Christine- I was thinking the same thing! I hope and pray they are ok and she is just busy and doesnt have time to post.

Shelley-I went out and bought a stool from WalMart that is about the height of a bar stool for my class and I brought it home and have been using it while I make dinner because my feet hurt so bad after work that the last thing I want to do is stand for half an hour and make dinner, and DH cannot cook to save his life! Maybe you could use one too.

My thoughts and prayers are with Jill. I hope everything is ok.

Sarah, the stool sounds like a good idea. I'll probably being using the table a lot to do some simple prep work. A few minutes ago I was reclining on the couch, with a tray on my lap and peeling the shell off hard boiled eggs. My DH snuck up and took a mini movie and pictures of me. LOL Not flattering but kind of funny, especially since it is so out of character for me.

Hi ladies!
I'm a total "space cadet"! I did have my growth scan on May 9th. I'm so sorry I haven't had a chance to post. The brain doesn't work so good these days & my DH says the baby is sucking out all my brain cells for herself!

The scan went very well. She was turned face down which was good so they can get a close look @ her spine. And every time the tech pushed a little harder to get a closer look the baby would kick her! My only concern was the she feels so low & walking up & down the stairs makes me feel like she's going to come out! My OB this week did a quick internal exam just to be sure everything was ok. It is & he said to got out & get one of those maternity belts which should help tremendously. He said 2nd baby a lot of times will feel like this since the body knows what to do & starts to work immediately & my uterus has stretched faster than the baby has grown (btw she's 1 pound 6 ounces!) & feels much bigger than I actually am. I only gained 4 pounds which I still can't believe. I had gained 7 lbs but lost 3 somehow. I think it's because I'm constantly running around with my 5 year old & never really sit still. And since we finished our basement last year that's all I do is run up & down the stairs doing laundry, on the computer, & playing with DD. But I'm sure the weight gain will pick up. Although I do look big - my belly seems to pop out every couple of days.

Every time I think about getting on the computer to chat with you ladies I get distracted. I feel like a 5 year old with an attention span of about 5 seconds!

And for some reason lately I'm much more interested in sex. I'm more hormonal than before and the bigger my belly gets the more weirded out my DH gets about sex. He's afraid of hurting the baby. I didn't have these urges as much when I was preggo with DD.

It's my b-day weekend & we have so much planned with the in-laws today, tomorrow my DH is taking me to a really fancy brunch & Monday - the actual day we'll have a nice dinner with DD & a special made chocolate mousse cake (I had to make a special request!) I'm feeling my age which I never do on b-days. My DD asked me how old I am & when I told her she said Wowwwwww & I'm only 5. I can't even have a drink to that!

Hope everyone is doing well. Any new births on the board while I've been MIA?

BTW, I had a new doc review my u/s & she said yes it looks like a girl but it's never 100%. I thought I would cry. We haven't bought any furniture yet but I'm kind of freaked out now! Anyone's doc ever tell you this? And has a doc been wrong with you or anyone you know?

Thanks Christine for the PM!

Jill

Jill-what a relief to hear from you! Glad to hear the baby is doing so well, hard to believe our babies are around a pound huh? My friend was told on her first gender scan it was 80% chance of a girl, then she went to a different doctor and the confirmed she was a girl. However, a mom of a student just had a baby and was told it was def. a girl and much to their suprise she turned out to be a he! So I guess there are no guarantees but if two seperate doctors said girl I would think it's a safe bet. And I am the same way with the sex thing, however I am the one paranoid about what it might do to the baby, so who knows, how lovely it is to be a hormonal pregnant lady!!! Hope you have a happy birthday!!!

Well I am off tomorrow to register and am trying to put together a list so if anyone has any suggestions please share them. I am a little lost and DH and I went last week and looked around to get an idea but I feel like I will either be too afraid to scan in items or go crazy. Our plan is to register for whatever we see at each store and then when we get home delete duplicate items, because I will go crazy if I try and register for the car seat at one store and then find one I like better at another. I am just so super excited, it makes it more real I guess!!! And he is being pretty active yesterday and today, but oddly enough it is lighter than before but more often...I think he likes teasing me!

Jill, it is great to hear from you and I am so happy that you and the baby are doing great!! Your baby is getting very large!! It sounds like you are really busy. Before you know it you will be meeting your little girl. I am sure it is a girl. We were told they were not 100% sure ours was a girl but when we went for the 3D scan we got a clear picture of her genitals and there is definitely no penis. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Sounds like you will be having a very fun weekend!!

Sarah, have fun registering!! I have been keeping track of some of the recommendations from other Mothers. Here are a few:
Boppy
Swaddle blanket, such as the miracle blanket
Boucer seat
Swing
Pack n Play
Play Gym
Bumbo seat
You can also register for diapers, wipes, baby bottles and batteries! Not too exciting but you will appreciate them!

I was told not to bother registering for clothing or receiving blankets because you will get a lot of those anyways. Some people like the wipe warmer and others don't because they can become dried out and you have to keep filling it with water. My SIL swears by it so I am not sure if I will get one of not. She'll probably buy me one. LOL Some people also love the diaper genie and others put the diapers directly in their outside garbage, because even though the genie gets good ratings it is not 100% odor free and you have to buy bags for it! I was given one, so I will try it. The baby Trend Diaper champ is simular to the Genie but you can use any plastic bag in it. Have fun!!

