fossie def. give your dr. a call. I have not had any yet but that is what I experience with my other three children. Lots of water like Shelly said when I got the flu and was dehydrated with Jacob they had to give me meds and keep me in the hospital over night it is just better to let them know they may want to see you in the morning. My dr. checked on me because of pains in my pelvis area this time it was just more round ligament but it is so better to be safe then sorry.

Jill, sorry about the 1st glucose results. I have heard that some people often pass the 2nd test, so there is still hope that you will not have to go through it. I am looking forward to seeing the nutritionist tomorrow because this weekend I have been feeling down in the dumps. I think I might have gone from high blood sugar to low sugar because I feel like crap, really tired and achy, and hungry.

I did not notice any symptoms of high blood sugar, except compared to now, I had more energy and I felt happy. Now I am tired and cranky. I know this is only temporary and in my mind I have accepted it but my body I think is going through sugar withdrawals.

I miss my fruit the most. Hopefully once I begin to monitor my glucose I will find I can eat more fruit than I thought....hopefully.

Christie - the 3/4 D u/s is amazing!!! let us know when you plan on having one! i can hardly wait to see your little girl!

Jill - we do miss you around here, but definatly understand - just keep us posted on your progress.
and so sorry to hear about the GD....it isnt as bad as you think - you could pass the 3 hour.

Fossie - definately call your OB and see if they can check you out. i remember oh too well what contractions felt like for me and my labor and delivery was quite quick! our biggest concern now with this one is that i might not make the 45 min drive to the hospital.

Fossie-I too have been having some weird sensation in the uterus area...not sure if they are contractions so to speak but it feels like really bad pressure, almost like he is stretching out and my uterus is being stretched...I have been doing a lot of sitting the last two days and wonder if it is because of this. I see my doctor on Tuesday but now I am wondering if I should call him tomorrow. What are yours feeling like?

Jill-oh I hope you pass the 3 hour test! I too have heard many people fail the one hour and pass the three hour, so I will cross my fingers for you!

Shelley- sorry to hear the news on the GD. You've done so well so far working with a nutritionist, I know you can get through this time! Measuring at 42 weeks...I know twins arrive a few weeks early....any idea of when you might? Hang in there and keep up the good work....it's all going to pay off for you, I'm sure.

I feel the babies more on some days than others, so don't worry about that, I know it's hard to not worry. I was at Ikea last week and was stoked to hear the cribs were in stock (after they told me it might be a few months.) So, we went in and picked up two and hopefully my DH will put one together next weekend, but at least we have them!! I was looking at their crib sheets--100% cotton, very reasonably priced. Baby Bargains really stressed getting good quality fitted crib sheets due to proper fit, minimal shrinkage, and ability to withstand many washings. I was thinking of trying theirs, but not sure after looking at the book.

I told some people at work I was pregnant and have found lots ask about gender, etc. As it's twins for me, and wanting to keep something to myself, I've come to the conclusion to tell them it's a surprise and leave it at that. It's not a lie as it will be a surprise to them when they do find out that it's twins and the genders. Are you all choosing to divulge details to folks?

Justine, I think it is ok for you to keep information of your pregnancy a surprise. We chose to tell everyone we are having triplets and their genders. I don't feel comfortable telling strangers about it. DH would scream all the details from the roof top if he could. he is more out going about it all.

My doctor wants me to make it to 35 or 36 weeks. I am hoping for 36. The average gestation for triplets is 33.1 weeks . (7 more weeks ) Originally my due date was Sept 9, which is why I joined this forum before I knew I was having triplets. So the reality is that I don't have to deal with GD for very long.

shelley, kinda in a way having GD might be beneficial....it will put more weight on the babies. they say that ladies with GD or Diabetes have larger babies
And i know there are risks involved, but today is one of those days where I just want to find something postive out of everything.

Sarah - mine feel almost like a movement but with it my lower abdomen gets pretty tight and then releases shortly thereafter. I was told that they are Braxton Hicks and are very common. They said that some women feel them, some don't and some have more than others. I was told that as long as they stay erratic and inconsistent then nobody is worried and they will check my cervix again on Friday when I go it just to make sure but that Braxton Hicks contractions do not dilate you at all and that is the best way to know that is what they are.

