My house set up will be simple. It is a one story. I was originally thinking of putting an arms reach co-sleeper in the bedroom in the beginning so I could nurse and not have to get out of bed. The nursery is right next to our bedroom so I am not sure if that is very practical or not. Chances are I will hear ever sound that comes out of that room.

During the day I will put them in papasan chairs or a swing. I have heard from other Mom's that often the babies will be happy to sleep in them during the day.

My MIL suggested the craziest thing on the weekend. It made me wonder if she is losing it. She said that she has been looking for a used Pram stroller for me to use in the house to move the babies from room to room. LMAO Seriously my house is small, only 2 bedrooms. I can sit on the couch and see through the nursery door. PRAMS are huge and there is no way it would fit in my house especially with 3 bouncer/viibrating seats, a swing and possibly a pack n play set up in the livingroom!!! I told her it would not work. My mistake...should have smiled and noded She said the old line "you've never had children so you don't know what it will be like" She told me that I would need to bring the babies into the bathroom when I have to go or take a shower. Is she serious? I have small bathrooms and I am not sure how I would fit 3 babies in there with me. I definiately know a Pram stroller will not fit!!!

My DH is a computer tech guy so he is going to set up a camera in the nursery so we can watch the babies. He thinks it would be neat to watch them from work. LOL I joke that he wants to keep an eye on ME!! Hummm I've got to think of some crazy things to do to get him going It's got to be baby and work friendly though....

Shelley thats funny about the MIL suggestion. I'm with you here...how on earth are you supposed to fit all three babies plus a baby carriage into a bathroom?? Thats pretty funny actually, I guess everyones just trying to figure out the logistics of triplets. I think you have the right idea though, keep them in the nursery and chairs/swings with monitors as with a small house theres no need to start adding more clutter. I'm sure they would be fine in their cribs while you showered if you have a portable device linked to the monitor. Thats what I plan on doing.

Justine, the Baby Bargains book is not a big fan of buying extras like bassinets either, and its suggestion for the early weeks when we are all trying to get into a routine is to buy a Graco 'Pack n Play' as it has a bassinet attachment that can be used for the baby to sleep in the first few weeks, but its also your play pen for the baby that you will use for many months. They suggest it sells for just over $100 at BRU and I definately think it sounds like a good idea. I guess I just want to know what the benefit of having the baby in the bedroom is. I mean, even if its easier to breastfeed them...won't we have to go into the nursery to change them anyway? Wouldn't it just be easier to keep them in there? I'm confused too!!

Alana - love your nursery already. I started looking around today trying to get ideas for a boy/girl room since they will share for as long as possible and there are a lot of really cute options!

About the (.)(.) - unfortunately, mine haven't grown all that much other than the nipples and it kinda freaks my dh out - he actually asked me the other day if they would ever go back to normal!!!

Justine - I tivo all of the baby shows, especially multiples one just because I want to see someone make it work and how they do it!!! I am really scared of the first few months and how overwhelming I think it is going to be.

Logistically we plan to have two of the twin pack and plays with two bassinets and have one in our room (luckily our room is upstairs as is the soon to be nursery) and one downstairs that we will eventually take with us when we travel or take them to the in-laws since we hope they get used to sleeping in them and can do so anywhere - probably very wishful thinking! I'm sure you've seen it but here is a pic -

Oh, and that reminds me - I went to the doctor yesterday and I've only gained 4 pounds since my last appointment - I just don't know what I can do to gain weight - I have put on about 10 pounds and it is supposed to be 20 at this point!!! I am definitely "showing" - people out and about don't even hesitate to ask how is baby or when are you due - they definitely assume I am pregnant and not just fat, but apparently I haven't put on enough!!! The babies are both measuring right on target so my concern is a little alleviated but I would still like to do what I am supposed to do!!!

Alana- very nice nursery! you are going to have so much fun organizing it. The other one I love that people say to me is... Wow arn't you getting bigggggggg.

Fossie- has you dr. said anything about weight gain or they just happy the babies are measuring well?

We will use a bassinet in our room for the first 2 or 3 months. (Already have one from the other kids). I have just always liked having them close where I could rub their backs. (I know silly but comforting for me. Her room is acutually the furthest away from my room with the way the bedrooms are set up but still not that far. I am not sure if I am going to set up a pack n play downstairs or just take the bassinet down when I need it... still alot to think about. We are getting I think it is called an angel care monitor where it also monitors the babies breathing. My friend has one and says it is great! Her song has severe reflux. I also plan on a bouncy chair and a swing. Dh laughs and says he doesn't think there will be a need because he really doubts she will ever be put down between the five of us.

Alana-I looove the nursery!! And I am feeling motivated just looking at it! Maybe when we are registering this weekend I will force DH to buy the crib!

Shelley-That is too funny about MIL, but it was sweet of her to tell you she was concerned. My DH is also a computer tech and I am sure he is thinking about doing the same, he has a camera watching the furnace in case something goes wrong, so I am sure he will be twice as paranoid about the baby.

Shelleie-I would not worry to much about the weight gain if the babies are measuring on target. What did your doctor say? Just do the best you can and I am sure your little ones will be fine.

We have a two story house and the master bedroom is too small to have the crib in it, so we will be using a bassinet, I thought I liked the idea of the pack and plays with the bassinet feature but when I looked at them in the store they made me kind of nervous, maybe it was the ones I looked at but they did not seem very sturdy...but my friend used one in the beginning with her daughter so I will just have to see.

Sarah thats hysterical...I'm going to tell my DH this and guilt him into setting up a monitor system in our house. At least you know if your furnace ever blows up you'll get a good view of it!

