Shelley, I used Dreft, but they must have a "free" detergent you can use for the babies clothes. I washed all the undershirts, burp cloths, receiving blankets, baby blankets, crib sheets - anything the baby would be in contact with immediately. The outfits with tags I kept in the closet & would wash a few @ a time - my DD was a big baby & grew out of her clothes fast so I was able to exchange for larger sizes.

Justine, I have had many cravings for cole slaw! Not sure what it is about it but @ one point I couldn't get enough!

I like Babies-R-Us too & they do seem to have the best prices. But I also like Buy Buy Baby - if I need something very specific in a name brand they seem to carry it. But we do buy our cases of wipes @ Costco - Kirkland brand - they are just as good as the name brand wipes & cheaper.

Did everyone get furniture for the nursery yet? I haven't done anything! Not even clean out the spare room to get the nursery ready for furniture! I'm still looking for a good package deal. Any suggestions?

Jill

I am looking at furniture but get overwhelmed at all that we need and the prices. I am thinking we may get our stuff from Target - they seem to have the best prices for stuff that looks pretty sturdy. I really want a convertible crib and they get very pricey at places other than discount stores.

Shellie--sorry to hear of your doctor's orders but just do what they say and I'm sure it will all work out well. You've already done so great with your nutrition etc.

Well, after seeing Alana's nursery pics I was motivated last week. I'm overwhelmed by it all too so thought I'd at least check out and hopefully buy the cribs and then order the mattresses online as I know what I want for both of those items. That would be a great start!

Boy, were we surprised to find out not only did IKEA not have floor models of the cribs, they are completely sold out on Northeast and don't know when they are getting more of any of the styles: could be August!! We checked online: none available and none at stores in NJ, which though far, are the closest from us in Mass. So, that is a wrench in the works and has made a dent in my can-do attitude to start buying. I know they're great cribs but this is ridiculous!

You know, I've been thinking about the anxiety around the babies especially after IF treatment and discovered I'm almost afraid to tell people just in case it doesn't work out. Also, it almost doesn't feel real, or maybe valid, as I didn't conceive naturally. Sort of feel I'm on borrowed time. It's complicated, but there's some baggage there. I'm sure once they are born and healthy I'll get past all of that.

So

DH was motivated this weekend and I cleaned out what I could out of the baby's room and he moved all the furniture by himself and tore up the carpet and wouldn't ya know, the floor is in great shape, fantastic hardwood that just needs to be refinished. But we can't put anything in there until he does that and paints, so I may be looking at June before we can get furniture in there. I did buy the bedding set yesterday and picked up paint samples to pick one from. I agree FOssie, the furniture scares me, we are buying the crib pretty soon, we have to in order to get it in on time, and we are reusing an old dresser as the changing table, then we just need to get one more dresser for the clothes, but DH does not like the cheap way many of the new ones are made so we are going to look for an older dresser and just refinish it. I would rather just buy a new one and replace it when it breaks but DH is very adament about the quality.

I wish we had a Buy Buy Baby around here, but I have to say Burlington Coat Factory has some great prices, the crib we liked was around 170 there and while looking online at Target it was 230+, and more in other places. So I think we are going to go with that one, I just want to get it ordered or get one soon if they have it in stock because I don't want to be stuck in AUgust without a crib!

The baby is very active lately, did you ladies see a pick up in activity around this time. I swear he is in there poking his little finger at me saying Hi!

Yes, my little girl is very active! And she doesn't like me to lean forward - then the jabs start really low. I had to get a maternity belt this weekend - per my OB's orders. It's awkward but at least it helps a bit & also really supports my lower back. I've gotten really "top-heavy" with this pregnancy & my back really aches a lot.

I keep forgetting about Burlington Coat Factory! Thanks Sarah! I have to get there to check out the furniture & bedding.

Also good to know, I saw that Buy Buy Baby's website has an entire section on BPA free items if anyone is interested.

