's office will only let me see the nutritionist if I fail the 3 hours test. But perhaps you can follow the GD nutrition plan. I would actually like to do that just to be safe. Does anyone have a sample plan to follow?

We finally cleaned out the baby's room & the contractors will begin on the 21st! Can't wait to have everything done. Although the furniture won't be in until the end of August - talk about cutting it close. I guess it's ok since I'm getting the crib from my SIL. My DH & BIL will put it together when the room is ready. And I ordered the changing table from BRU today. I also have a bassinet so I guess getting the dresser & bookcase after the baby arrives won't be too bad. Plus I still have the same glider chair when I had my DD 5 years ago. It still works!

BTW - did anyone get a crib mattress? I've been checking out the reviews & it's so confusing since there are always mixed reviews. I didn't want to spend too much but also don't want a crappy mattress. Also, regarding the sheet savers - all I did with my 1st was get 2 waterproof mattress pads (always keep an extra in the closet in case you have to change a wet sheet in the middle of the night). I had regular fitted crib sheets & made sure the sheet was on nice & snug. I swear the sheets never moved. But I was 1 of those moms who had the video monitor on all night & would wake up to check frequently. Had the monitor right on my night stand.

Christine - I'm glad your OB is being so diligent with those tests because that's so important. Hope all goes well each week.

I go for a growth u/s on Thursday then a visit to my OB. My baby is currently measuring on the large side. We shall see if she'll be arriving a week earlier. I've been secretly hoping for an August baby!

We planned on naming our little girl Corinne Julia (or Jewel), but now my DH wants to name her Rachel. Ugghh, figures now he's changing his mind. But I'm pretty sure I will win.
Ok, my eyes are buring from exhaustion. Have a good night!

8 weeks to go!

Jill

Justine, Congratulations on passing the GD test! wooohoo! That is great

Alana, sorry to hear that you have the stress of worrying about Reed's heart. It is good that they are monitoring it. I hope you get a good OB substitute.

Christine, it sounds like they are keeping a close eye on you to ensure you and the baby remain healthy. That is good that you do not have the signs of pre-eclampsia!!! I worry about my swelling and the doctor is watching it closely too.

LOL at Nicole's baby Sunday....but then again at least her baby has a name unlike my little boy

The names we have picked out are Tia and Connor. Whew!

I have gotten lots of great ideas from people and I really appreciate but it still seems to be a problem. I think we just need to pick a name and stick with it even if someone we know does not like it. We were going to go with Tyler and then FIL did not like it and then DH remembered someone named that and decided he did not like it etc etch. We were thinking of Ryan for a bit and then that idea went sour too. LOL

I have liked Luke for a long time. We are thinking about that one now. FIL does not like it, I just found out. LOL I think we need to just stop asking people what they think. We did like Carter too but with Connor and Carter and then Tia....it just sounds a bit odd. It might be best to go with 3 totally different, unrelated names. Oh heck what do I know???

Alana- good luck today!

Christine- hopefully it will be nothing to worry about as long as they keep a watch.

good luck to all of those that are still waiting on the 3 hour gd tests!

Jill- I like both the names Im sure you guys will come to an agreement soon. I know what you mean my dh kept going band and forth between two names too the other kids were our deciding factor they did not like Janelle. We are also thinking about going out to get the crib mattress this weekend. Any suggestions I am looking at the sealy. Good luck at thurs. appointment they keep telling me Tori is measuring big but she seems to be measuring right on track according to the weeks information I read.

Shelly what ever you pick out for his name will be awsome just don't name apple or banana (j.k you can if you want I won't make a peep). Luke was one of the names we liked besides Jackson, and Samuel.

Sarah isn't weird when you can tell the whole arm or leg is waving around it feels neat. Two of my kids lay next to me and say everytime she moves is that her, is that still her. Dh has yet to be patient enough to feel her move or my oldest ds. DH tries ordering her to move LOL he gets so silly. He says he has plenty of time for him to kick since Elizabeth has been kicking him in the shins when they play since she has been around 4 he figures it may be hereditary.