Fossie, I wouldn't worry about the weight gain too much either. They tend to exaggerate how much we should all gain these days anyway, I'm sure your little ones will be just fine.

I think the pack and play should be fairly sturdy, the Baby Bargains book is very very obsessive about safety etc and wouldn't even mention it if it wobbled. I guess its just we're so used to seeing the big wooden cribs they look a bit flimsy next to them, however I'm certain they would be fine. But for me its all just another thing to buy on top of an already enormous list. Why do human beings that only weigh about 7 pounds need so much stuff?!! And why is their stuff so much more expensive than ours? Ours is bigger for crying out loud!!

The doctor wasn't concerned - he just said to eat, eat, eat and so that's what I'm going to do. At least food finally sounds good again so I'm game!

Alana - I agree, WHY is it so expensive and why do they need sooooo much? I can't even get into looking at cutesy clothing type stuff because we are spending so much on cribs and car seats and everything else that they might just have to be naked for the first year!!! That really sucks that showers aren't a big thing for you because I am really looking forward to my two as being a big, big help! My dh just doesn't understand either - when I tell him yet another thing we need he is always asking me well, how do poor people do it and accuses me of thinking we need things we don't but there are just some baby items that are non-negotiable simply for the fact that they will make life more manageable. He will be appreciative when the time comes, I'm sure for things like infant carriers instead of a stationary carseat and the pack and play for downstairs!

I am just starting my online registry at Target and it it makes me pick either boy or girl - no room for two!!!

Fossie--I wish my doctor told me to eat, eat, eat. that would be my dream come true...haha. I have only gained 1 pound, and my OB is not concerned at all. Granted I am a little chubby, but with my first I lost 30 pounds and my old OB never was concerned either. Alana you are right, everyone is different and I don't think there is a set number for everyone.

I haven't bought any new clothes yet. I am going to go through all of my boy clothes and get out the 0-6 months and wash them. I plan on doing this before I get so big and uncomfortable, but I haven't had the ambition yet!

Shellie-yeah well my DH thinks that everything we need for the baby will cost $20...he is in for a rude awakening! And I was talking with some of the older ladies I know and doctors told them 15-20 pounds...you will be fine. And maybe you could go to the store to register for the other ones.

Yeah Alana, I think it's pretty odd that he wants to watch the furnace that much. But I guess I knew he wasn't normal when I married him.

When are you ladies taking your lamaze classes? We need to sign up for ours soon but I dont want to do it too early or too late.

Sarah, that is funny that your DH watches the furnace so closely. It made me laugh and then my DH asked what I was laughing at and then he began to laugh. No offense, it just hit us as kind of funny...like, heck, yeah, why not watch the furnace!! LOL

I know what you girls mean about baby stuff costing a lot of money. DH has been pretty cool about it though. I am pretty frugal and shop around for the best prices and sales so I think that makes him feel comfortable. The bedding for 3 cribs was a huge splurge!! One set cost more than what we have on our KING size bed!! Many people said it was a waste of money and for awhile I thought about not buying the sets but DH was the one that thought they were so cute we should get them. He said because I am finally getting the babies I always wanted, I should have fun with it. I guess that is one good thing about being old

Shelley-no offense taken! I think it is the oddest thing, but if it makes him feel better I just let him do it. Most people use a camera to watch their front door or something like that, my hubby watches the furnace. I asked him one time if something was wrong with it how would he get home before something happened since he works 45 minutes from home he just got really mad and wouldnt answer me.

Another questions, do you girls think it's ok to get xrays of my mouth? I just saw an orthodontist today and he wants to take some before he decides what to do...I am going to call my OB tomorrow but wanted to ask you all.

I had my biweekly doctors appointment today. The babies are doing good and it is really getting crowded in there!! The boys were in a very funny position. You can see that they are definitely boys!! We had a giggle at the poor little babies!

I got my b/w results from my glucose test and my sugar is a bit high. Errrrr. I feared that. The doctor said that it does not mean that I have GD. A number over 40 is considered high and mine was 49. I have got to get the darn test done again next week. This time I will have to wait 3 hours after drinking the sugar drink and get more blood drawn. The other test I only had to wait an hour.

Here are the two boys with their legs spread They look like trouble makers already! LOL

Love the picture Shelley, they definately look like trouble already, my guess is you will have your hands full with those two little guys. I'm sorry also to hear your sugar is up slightly. Hopefully you can maybe resolve it with diet etc? You will have to keep us posted. Its so exciting what you are going through right now though with your three little ones...on Mothers Day they played the 'in the womb' documentaries and I got to see the 'twins, triplets and more' one. Its fascinating what your three are getting up to in there. They like to grab each other, kiss each other (how cute is that) and kick and punch each other. I had no idea they were so interactive. You must feel like a human kick-boxing bag somedays! lol

Sarah, I don't think I'll be doing lamaze classes etc. DH and I are scheduled in for some newborn classes in July, but I don't think I'll bother with any birthing classes only because I'm planning on choosing the drugs option and won't have much control over anything anyway. I guess for me personally I just wantt the whole thing over and done with as fast as possible as I'm pretty squeamish about these things. Which...now that I've said that...just watch me suffer through 48 hours of hellish labour!!

Is anyone else feeling in a strange state of limbo? Like we are half-way there but it may as well be forever away? I know we are all supposed to cherish being pregnant etc, but after IF I just want the baby much more than I want to be pregnant. Is that terrible? I just feel so impatient I can't help it. I still expect something to go wrong everyday...so if I could fast-forward to September I would. I guess I wish I could just enjoy this time like other women do but I'm really struggling to. Is anyone else feeling the same way?
