I plan to have an NT scan but my doc did not mention anything about it - I'm assuming he'll say something at my visit in a couple of weeks. From what I understand it is the least invasive and I just don't know how I feel about doing any of the others with miscarriage risks.

I am having the NT scan on my next visit, they said it is only b/w and u/s, so not invasive at all. I do not plan on having any of the other ones though. I am so ready for my appt on 3/25, I want to make sure my little bean is still growing strong. Only two more weeks, I can handle that I guess!!

Sounds like we all needed a few days of rest around here! Myself included :-) Work has been kicking my butt and then the baby seems to just suck the rest of my energy right up. I've been having lower back pain and cramping since Friday which of course has me worried. If is another m/c, I know there's nothing they can do, so I just keep telling myself to stay calm until my OB appt on the 19th.
Prometrium - I was told to taper down to 1 dose my 11th week and then stop it and the baby asprin on my 12th week. Clothes - I love the belly band! None of my regular pants fit comfortably without it. I'm very lucky that I inherited a huge bin of maternity clothes from 2 of my closest friends. One was due in May and one in Nov so I have a great wide selection of clothes. Some are too big, but some of the pants fit great already and are so much more comfortable. I'm definately showing, but to others it just looks like fat so I tend to wear more baggy clothes until it actually looks like a baby bump I did wear a pair of maternity shorts this weekend and they were soooo comfortable. One of the few purchases I've made was a short sleeve t-shirt from Motherhood - very comfortable without being baggy. I'm glad to hear the updates from the rest of you. Bedrest would suck and I'm sorry some of you have had bad OB appts or scares recently. And who knew we had a nurse and a peds dr among us! Take care ladies!

Thanks for letting me know about the metformin. I was doing some research of its use during preg and found some conflicting data so wanted to double check. Also, I was wondering if I should stay longer to prevent gestational DM but looks like it is not much worth it.
I am counting the days to stop all this meds in a couple weeks. My tummy is so big today. Per last US my uterus is tilted frontwards and my RE was even able to see the baby by abdominal US. But is also gives me a bigger tummy and put bloating and constipation= I have a huge tummy. Nobody asked me at work yet hopefully they just think I am getting fat from snacking too much. Hopefully I can hold the news till 14 weeks.Claudia: I am also planning to have the NT scan, will your be done by the radiology or the OB department? I am very anxious for this test but hopefully everything will be OK as I am already 40. Everynite I am twisting and turning at bed praying that the baby is healthy.

The NT scan is done by the Prenatal Genetics Program at my hospital.
My tummy is huge too. I hope my bella band comes today. I need it! I was picking up dinner from a restaurant the other night and the cashier asked if I was pregnant! I said yes but still felt mildly offended since I am not showing yet. I was wearing an empire waist dress, but still!

I'm having the NT scan done too. It's next week. I'm low risk, being 27 and already having a healthy child, but I figured since it's non-invasive, my health insurance covers it, and it gives me another peak at my bean then I might as well!
Claudia - can you update me on the list? I'm with the OB now, today HB was 170, and my next appt (for the NT) is 03/19. Thanks so much!

I have an OB appointment on Friday for pelvic exam and bloodwork, and I'm not sure if we will be doing an ultrasound. I will be 10w4d, do you think it will be too early to hear the heartbeat?

Tabitha, from what I have read I think it is certainly possible even likely, but it is certainly not a guarantee that early. If they can't get it, it doesn't mean anything is wrong. I think it also depends on your body type. Shorter and thinner women can have the HB heard earlier than taller or heavier women. I hope they can though. That would be so exciting!!!!
Oh, I got my Bella band today! I am so happy I replaced the rubber band I used to wear my pants today with the bella band and it is so much better!

Tabitha, I know everyone is different but we heard the heartbeat when we went to my 1st OB appt and I was only 7wks. So, if they try, I am sure you will hear it!!
I am already starting to show too. I had gained about 15 pounds with fertility treatments and it was starting to show in my waistine, but now, my pooch is very noticeable and I have to wear big shirts or it looks gross. I guess I am gonna be huge. It is worth it, and these bbs are out of control!!

Christie, did you hear the heartbeat with the doppler or with transvaginal US?

Okay, this is where I get confused. At our first two ultrasounds (transvaginal) we saw the heartbeat. I asked my RE when we could hear it, and he said we wouldn't actually hear it for several more weeks. He said there is a way to produce a sound wave based on the heartrate, but he doesn't like to do it because it places too much heat near the fetus. Does this make sense at all?

That makes sense Tabitha. The doppler picks up the heartbeat usually between 11 and 14 weeks. When I went in just shy of 10 weeks they wouldn't even try and hear it as they said while possible it was unlikely. Perhaps you will be lucky though!
Wow Christie...that was with the doppler??? I've never heard of anyone hearing the heartbeat that early before! Funny story....when I went in yesterday for that quick u/s, I am so used to pulling down my pants and getting naked that I was half undressed, when the tech turned around and told me I didn't need to do that! I hadn't realized that u/s would be on the belly from now on! It was pretty funny! Of course it makes sense, but between follicle checks and the early pg u/s with the RE every u/s that last few months has been vaginal! Nice not to have to do that anymore!

I was able to "hear" the heartbeats as well as see them on the transvaginal ultrasound - they changed the machine over from scanning to showing these sound wave looking things and we could hear it and that is when they counted too (we asked and they said it was a very high tech machine). When I went to the OB they were just using doppler and couldn't hear anything at all. From what I understand 10 weeks or so is about when you can typically hear it through doppler but it varies based on size, position of babies, etc. It also depends on the sensitivity of the doppler being used.
Just to let you all know I broke down and bought some maternity pants yesterday (my sister gave me a gift certificate for my birthday) and they are soooo much more comfortable that even the bella band and I am having no problem keeping them up which is something I worried about. They are great although with maternity shirts that I tried on I looked REALLY preggo. Today my co-worker (who knows that we are expecting) told me I already have the pregnant walk - yikes!
