Fossie, I am sorry. Very stressful...I am expecting a similar result. PCOS puts us at a much higher risk. I will be taking my test this week - probably tomorrow. I am sure you will get some diet education if you fail the three hour test. Remember that they do not consider you to have GD unless you fail the 3hr test...

Fossie - I am so sorry! But remember, almost 75% of women who fail the 1-hour test do past the 3-hour test. So I am hoping that you will pass the 3-hour with flying colors!!! :-)

At 14-weeks my 1-hour number was worse than yours and I passed the 3-hour test with really good numbers. (Now I hope I can pass it again) So I think you have excellent chances of being perfectly fine!

Thanks for the reassurance - it helps to know that I am not super, super high! I know that I can handle diet changes (and probably dh and I both need them since I am a carb fanatic - mashed potatoes, mmmmm) but they say to eat every two to three hours and I don't know what to snack on if it isn't sweet or starch or carbs - nutrition education will probably be good.

Laura is the three hour test miserable - I can't imagine drinking a whole lot more of that stuff in less time or sweeter stuff. I didn't mind the first drink at all so hopefully I can get this one down with little problem too.

Hopefully everyone does well!

Shellie - No, other than sitting around bored, the 3-hour test isn't bad at all. The drink is only a bit larger than the one you drink for the 1-hour test. And I had 5 or 10 minutes to drink it. They didn't have the same flavors and the one I had was like a super-sweet Mountain Dew (I had an orange flavor for my 1 hour).

I did feel a bit queazy during the first hour & a half or so. It was a similar feeling to being car sick. I just sat & people-watched in the Lab because I felt worse when I tried to read or look down. But there were 2 other ladies doing the test with me that day and neither of them felt as sick as I did. And once it was over and I was able to drink water & eat something, I was just fine. I know you'll do great!!

I have my OB appointment today and I think she is going to send me to redo my 3-hour test in the next few days. So I'll be right there with you!

fossie, sorry about your results, but hopefully you can do well on the 3 hr.

my glucose test is in another week or so...not looking forward to it!

may be tmi...but does anyone feel that they are gaining too much weight? i just want to stay within the healthy range, i am not concerned about the actual weight. i am 23 weeks and have already gained 18 lbs. does that seem to be too much to anyone? i can't help but compare myself to my girlfriend who is also 23 weeks. she hardly even looks pregnant!!

Shellie, sorry to hear that you are upset about your test results, hopefully the 3-hour test will be fine.

Amy, it sounds like your weight gain is normal. Since you started out on the slender side, I think it is okay. At my 24 week appointment I had gained 12 or 14 pounds (didn't really weight at the beginning), but I had gained so much weight from the two IVFs, I really need to keep it in check. It's hard though, I feel like I am hungry all the time!

So glad tomorrow is (sort of) Friday! Anyone have any plans for the 4th? DH and I are planning on going to the pool on Friday, it is getting pretty hot here. I just read in my one of my books that the baby can hear loud noises at this point, so I am wondering if the fireworks will scare him? Just one more thing to worry about...

Amy - I wouldn't worry, you look wonderful & I think your weight gain is well within the normal range. And, as we know, we are all so different in how our bodies react to pregnancy, I wouldn't spend too much time comparing yourself to your friend.

I had a dream last night that when I got to the doctors office today they told me I had gained 11 pounds since my last appointment. So I was SO nervous about going. But when I was weighed today they said I still haven't gained any weight while being pregnant. Now, I had gained more than enough during our IF journey, so I'm just going to say that I gained my "baby weight" before I got the baby. :-)

Thanks everyone for the comments on Bailee's name. I like it too

Shelly- I am sorry you have to do the 3 hr test. I have to go at the end of this month for my 1 hr and I so hope I pass because we have diabetes in our family and I soooo don't want to take the 3 hr test. I am not sure if family history with regular diabetes has any bearings on gest. diabetes or not?

Amy- You are in great shape, so all the weight you have gained appears to be all baby, fluid and uterus!!! I wouldn't worry, I am trying to stay under 180 so that my total overall weight gain beginning with IVF will only be 50 lbs. But, I am only 17 lbs from that goal and have three months to go, so I may have to raise my goal a little

Tabitha- Going to the pool sounds like heaven!! I love swimming and haven't had a chance to go yet this year. I hope you enjoy it!!!

No plans here for the 4th, just a couple of parties locally and painting the nursery. I am making myself get the painting done this weekend, then flooring then furniture. Maybe it will be ready by the time Bailee gets here!!

i hope you all have a wonderful and SAFE 4th of July!!!

Fossie- Sorry about your test! I just got my stuff to drink for my next visit in 3 weeks. My doc said the only way he'd think about sending me for a 3 hour is if my level was above 140. You said you were 141 right? That doesn't seem high at all! I bet you'll be fine!

Amy-everyone gains differently. This pregnancy I had only gained 3 lbs at 24 weeks. Then I went on a cruise for 5 days and at my next appt I had gained an extra 7lbs. Now I've gained approx 1lb a week since. I started off a fairly small person. My friend that is pregnant with me has already gained 21lbs.
Don't worry!!!

Chrisitie-Bailey Grace is a gorgeous name!!

Well, we are off to the lake tomorrow morning. (hoping it doesn't rain). Then I have a wedding Saturday night(who gets married over 4th of july weekend???)and our annual family(in-laws) camp trip Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. ANYONE WANT TO TRADE ME PLACES??? ANYONE??? Hopefully it won't be as bad as I think it probaby will be!

We are going to a 4th of July party tomorrow for a few hours and then the rest of the weekend is all about BABY! We are putting in base-boards, a ceiling fan and assmebling furniture. Our crib & changing table arrived yesterday. I can't wait to see what it looks like all put together!

Amy, I think you are in the perfect weight gain range and believe me from looking at your pictures it is ALL baby! I was worried that I haven't gained enough but now I am about on target at 25 pounds gained and 25 weeks - officially I have gained 20 lbs which I think is fine too but I really did lose at the beginning of pregnancy because of no cocktails and healthier eating so it is definitely 25. What scares me is the pound a week from here on out!!!

BZOE - sounds like a fun weekend! I have, for a while now, felt like I am in "baby jail." We have always been very active and when we aren't playing tennis or golf we are going on vacation or doing something fun with friends and since this pregnancy I have been on restriction and I am about to go stir crazy just sitting on the couch. When I try to do something active like gardening or shopping or preparing the room I definitely pay for it in soreness and swelling though so I'm just going to stop feeling guilty for being a slug and enjoy it while it lasts!

BZOE - what a full weekend!

Amy - Try not to worry about it too much. As the others have said, we all seem to have different patterns. I didn't gain at my first two appts and then between 16 and 22 weeks I gained 13 pounds and now have added another 3 more since then. Since I eat mostly healthy stuff, I"m not too worried about it.

Netty - I was thinking of doing my glucose on Sat too so I guess we'll be going through it together.

Have a great 4th everyone!
