Yeah you would think they would have top notch equipment. I also wish he talked more and had a sense of humor but he stared at the screen the whole time of the u/s and you could tell he was looking hard and looking at all the details. That is what I need though a doctor who pays attention to everything and is serious about what he does.

Elisa-had that happen twice with me and both times I freaked out, cried and thought the same thing...miscarriage here I come and was so relieved when I saw my little bean when I went for an u/s, both times. It is scarry and makes you worry but as long as there aren't any clots or it's as heavy as a period with cramping you should be ok...did they tell you if they thought there was a reason for the bleeding. It was also followed by pink spotting, the whole experience lasted for a day or so. I also thought the baby wasn't moving but DH said he saw the little one moving so now I wait until the 11th to see him or her again. I think that's the real torture after having something like that happen, is not knowing how the bean is doing! Take a deep breath and put your feet up and make DH make you dinner =) Sending you cause I know what a scary experience it can be, especially going to the ER!

Alana-no I am holding off because I read somewhere to only do it every 3 days or so, so I will try tomorrow and then maybe thursday because by then I will be 10 weeks! I hope you get yours soon and can hear the little bean! I finally listened to the DVD they send and it's actually pretty informative. They say that the placenta sounds like wind through the trees or something and I heard that sound but twice on opposite sides of my uterus area and figured it must be something else because I really don't think I have two in there....I just hope tomorrow is the day I will hear it! And did you rent yours? Because if you did mine charges from the date they ship it from their factory so I would make sure they give you an extra few days!

Shelley-I am sooooo glad everything looks good! And yeah what a late night, I probably would have fallen asleep at the visit! My doctor too is lacking in the personality department...but his staff more than makes up for it. My u/s tech is fantastic and jokes around and just makes me feel comfortable. But it is hard with a doctor like that, and I dont know about you but I am pretty outgoing and talkative and the silence makes me nervous and I usually end up babbling about nothing! All that protein must be working if the little ones are measuring ahead!! Oh and I like the name Jack...actually I am a little biased because we are pretty sure our name for a boy will be Jackson!

Wow I know it's a long post but I wanted to ask if anyone is in maternity clothes yet or wearing clothes that are bigger? I can still fit in stuff but I feel uncomfortable...I am living in pajama pants but I go back to work on Monday and know I am going to actually have to wear pants! I don't really want to get any maternity pants yet but gosh I am super uncomfy! And I was spotting free for three days, WAHOOO!!! And then yesterday I had some weird spotting that I really haven't ever had before but it was gone by last night so I give up and am actually getting nervous if I DON'T get spotting ever now and then, weird huh?! Ok well my days of freedom are almost over so I am going to finish what I wanted to get done mid-week and never got to! Have a great weekend!

Hi ladies,

Wow! So much has happened around here. This is amazing! We have a great little group of September mums here.
Sorry I've been MIA for a while. Alana and Justine and all the other ladies who have joined within the last few weeks. I'm so happy everybody is doing great. I still have some more catching up to do.
Everything has been great with me and the little one. I went in last week for an ultrasound and the bleeding area was completely gone! I was so happy and relieved to hear that. The baby was measuring 8w6d at 2.21 cm. That's a whole inch growth in one week! Strong hearbeat at 171, just perfect. And the best part is I got to see a 3D view of the baby. I tried to attach a picture, I hope it works. The arm and leg buds were there and I was just amazed by the whole thing. After the doctor left, he left the 3D picture on the screen. So I was in my panties trying to take a good picture of the screen with my phone and the nurse walks in! Ugh! That was embarrasing. She started shaking her head and laughing Hehe..
Anyway, I've been feeling a little sick lately but other than that everything is great. So happy to hear all my favorite prego ladies over here are doing good.

Catch you all later!

Alana and Sarah thanks so much for your reply!

I am 12 weeks, 4 days today. Sarah, I was actually going to send you a PM before I had seen your post. I wasn't told by ER what the reason for my bleeding could have been just that all was okay. I did call OB the next morning but was told since ER had done an u/s and baby showed to be fine all they could recommend was getting "pelvic rest". My next visit with OB isn't till March 13th. I also had more bleeding this morning, I didn't go to the ER but have gotten plenty of rest today and no more bleeding or spotting as of now. My concern now is that I have a NT scan on Monday morning and if I recall correctly I think they said it's done w/ transvaginal ultrasound. If OB's office recommended pelvic rest not sure if I should still have it done since I've had the bleeding. I tried calling OB but their office closed at noon on Friday so I had missed them. ugh!

As for your question on maternity clothes. I had gained 10 pounds before ER/ET. I haven't gained any weight afterwards but I can no longer button up any of my pants. I walk into maternity clothes stores but when I see everyone in there with noticable belly's I tell myself its still too early and walk out empty handed but I am with you, my clothes are no longer comfortable!