Hope everyone is having a great weekend

I loved having a wipes warmer when my daughter was a baby. As a matter of fact my DH & I were out early today & we drove past Buy Buy Baby & I mentioned to him that we need to start writing down what we need for this baby's arrival & the 1st thing I mentioned was a new wipes warmer. They come with this moist pad that sits on the bottom (at least they used to) & it keeps the pile of wipes moist. Sometimes the bottom 2 or 3 got dried out. Having this made a difference with a winter baby. She would cry with cold wipes out of the package.

I didn't register for clothes either & got tons of undershirts, onesies, sleepers & receiving blankets @ my shower. Also, swaddling the baby just snug enough will make a huge difference with sleeping. They do have a new swaddle blanket that I have to get - it keeps their arms in & the baby feels secure.

I also registered for the video monitor & used it for about a year or so - but I did love it.

Definitely register for baby bottles & a bottle warmer if you choose. I didn't even bother with the sterilizer as I boiled and/or stuff everything in the dishwasher. And have some newborn pacifiers on hand.

Shelley - good call on registering for diapers & wipes! Especially when you'll need diapers/wipes for 3 babies. Go for the cases - newborn, stage 1 & stage 2. I'm sure they have cases of preemie diapers too. I can't wait to see pics of those babies!

I think I threw my diaper genie away after the 1st week. Hated it! I used to buy packs & packs of those blue diaper sacks, kept them near the changing table & just threw the wrapped up diaper in the trash. Better yet, register for them, they're cheap & easy! A friend of mine used that Diaper Dekor & loved it.

Also...
Infant nail clippers
little nail files
baby wash & lotion
jar of Aquaphor
jar of Vaseline
baby washcloths
infant bath tub
hooded towels
baby bjorn
mylicon drops
infant tylenol - good to have on hand for when they're old enough

Get a waterproof changing pad - at least 2.

There's so much more & things I didn't even think of with my 1st. If anything else comes to mind I'll let you know.

Have fun registering ladies!

Ok so we registered! And was it more than I expected...DH was pretty trigger happy so I have to go back and see what he registered for that we weren't going to, and we had a really hard time agreeing on a car seat and stroller, I want the travel system and he wanted to register for seperate pieces. He is afraid someone won't buy it for us because it is expensive. I told him with how long our friends and families have waited I am sure someone will buy it or a few people can go in on it together. But I am super tired and just want to relax but we need to go to my parents for dinner, blah! Oh has anyone bought the outfit to bring home baby yet? We bought two but I don't know...I figure I can keep looking and get another one, after all the baby will need more than one outfit the first few weeks right?! We just won't tell DH. Thanks Jill for the ideas...i will have to go back and check to make sure I have those on my registery, and I did register for a wipes warmer, I think it's only fair for the baby!

Fossie, thanks for the photo of pack and play, that is exactly what I was thinking of, but couldn't remember.

I too was worried about not gaining weight, but then all of a sudden it just went ON and had gained 8 pounds in a few weeks. As long as you're eating, I really do think it will come. I just read online that one goal is to have gained 24 pounds by week 24--of course this is for twins. Just want to encourage you to not worry too much, I know that's hard. My experience has been that my body sort of tells me what I need at that time and it fluctuates. Like today: cantaloupe and get this: red cabbage cole slaw salad. I hope to go shopping tonight and try to make that that for the first time. We'll see how that goes!

Alana,

I know what you mean about worrying about the baby and not fully enjoying pregnancy. I really do feel it is different for a woman who has had difficulty conceiving, IF treatment, etc. I think I am enjoying it to a degree, but with twins and the higher risk, I do find myself worrying and holding back from believing this will really work out with two healthy babies at the end of it all. For me I see it as my last and only chance after the treatment. I spoke to another pregnant woman a few weeks ago and she mentioned being worried until she passed week 24, apparently a key week in baby development, which I did not know, so really once we make it past one hurdle there's another. I will be immeasureably relieved to have these healthy babies....sure I'll be in shock but then it can begin for us all. Hang in there, you're not alone!!

Jill, I liked your list and got some more ideas off it. Thanks. I am thinking the wipes warmer is a good idea as long as it does not dry them out. I am sure there are different types of warmers.

When is a good time to begin washing clothing and bedding? I am thinking now would be ok for the clothing as long as it is kept in a drawer and dust free? What type of detergent should be used. People keep telling me to use Dreft but I could not find any that are HE compatible? Would any unscented detergent work? I would like to get as much done as I can soon because my activities are limited now. I am worried I will wear out my recliner before the babies are born

It sounds like everyone had great but busy weekends!

Jill glad everything is going well happy birthday!

Sarah- how fun I want to look your registry up now LOL.

I went into babies r us to check things out but didn't buy anything. I got some ideas though.

Shelley-I was told not to wash anything with tags on it, things you can return because a lot of the time the babies grow out of them before you can use them, then again you have three so I am sure every stitch of clothing will be used. I would use a non-scented sensitive skin type detergent and wash away, as long as they are somewhere clean and safe I would do as much now as you can.

Amy-look if you want, I think its cool to look at other registries too, we are SArah & Joe Roth, in NY. I went ahead and added some things last night and didn't tell DH about it until I had done it. I would have bought the whole store if DH wasn't with me! What I like about Babies R Us is that they have a great selection and their prices are really not that bad.
