I had my gestational diabetes test and it wasn't too bad. Maybe the drink was more bearable for me because I like Fanta and sugary orange drinks :-) but they just had me chug it , wait for an hour and draw my blood. No bad side effects, not really icky, not too bad all in all! I wasn't told to fast and I was told to not eat a real sugary breakfast (I guess like my usual poptarts and oatmeal creme pies) and that was it.

Shellie - I'm glad your glucose test went well! Are you able to get your results soon? I think I was able to get mine online by the next day.
Now that my brain is semi-working, I remember that I was able to eat a sugar-free breakfast (eggs, meat, etc.) before my 1 hour glucose test. But for the 3 hour I had to eat a snack at midnight and then only have water up until my test. After I drank the sugar drink I couldn't have anything to eat or drink until after my 3rd blood draw. You better believe I drove straight to Taco Bell when I was done! I really, really hope we all pass our glucose test with flying colors! Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!

Mmm Taco Bell sounds delish! They didn't tell me anything about results - I assume they will call with them next week - they aren't very forthcoming about that!!! I have never gotten results from any bloodwork I have done there but I assume all is ok.

Shellie, I am glad that you are feeling better!
Ara, Those onesies are just adorable! I don't think I can be as creative as you are. Geez! Wish you would live closer to me. BTW, I just got almost all of the items to get the diaper cake for my SIL going but I forgot the darn clear rubber bands. So I may have to go out later or tomorrow. I am a little confused about my glucose test. My OB told me to go for the test 2-3 days before my next appointment July 9th, and he said that the day of my test, I should have my regular breakfast, wait 2 hours, go to the lab and once at the lab they will make me drink something and wait for an hour before the draw blood. From what some of you mentioned, you were told to take nothing sugary, hmmm, I may have to call the dr's office and clarify what my "regular breakfast" should be. Oh, I ordered my Flip Ultra digital video camera through Amazon ($114) and I absolutely like it! Very easy to use and the instructions manual is just so simple to understand. Best purchase ever and it was cheaper than most of the stores had it advertised. Happy Saturday! It is very humid over here.

Amy - those are absolutely adorable. I had big plans to go to Michael's today and buy letters for their names and paint them but after going to buy a nursing bra (needed a bigger one decided to just get one that did double duty) and then looking for cute twin thank you cards at Swoozies I was too wiped out. You are inspiring me to definitely make it a project for tomorrow.
Netty - I think they are saying "regular breakfast" to get an accurate idea of what you are ingesting and how your body handles it - I stayed away from sugar because I want to pass it but sounds like you will get the most accurate results if you just eat normally. BZOE - glad to hear the contractions are subsiding. I think we all are in a weird time - we were definitely waiting to get to this "viability" stage but we certainly don't want them coming anytime soon. Yesterday my doc said that I should count on more like 32-33 weeks and that sounds way, way too early to me! I want to keep them in as long as possible but I am grateful for every day from here on out!

Shellie,
Thanks! I may just have oatmeal and two boiled eggs the day that I go for the glucose test. I hope to pass with flying colors. I woke up today totally inspired by the lovely onesies Amy worked on for her little girl and I googled Hobby Lobby to find a location near me and there is none. Are Michael's and JoAnn Fabrics in the same category as Hobby Lobby?

Netty, Michael's and JoAnn Fabrics are similar to Hobby Lobby. I would try Michaels first, they have more crafty stuff, JoAnn has more sewing stuff. Have fun creating!
Amy, the onesies are very cute! Girls, I have been having the worst lower back pain. To the point that I even called my Doctor about it this week. My concern is that the pain comes and goes, only lasting for about 10 seconds, but it is the most intense pain. I hardly slept last night, it woke me up so often. The nurse told me that I can take Tylenol and use a heating pad, and I haven't tried either yet. I don't know if I should call my Doctor back tomorrow about it. (TMI ahead) The other thing that worries me is that I have been having an increased amount of discharge. I have read Amy's thread concerning this, and also some other info that says this is normal at this point, but it is worrisome. Is anyone else having this issue? Regarding the glucose test, my nurse told me to eat eggs and toast that morning, no cereal. Of course I eat cereal everyday, not the super-sugar coated kind, but I think even special-k and cheerios have sugar in them. So I am a little confused to, shouldn't I eat what I normally eat for breakfast to get an accurate result? Or is the problem that I would be eating breakfast so close to test time that it would give an inaccurate result due to the sugar in the cereal?

Tabitha, Thanks!
I hope the lower back pain goes away. Can you describe it? Is it more like a dull pain, shooting, throbbing? I had very minimal back pain last week but it is gone now, only lasted for maybe, five minutes, it was more like a throbbing pain. So confusing about this glucose test. . . now that you mentioned sugar again, I remember that I like my oatmeal with lotsa sugar, so I will not have that. Instead, I will stick with the boiled eggs, toast with a tiny bit of butter (have to have my butter) and plain cold milk.

Tabitha - I don't recall when your last appointment was - do they do a urine screen at each appointment? A lot of the infections that could cause muscle pain or spasms can be identified through urinalysis so if you haven't had one recently make sure you get that done. They initially told me tylenol and heating pad too and if you don't think that is sufficient definitely go in and have them look at you. I would have suffered through the stones because of that advice if I didn't go it and they could actually see how miserable I was and that I couldn't even sit in the lobby because my back hurt so bad. Mine was constant though and not periodic which I think is what you are describing and I have read is normal during this time because of Braxton Hicks, stretching, etc. Like you all told me though - better safe than sorry so be sure to mention it!
About the glucose test, I just don't know - I had to remind my doc that I was even taking it so I don't think my experience is worthy of passing along as an example! Speaking of, have any of you been told by your doctors anything about delivery i.e., have you been instructed to get a hospital tour, when you will do pre check-in, upgrading to a private room, when to get a pediatrician, how to contact them in an emergency and what to do and where to go? I feel like I am a little lost and with so much drama going on haven't remembered to ask at my last appointments - I assume thatthose kind of questions will be coming up soon.