Wow I love you baby picture Ebru!! I am so happy for you! Don't feel bad about taking your picture with your cell phone. I asked my dr for a picture after we were back in his office and he said he only took some for my file. I think I had that 'deer in the headlights look' because he said he had just thrown one in the garbage ~ and then he retrieved it and gave it to me!! LOL

Sarah, I began wearing lots of stretchy yoga pants. It is worth it to invest in a couple of good pairs of black ones. You can pull off wearing them with a nice top and dress them up a bit. I actually bought two pairs at Motherhood that are awesome. They have a soft fold down waist and lately I can not stand anything that feels tight or rough on my tummy!! They are inexpensive too. (they actually look better than the picture .. must be the funky shoes) Motherhood Maternity Clothes, Maternity Clothing and Maternity Accessories On-Line

I bought a pair of maternity jeans that are really comfortable and have thin legs so they look stylish when you wear a top that covers the stretchy waist. I am wearing baby doll tops that I bought in the regular dept. I was looking forward to a cute little baby bump but I think I am just going to get big all over!

Elisa-you should be fine with the ultrasound, but ask the doctor or tech, whoever does them will be able to tell you if you should do it or not. I am afraid that is what my doctor is going to say and not have me come in for an u/s...but I am used to this by now and I think it's going to be a "normal" part of my pregnancy, but I hope your bleeding stops! Good luck at your NT scan.

Babysteps-thanks for the link...I am going to check it out right now and the nice thing about where I work is that I don't even have to dress up, four year olds don't really care how nice you look. And I have ruined too many nice shirts or pants with paint or other stuff to dress up anymore!

I posted on the We're pregnant thread but wanted to ask here too, has anyone passed clots? I have been spotting since Friday, not concerned about this until last night when I passed three or four poppy seed sized clots that were dark red?? I was spotting but when I passed these clots there was no additional blood with them, isn't that weird? I wasn't planning on calling my doctor tomorrow, but I guess I will! Again I doubt they will do anything for me since I was in the ER less than a week ago and all looked fine. And my mother and MIL are driving me nuts with constantly asking me "How are you doing" and "take it easy"...I know they are trying to be nice but man it is irritating and the hormones only make it worse! Anyone try their doppler lately??

Sarah, I am sorry you are passing clots. I would definitely call your doctor on Monday.

Wow I can't believe I posted twice and didn't even know.....I think I have finally lost it!!

I felt kind of funny about buying maternity pants at first because I just look chubby and not pregnant but I have so happy I did. It is sooo much more comfortable. I also got a pair of black pants that are more dressing. They are an all over stretch material and have the fold down waist that I like. I just don't want to spend a lot of money on clothess that won't fit me long. I am expecting to get really big...

Elisa, good luck with the OB tomorrow. I hope your bleeding has stopped. They did a tummy scan for my NT scan maybe they can do a tummy scan for you too? My thoughts and prayers are with you!!

Thanks Shelley, I tried the doppler after I posted and think I found the baby's heartbeat...once it shot up to 168 but I really didn't hear anything, but then after a few minutes I found what sounds like the placenta...the DVD said it sounds like wind through the trees, how funny is that, and I did hear that type of sound and only in the one spot, and a heartbeat behind it but the display only went up to 100, so I'm not sure what is going on but I was kind of excited to at least hear something...I really want to try it again but am afraid it will hurt my little bean!

Elisa-good luck again tomorrow, can't wait to hear the good news!

Sarah that is pretty cool that you heard the babies hb and the placenta. The lower heartbeat was probably yours. I do not have a doppler. I am scared, probably because I do not know much about it. Can it hurt the baby? Do you have to time how long you use it?

From what I read it varies from using it everyday to only two or three times a week for 7-10 minutes...just like most things there is not just one answer. I am still not convinced that I actually heard the baby...it seems a little high up but who knows, in my head it was my little beans heartbeat. But from what I understand it can't hurt the baby, plus it is something the doctor uses so I would assume it isn't harmful...

I have not attempted to use my doppler since i first tried at 8 weeks. I asked the nurse at my ob and she said that it is perfectly safe to use. She just recommended not trying to find the baby's heartbeat in the middle of the night because the Dr. would be pretty upset if I called in the middle of the night because I couldn't find the heartbeat. But to be on the safe side once I am pretty sure we will be able to hear the heartbeat then I will probably use it twice a week.

I know they were able to find my baby's heatbeat at the Dr. with their fetal doppler but the Dr. said that their fetal doppler is more sensitive than the ones that you can rent and that it cost $1000. So I think I might hold off to later this week when I am 10 weeks.

dopplers are great!!!!! even when the baby is bigger you just have to make sure you are not getting the thump thump coming from the placenta......when you get what you think is the heart, check your own pulse and see if it is thumping at the same rate as the sound.....

right now you should be able to find the heart closer to the bikini line, and try facing the doppler toward a pelvic bone - when i was in the hospital with the twins, this is how the nurses did it almost every other hour i was there - it was good to hear their little hearts thumping away

i was thinking of getting one myself, however, am not sure weather this could cause me more stress than i am already feeling about each week this wonderful event continues.

Have a great week girls, i will be in and out - busy busy busy with work and volunteering with taxes.