They are worrisome but I keep hearing time and again that they are normal and my cervix was long and closed two weeks ago so they don't seem too worried about that either - I so hope everything is ok - I am just hoping and praying that we make it to viability and then each week will be a blessing.

Fossie-I know what you mean by the viability thing...I am just waiting for the end of week 24, and then week 36...trying not to worry about that kind of thing but it is always in the back of my mind! I did call my nurse but they had me leave a message for her, glad I am not that worried about it cause I would have thought they would have put me right through. Oh well.

Shelley-I heard the same thing about babies with mommas with GD, they are bigger, both people that I know who had it had BIG babies!!! Hope your appt. goes well today!

Justine-I like the idea of keeping it a secret. I can't be that good though, I am the worst secret keeper! But how cool will it be to be able to suprise them, and Christine is right you still do have one more suprise!

Hi ladies,

Thanks for the tips. I have found strangers' interest in my pregnancy surprising...I guess I never really thought about how it would be. If I'm working with a pregnant woman, I've generally tried not to pry, but do ask how she's feeling, tell her she is looking great, etc. It's a new and sometimes jarring experience to have something we've wanted and been working toward for so long suddenly become public knowledge, as you cannot hide a large pregnancy! It's a shift for me to feel so vulnerable and just plain out there in public. And people do stare at times too, which again, is natural, but does make me feel a bit uncomfortable when it's a man. They likely don't have a clue how it makes a woman feel, I'd bet.

Shelley, I may have these babies in August too. My goal is to make it through Labor day without going into labor; I'll be 36 weeks in the last week of August, but according to the dates of ET my EDD is formally Sept 28th. We shall see, I'm also looking forward to making it past week 24!

Well ladies I go tomorrow for my next appt! I can't believe how fast the last 4 weeks have gone, I think it is because before this I was waiting for the gender scan. But hopefully I move to three week waits because the next appt is when we get to do the 3D u/s! I am super excited for that, plus it will be the end of the school year and I can sit back and relax and get ready for this baby!

Justine-I know how you feel about the stares! Plus I wonder if people realize what they sound like when they say, "wow you really look pregnant, your belly is HUGE!" My boss said that today and I know she didn't mean anything by it but to let me know it is obvious how pregnant I am, because sometimes I don't think I look preggo but it is still a little rough on the ego, ya know?! Well off to eat a bowl of veggies...I am having a hard time eating enough lately, just don't feel like eating, even when I am hungry, anyone else feeling that way?

I was borderline GD with my daughter & she was 9 lbs even & 22 1/2 inches long! Blood sugar wasn't high enough to warrant a nutrition consult and/or meds. But this time was 146. My OB said it should be @ or below 130. But when I picked up my script today they said it could have been the glucose drink that elevated my blood sugar level & that the 3-hour test may come back fine. However, I have to pass 2 out of 3 blood tests. I'm bringing my portable DVD player & my ipod! I'm very restless to begin with & this waiting around for 3 hours will drive me nuts!

I felt my 1st Braxton Hicks contractions on Friday while gardening. I never felt them with my 1st. Everything is so different this time around. It kind of freaked me out @ 1st. But I kept talking to the baby saying please hold on for at least 10 more weeks! I had another one today.

Oh! My SIL is giving me her daughters crib! She's very meticulous so I know I'll be getting it in perfect condition. We just have to buy a new mattress. I was shocked & pleasantly surprised. She's usually not very giving when it comes to us. But I think someone wants to be in our good graces since we haven't decided on the babies Godparents yet. I hate that, why can't she be nice to us all the time. They literally live 3 minutes away & we hardly hear from them or see them. I always do the asking & we either don't get a response or flat out turned down. And anything we need to know is relayed to my MIL then to us. UGGGHHH!! Thanks for letting me get off track & vent for a moment!

Anyway, hope everyone has a great week! It's nice & warm in NY this week - finally! We're heading to the Jersey Shore this weekend & will be close to 90 on Sunday! I plan to be @ the pool all weekend!

Enjoy!

Jill

Hi everyone!

I had GD with my first and he was only 5lbs 15 0z. Granted he was a little early, but all of the ultrasounds kept saying he was already 7 or 8 pounds. They were wrong!

We had a salad for dinner and I am starving now! I might cave and have a bowl of Fruit Loops...I know, I know, it's bad for me.

Hope everyone had a great weekend! My little guy has a 101 fever so we are just hanging out around the house!