Burlington Coat Factory has worked out for us. We purchased all 3 cribs, bedding and some some cute baby outfits there. They have a multiples discount which saved us some more money

I forgot to tell you all a cute story about this weekend. I went to my parents house and my neice was there and she was sitting in the chair with my dad, eating chips (her favorite thing in the whole world), and she whispers in his ear that my tummy is big...how cute is she. Later when I told her to tell her dad what she had said she whispered it in his ear...she is just too funny, but I guess when a 4 year old is saying your tummy is big it must be huh?

Justine - I find that I am still afraid to tell people we are having twins because I just don't believe that it can happen and after hearing everyone comment on how "perfect" it is too be having one of each I just feel like it is a big jinx. I guess it never goes away - I realize my heightened insecurity when talking to my co-workers wife who is pregnant with her 8th and had a set of twins and she is just so laid-back and nonchalant because she has no reason whatsoever to think that everything will not work out perfect - I sometimes wish I could be that way. Most of my friends had problem-free conceptions and pregnancies and they are so naive but so, so happy and excited and I am a bit envious of their ability to be that way.

Shellie, I feel the same way you do. I did not want to tell anyone we were having triplets until I was at least in my 2nd trimester but DH was so excited, I let him tell people. I just could not take that away from him. It is still sinking in that I am having 3 babies. It hit me today because yesterday we set up the 3 cribs in the nursery now that the walls have been painted. When I went in to look at them, it was like an out of body experience. My pregnancy has been going great but somewhere in a dark part of my mind I have a hard time believing that it all might work out ok.

My best friend has had infertility issues but she lives 2000 miles away from me. Everyone else that I know has had easy times getting pregnant and easy pregnancies. They totally do not understand why I might be worried about being able to carry 3 babies to a healthy delivery or worrying about them being extremely premature. My MIL actually discounted my worries by telling me that everyone worries but I think too much and DH and I are more vocal about it than other expecting parents. She is right that everyone worries. I try to keep things to myself and DH now. No sense making the innocent, happy go lucky people paranoid

Sarah, your story about your neice is so cute. Kids really do say the darnest things. I bet your tummy is really cute.

I am getting really big and the tummy is getting heavy. It truly is taking over my entire front, along with my boobs. This picture was taken yesterday at 23w5d. I look short and stubby in it but I am actually 5'7" LOL. I am in the nursery that is still a work in progress. The walls are painted. The cribs are in. The next step is to put the bedding in and finish the closet!

Shellie-I know exactly how you feel, I have even had people tell me not to worry about it, that the baby will be fine and I am just being paranoid. I know I am being paranoid but they don't need to say it, and with all the hormones I have been telling them just that! And WOW 8 babies?? I can't imagine, lol.

Shelley-look how cute your belly is! ANd you don't look short and stubby...for having triplets you look pretty darn good! Actually if you took away your belly you wouldn't know you were pregnant. ANd go you for being so far ahead of some of us on the nursery! How exciting, and I looove your cribs, that is the one I really wanted but DH wanted the white one...so we shall see who wins when we go to buy it...I could always just pull out the crying card, it works wonders with him! And congrats on your 24 week mark!! It is a big milestone isnt it?

Shelley - I think you look great, I know you feel like you are going to be huge. I already feel like I can't get much bigger and I know that is very, very false!

I think part of my constant worrying is because of these stupid multiples books that all spend a lot of time talking about the potential complications and things that can continue to be a threat even further in to pregnancy. Now that I am getting to register and do the nursery and call the babies by name I am consumed by that and not as freaked! I still want to feel them move ALL the time just for reassurance but the doppler has helped big time with that.

I have a silly question - I am dying to get some sun, go swimming, do summer/Memorial Day type stuff - will the doctor look down on me if I have a tan big ole belly? Is that frowned upon if I am careful not to burn?

Hi Ladies-I have been so busy lately that I haven't had a chance to write to anyone. I read everyone's comments every day though!

Shelly-you look wonderful! I took a pic, will have to post later. My son took my SD card for my camera and I haven't been able to find it...it is so small, I may never find it!

I had a follow-up ultrasound this morning to check on Garrison's heart. I am still waiting to hear back from the doctor. He looked SO cute and different just in two weeks! He kept putting his thumb up to his mouth and was trying to put it in, but he never quite made it! The tech was nice to let me watch him for like 10 minutes! Hope everyone is having a good week!