Amy-that is too funny, my DH is too impatient too and he doesnt press hard enough. He finally felt a really hard kick this weekend but has yet to feel anything more, I think he falls asleep when he is doing it!

Justine-I know people who had no clue what they were going to name their baby and didnt decide until a few days after he was born! So you have time, and i would think it would be hard to come up with two names that fit and sound good together...you are a model-momma! I know how you feel with all the side effects!

Shelley-I love those names together-Luke, Tia, and Conner! I say go with it and dont worry about FIL or anyone else for that matter!!! It is your choice after all, maybe FIL doesnt like anything that isnt his name, lol!

Jill-cant believe you only have 8 weeks!!! I was worried because I only have 11 weeks, ahhhh!!! Its hard to believe we are at this point already, seems like just yesterday our little ones were just starting to cook!

Alana-hope all goes well today, I will be praying for you and Reed! Let us know how it all works out!

As for matresses I think Shelley suggested a matress from WalMart a few weeks ago and I went and checked it out and found two, one was around $50 and the other was $80, I dont remember the names but do remember the 80 dollar one got better reviews and it was a Sealy and I also found I liked that one better when we checked them out at the store. We registered for one at BRU but it is around 120 and we plan on actually buying it ourselves so we will probably go with the one at Walmart, why pay more when we dont have to right?! We made plans to go this friday, and I get to go to red lobster so I can have shrimp and crab legs, YUMMY!!!!

Justine - great news that you passed the 3 hour! From what I understand getting gestational diabetes is just a warning sign that you could develop it later in life but it is by no means a direct correlation. I know exactly what you mean about feeling upset about the diagnosis - I have no diabetes in my family, do not eat a lot of sugars (but alas I am a carb whore), am not overweight, etc., etc. but I was a little more prepared for it because with my PCOS I was insulin resistant and I was told by my maternal fetal medicine doc that it is much more common in multiple gestations. I am so hoping that I pass on Wednesday but I am coming to terms with the need to change my diet regardless - oh well, it is what is best now and going forward honestly so I might as well get used to it. I've started panicking a bit about health issues and wanting to be in the best physical health possible to live a long healthy life with these babies so maybe this is the jump start I need!

Alana - sorry to hear that you are having some stressful situations but it is great that you are being monitored and can really be well informed about what is going on.

I hear you all on the growing discomfort - I too can't sleep very well, this rib/upper abdominal pain is driving me to the brink of insanity, I literally can't walk if I sit for too long, hip, back pain is miserable and I am super, super tired lately BUT I want to feel like this for at least 10 more weeks, what's 10 weeks in the grand scheme of things, ya know!

The mattresses I got were Sealy Ortho Rest Walmart.com : Sealy Baby - Ortho Rest Mattress : Bedding & Decor It feels a bit hard but apparently babies are suppose to sleep on a firm mattress and it got good reviews.

We are still thinking about Luke. (I know I must be driving you girls crazy..) I mentioned it to MIL and she like it but said she would call him Lukie. Why is it that they have to add ie on the end of every name to make it sound cute? Gosh, I hope she doesn't call Connor ~ Connie!! LOL

OMG Sarah - chocolate and green olives? What a treat!! Pregnancy is a funny thing, isn't it??

Alana - I'm sorry to hear that Reed's HR keeps going up. I hope that everything turns out to be ok. It is such a stress. We're all praying for you and him.

Christine - stay off your feet and take extra vitamin C and E and calcium, I hear that is supposed to help ward off pre-eclampsia - not sure if it works, but it's worth a try.

I love all the names everyone has picked out and I can't believe how close you all are to due dates!! How exciting!
The names we picked are Caroline Andrea (pronounced On-dray-ah) and Peter ? - can't agree on a middle name yet. Working on it.
Had an US yesterday - babies are doing well. She is 2 lbs 7 oz and he is 2 lbs 3 oz. Cervix is still shortening but the closed part is 3.2 cm so they did not seem worried although I am. Here's hoping they stay in there another 9-10 weeks or so.
