Hi ladies,
I have recently decided to start a business doing favors and baskets for all sorts of occasions specifically baby showers. I like doing unique hand made favors as compared to those generic ones you see on most sites. I have created some really unique favors for a few baby showers, but I would like to know what are some of the themes you ladies are considering or did for your own showers. As for the baskets I make them custom for each client based on what is on the persons registry or a specific theme. I should have a website up soon. I will post it once it's ready. Any feedback on taste, theme, colors or ideas would are greatly appreciate

Natalie - I don't really have any suggestions, I've only given two baby showers and we didn't do any particular theme. Sound like a neat idea, can't wait to see your website.
Our dresser came in yesterday and I got it assembled and washed all the baby's clothes and put them away, and I am so sore and stiff this morning. DH didn't help me with this because A) we do not work well together when it comes to assembling furniture, and B) he was working on building his closet in the basement so he can move out of the closet in the nursery. That was the last piece of furniture for the nursery, other than getting a glider which I have not found one that I like yet. Laura & Claudia, we bought just a basic Seally mattress from Target. I bought it early so that I could take it out of the plastic and let it "off-gas" for a few months before the baby actually sleeps on it. I don't know if this is the best solution, but hopefully most of the chemical odors will dissipate. Hope you all are having a great weekend. I am trying to talk DH into going swimming today, it's very hot and humid here, and my feet and ankles are so swollen.

Tabitha - You need to post pictures of your furniture! Can't wait to see! I am so excited to finally be able to wash baby clothes & put them away.
As for the glider - have you looked at the Dutalier brand at Babies R Us? I found one there that is the most comfortable thing I have ever sat on! It is the Hoop Grande model. It was more than I wanted to spend, but I figured it will be worth it. Plus that brand comes with a great warranty. DH made some good progress on our nuresery yesterday! The crib & changing table were surprisingly easy to assemble & we both really like the look & feel of the furniture. Now my dresser just needs to arrive & I'll be all set. Preggo hormones did kick in at full force at one point yesterday. (Isn't that so fun when it happens?!) I became SO frustrated with where we should position the furniture. I had envisioned it one way in my mind...and that just isn't going to work. Bless his heart, DH tried to offer many suggestions. But I was in no mood to hear it. I think I'll just need to wait for the dresser to be here & then I'll figure it out. Hope everyone is having a great weekend! ![]()

Well, we finally got started on the nursery - by no means done, but we got the cribs put together, my dad brought the furniture he made, my grandmother brought the bedding and curtains that she made, and we got lots of awesome stuff at the shower so we are definitely making progress. Here are a couple of pics of the nursery in progress!

Shellie - your nursery is so cute, I love the colors!
Laura - I had the same issue with things not fitting the way I had envisioned it. The problem is that we are leaving a futon in the nursery, for guests after the baby is born (he will be in our room). And we thought we would leave it in there for a few months in case he is sick or fussy and one of us can sleep in his room. But it is taking up too much space, and I haven't told DH that I want to move it, since we have no where else to put it. Amy - glad to hear you are okay after your fall. I have gotten really clumsy in the last week or so. I have been tripping over and stepping on the pets, which they don't appreciate too much. So, I have been given two suggestions from friends who are moms. One suggested buying a lot of diapers/wipes so I will not have to go shopping for a while after the baby is born. Another suggested only getting a pack or two of different brands, in case the baby can't wear a particular brand, or too big for newborn diapers, etc. Any thoughts on this?

Shellie - So cute! I think you're glider is the one I was looking at getting at BRU
Amy - Good grief!!!! The hospital is becoming your second home ;-) Tabitha - sorry the weather is making you so uncomfortable. As far as the diaper question, I know that some diapers/wipes don't work for all babies. We are having a "diapers and dinner" theme for our co-ed baby shower so I'm expecting to get a variety of diapers and gift cards for food to help us out when Jaden first gets here. I am baised towards pampers after my neice, but I'm open to trying to some other brands.

Amy - I'm so glad everything is OK with you & Lily!! I, too, have definitely become more clumsy lately....no more high heels for me.
Shellie - Your nursery looks wonderful! I love the double windows in your room. I can't wait to see more pics. My DH & I just bought our crib mattress today, so I'm going to work on the room this afternoon. We still have SO much to do...but I'll take some pictures later this afternoon. Tabitha - I have been buying diapers & wipes. I actually just went & bought some more today at BRU because I had a good coupon. I have a combination of Pampers & Huggies. I have been buying unscented and/or gentle brands as much as possible. I also have been buying different sizes - a few newborns, and then an even amount of size 1 & 2. I think it will be nice to have some on-hand those first few months. One less thing to spend money on!

Amy-You sure are having a rough go at it!! I'm glad everything is ok!!
Shelly- WAY cute nursery! I need to take some pics! My DH hasn't hung the things we have on the walls yet but I'll post pics when he does. As for me I was just released from the hospital again. Had to get the swab test and another shot to stop contractions. This time they are having me come in Thursday for my glucose test, to check my cervix, baby, etc and they'll send me home with pills instead of having to get the shot. Hopefully I can keep this little guy cookin for another month or two! Watch...I'll be like two weeks past my due date when i have him!

Nope..no bedrest for me. My doctor doesn't believe in it. He just says take it easy and don't over do it. However, I'm use to working 10 hour days on my feet so I cut back to 5-7 hours instead.

I wound up at the hospital last night after waking up to bright red bleeding at 11:30. I was hooked up to the fetal monitor, which showed uterine "irritability" due possibly to being dehydrated, so I was given IV fluids, which helped. My doctor came in around 1:30 am and checked my cervix and said it was softer than he liked for 29 weeks, so he kept me overnight. When he checked my cervix this morning, nothing had changed so he let me go home. He said the baby looks fine, and he was only seeing signs of BH contractions. He wants me to come in tomorrow for a swab test. Definitely a very scary night for me and DH. I didn't really sleep at all, so I have been napping today.
Brandy - glad to hear that they were able to stop your contractions. When you had the swab test, were you given the results immediately?
