Christie, I meant cast iron pan.
Holly, I will try that. My swelling seems to differ from day to day. Today a little better than yesterday. but tomorrow could be worse.

Holly - glad to hear that your shower went well, hope that you can post some pics.
Christie - I was prescribed iron supplements 3x daily(plus colace) as part of my discharge instructions, and I called my ob today to find out how long I am supposed to take them, and they told me until my 6 week follow up appt! I am going to have to make dietary changes, because taking this much iron is rough. I got to hold my baby today!!!! It was wonderful. He was taken off billi lamps, the CPAP was taken off and he was put on a nasal cannula (sp?). His ear infection is clearing up, and the doctor says his ear drum should heal. He has lost 7 ounces since birth, but the nurse tells me this should start to turn around soon.

Oh Tabitha, George looks wonderful! He is so pink & adorable...and you look great, too! How exciting you were able to hold him & that he is making such excellent strides. I have a feeling you'll be taking him home in no time!
Christie - I started taking the Slow-Release (FE) iron a few weeks ago and haven't had any problems. I take my prenatal in the morning and then the iron before bed. It has really helped my energy level. How are all of your nurseries coming along? I haven't seen any new pictures recently. Our long-awaited dresser is finally being delivered next week (yeah!) and then hopefully I will figure out what to do on the walls. I'm so indecisive these days! Any fun wall-art ideas? I've been thinking about doing one of those large wall quotes that are made out of vinyl.

Ok, here are 3 pics from my camera that I resized so I can post them. Most of the pics are on my mom and aunt's camera.
My mom is on the left in the glasses and my aunt that threw the shower is on the right. My mom makes baby quilts for all the new babies in our family and has been waiting for ever to make me one. The pic is actually the back of the quilt to show the New Jersey Devil's emblem that she added for my DH. The last one is the diaper cake that my aunt made for me to decorate for the shower.

Tabitha- What an inspiring photo of you and baby George!! He looks wonderful and I am so glad he is getting stronger. He will gain weight in no time!!!
Iron supplements-3x daily??? Ugh! I couldn't do it. I hope that my iron is up next visit or they will insist that I take them, but I am trying to eat the right foods to maximize my absorption!! Nursery, lets see. We have it built and painted and carpeted. Not much else. Now we have to decorate, and I am waiting on my crib and my pics that my SIL is painting. My bedding we are making, so thats not ready. So much left to do!!! Holly-looks like you had a wonderful shower and that diaper cake is adorable!!! My rings have been off for about a month or two now. I didn't want to have to cut them off like my sister did. It does suck though, my feet are swelling pretty bad now, although they go down at night.

I need to buy new shoes!!!! I have 2 pairs that fit (besides flip flops/sandals...) Everything jsut feels a little too tight what with the swelling and the spreading and the weight gain and all. I should be happy - I love to buy shoes, but for some reason it just feels like a nuisance.
Christie - for iron absorption also make sure you are getting enough vitamin c - especially if you are eating foods high in iron - drink some OJ with it! It will boost absorption. Holly your pics are lovely. You look beautiful! I tried the ring thing. I think they are just too tight. I can get them on in the morning but they are too snug for comfort. I think they will go on a chain.

Tabitha - George looks like he is doing great. I'm so happy you were able to hold him. I bet you will be taking him home very soon.
Holly - you look so cute. I love the diaper cake. Rings - I took mine off a couple of weeks ago. I could get them on in the a.m. but they got snug throughout the day. I went to J.C Penney and bought a fake ring about 2 sizes bigger than I normally am so I can have something on my ring finger. Nursery - we are getting close. I am waiting for some more butterflies, dragonflies and the letters for her name. Also waiting for the crib bedding. DH doesn't want us to buy it because someone told him they would buy it for us for the shower.

Tabitha - thanks for the updates and pictures of George... i'm soooo glad you were able to hold him! He's only going to get stronger and stronger each day!
Holly - you're shower looks like it was lovely! Rings - I think we're all in pretty much the same boat! With DD I took them off around 20 weeks. This time around I can still wear them, but only for short periods of time and only when it isn't humid! The swelling part really gets to me....both my pgs have been summer pregnancies and the heat and humidty of course makes it much worse! I've told DH that IF we have any more after this one, I will try and time it to be a winter pg!! Haha! Our girls room is almost done. It's painted and mostly decorated, just got to add a few more touches and finish making the curtains. DD has moved up into her big girl bed which she's very excited about .... I'll post some pics when it's completed, hopefully in the next week!

Tabitha, what a lovely picture of you and baby George. Please tell us what you felt when you were holding that charming boy for the first time. I bet you that soon enough, there willl be pictures of you and him at home *sigh*
Christie, I have also been taking SlowFe iron supplements every morning with a tall glass of OJ, it has not affected me at all. I think that besides the iron supplements, they are helping in having regular ** every morning. Alert. . .TMI, the color of the poop is quite dark but it helps stay on schedule. Claudia, thanks for the tip on the iron cast pan. I will start cooking more on the cast iron pan. As far as rings go, I only wear them when I go to work, as soon as I get home, I take them off. If I don't go out, I just don't put them on. It has been easy so far! But I do have two nice fake ones that will be my back up once fingers start getting swollen. Holly, you like so happy and so cute. Your diaper cake is just awesome. I have been trying to make one myself for my SIL but I am not that creative. My nursery is coming along very s . . l . . o. . w. .l . y but I will definitely post pics this week of some of the progress we have made.

thanks for all the compliments ladies! Netty - my aunt herself said that she is NOT the creative type and was so impressed with herself for making the diaper cake so I'm sure you'd be able to do it!
Shoes - I hear you on this topic! I am so lucky that I'm able to wear flip flops or casual flats the majority of the time right now since it's summer. When I do have a mtg, a wear heals, then change back into flip flops ASAP when the mtg is over. I don't know how long that will keep working though because yesterday I had strap lines on my feet after wearing the heels for only 90 mins (and I was sitting the whole time except to walk to and from the car!) LOL! - I lurk on the Sept due date page to see what we have instore. I see my beginning struggles with putting on undies in the morning is just going to get worse!
