Claudia - keep us posted! I think you are in Cali so it seems so late when you guys have your appts.!!!
Laura - I definitely feel like time is dragging and I don't even know what I am waiting for - I guess 14 weeks to definitely say we are in the 2nd trimester, who knows when it really is!!! Good to hear your u/s went well - it really is amazing how much different they look in a relatively short time. May 8th isn't too long to find out the gender, so exciting - I can't wait until that appt. for us! I have looked at bedding but my dh says everything I pick out is way too girly - I found the cutest set with one ladybugs for the girl and frogs for the boy and he said that he could get behind that if we had a boy and girl.

Laura I'm glad things went well this morning! I can't believe we're getting dates for finding out the gender already!!!!
As far as decorating, I always look at different ideas. LOL! My neice already lives with us (11 months) so we did the room in brown so that it would be gender neutral when we finally had ours. Lots of her other stuff is all Pink so we're set for a girl, but will have to get a new car seat, portable crib and clothes if we have a boy.

Ok so I had the worst night's sleep last night b/c I was sure I wasn't pregnant anymore, but that isn't at all the case. The NT scan went well and we think that the baby is exceptional looking in every regard. Unfortunately they measured the neck space at 2.2 mm and one of the blood tests was a little low, which puts the baby at a 1/250 risk of a having down's (just slightly more than the risk they would have estimated without doing the scan) I am just slightly worried abouth this, but it translates into a 99.5% chance that the baby is fine. Also I know they can sometimes overestimate the risk. We are still thinking but are probably going to opt out of an amnio. I know the risk of m/c is small, but I can't imagine undergoing a test that could result in m/c. I would be devastated if that happened!
So in any case I think things went really well. I am much more relaxed and feel like the 1st trimester risks are pretty much over. I will sleep tonite. Oh, after I scan and post pics of course! Eriksgirl, congrats on a successful scan! Wow, your gender scan is so early, mine is not until May 23rd!!!!!

Claudia - we need pics!!! Sounds like really, really good odds with the test results - no worries! Those are my thoughts on the amnio stuff too but I go between really feeling like I want to know to prepare and not wanting to risk it - just another thing that makes me anxious. That has been my number one bad thing with pregnancy - it seems to have made me a lot more anxious and stressed which I would not have even thought possible! Stressed about everything and anything!
Are you guys taking bump pictures yet? Everyone keeps telling me to take them as we go along so we can really see the progression. I have a noticeable (to me and dh) bump but to most it probably looks like I have had way too many beers. I told my dh that I really want to start wearing "pregnancy" flowy shirts so it is obvious that it isn't just fat!

I don't have a scanner at work so I will get them into the computer as soon as I get home...Shoot, I should have sent them home with DP to do it because we have dinner plans...oh well priorities! We'll get them in!
The more I think about it the more I do not want to be faced with a decision I do not want to make and if I miscarried a healthy pregnancy after an amnio I could never forgive myself. I think the odds are good enough that the baby does not have downs - and I know the tests aren't perfect so I am thinking right now no amnio. As far as nursery and bedding we are going to co-sleep so we will get a co-sleeper, probably from a friend and the nursery won't truly be that until the baby is ready to sleep there him/herself in a year or two. So that is one thing we will wait on. Right now the nursery is our office and we will be moving that stuff out, keeping the futon in there which has been used as a guest bed in the past. I think the futon may come in handy if the baby is fussy and DP needs to sleep, I can try to get the baby to sleep on it with me to keep her fresh and ready for work. We will put the changing table/dresser and a bookshelf for books and toys and maybe another toy chest. I have some artwork that needs to be framed that I did that is cute for a kid's room and viola!!!! I haven't taken any bump pictures b/c I don't have one yet (a bump that is) unless you count the fat belly I am developing. It looks less bump-like and more flabby, but I tend towards a pudgy belly anyway (pudgy might be an understatement though . Fossie, I dream of drinking beer and smoking cigarettes (at least one dream a week, seroiusly) - maybe my belly is getting big from that!!!!! Usually I realize I am pregnant in the dream and have a little freakout and feel majorly guilty. I am not an anxious person though, clearly. Ha!

Claudia- I am glad to hear everything went well with the NT, even with that small % of risk. I am still debating whether to go for it or not. My OB/GYN is supposed to call me this week with a date and time so we will see.
Talking about drinking. . . I have been craving for a Grey Goose Dirty Martini with olives. I am almost certain that by the time we deliver our little beans, drinking alcohol will no longer be a craving but a necessity ![]() As to nursery bedding, nope! Nothing in the plans just yet. I don't know if it is because I suddendly have become picky or what but nothing appeals to me. I think it is a great idea to start taking pics of our little "bumps" and show our progress. I swear my belly has grown and I know it is just not because of the baby but all the food I have been inhaling lately, LOL. Someone at work made a cute comment to me today - no one at work knows that I am preggo- and I take it with humor. She said to me, "Netty, you look like you just ate a few too many burritos!" If she only knew!

Claudia - I totally agree with you on the amnio. Your odds are amazing that your little baby is perfectly healthy, so why do anything risky. I can't wait to see your pictures!
I couldn't sleep last night and was so bored, so I started searching online for nursery bedding. My DH & I totally think we are having a boy....so, of course, I can only find girl bedding that I like. It's fun to look, even though I feel like I am totally jumping the gun. I will waiting quite a while before buying anything. No belly pics for me yet. With all the weight I gained during our IF treatments, my belly is not in camera-ready shape! :-)

Claudia and Laura - glad to hear that your ultrasounds went well today. Can't wait to see your pics!
DH and I have agreed that we aren't going to have the amnio. Even though the risk of m/c is small, it's just too scary. I have been looking at baby stuff, and I must admit it is a little overwhelming. There are so many options. I like the co-sleeper bassinets that attach to the side of the bed. I haven't really looked at bedding for the crib, but I have been questioning all my friends about convertible vs. standard cribs. Any opinions?

Awwww - what great pics. You can totally see the detail - awesome! So cute that he/she is waving!!!
We are definitely not buying anything until probably after 20 weeks or so but it is still fun to look. My grandmother is a master seamstress so she is going to sew our bedding, minus the sheets, and do some pillows (that won't be in the bed with the babies!), quilts and curtains to match so really I will be getting ideas and hoping I can find fabric!!! Dirty martini sounds delish but I am still having my Jack Daniels craving - was my drink of choice prior to bfp and my dh is driving me crazy drinking the JD we have in the house "since I won't be drinking it." Is it pathetic that I have already asked about the pump and dump rule if I want to have a drink after the babies are born?!?

Tabitha - from what I've heard the convertibles are great options. That is what we would go with if we were buying cribs but since my sister has one just getting out of a crib, and my dad has one (adopted foster child) also just moving into a toddler bed they are just going to give us those two cribs. We are going to use bassinets for the first few months, I think. It is very overwhelming - I think one of the reasons I really want to know the genders is because it narrows the choices!!!
