Claudia - Great pics!! Your little one is gorgeous already! :-)

Unfortunately my OB was out of paper for the u/s machine today so we didn't get any pictures.

All my friends swear by convertible cribs, so I think that is what we will purchase. We haven't discussed whether we will do a co-sleeper or a bassinet in the beginning. Our master bedroom is such an odd shape, the bassinet might be our only option. Plus our dog sleeps with us...so the bed would get very crowded! And I'm not sure how well our dog will share "his" bed. :-)

Laura - our dog sleeps with us too and that is one "privilege" that we want to maintain for her :-)! I am so worried about how our dog will act with the babies but we are going to do everything we can in preparation and hope that our spoiled dog will shape up!!!

I know this has been asked in one variation or another since we started this thread but I'm still going to ask again ! Lately, other than my belly growing (which could be from food) I have felt nothing - I was having some stretching and feelings of something going on in there but now it is as if I could really forget I was preggo if not for the still sore breasts and expanding middle. Is that what you guys were talking about when you said the 2nd trimester feels different?

Hey Fossie - I'm a little worried about how our dog will react to the baby as well. He's so sweet with us and has always been good around our friend's babies...but he can also be territorial. I am going to talk to my Vet in a few months and get suggestions on how to make the transition as easy as possible.

Like you, most days now I could forget that I'm pregnant (other than the oh-so-pretty belly/gut). I'm anxious to really "look pregnant". I've never made it to the 2nd trimester before and am also curious as to what changes to expect.

Claudia: the pics are fantastic. Great profile. I am so glad it all went well.

In regards to the bedding I still did not start looking as I want to do either a super blue boy or very girly room as when we had my DD we did not do any of that as we were way to busy and moving a lot due to my residency and my DH job. So I will wait until mid May. But I already started knitting but I will not finish them until I am on my 2nd trimester (silly superstition ). So I have an almost done vest, a 1/2 jacket and 1/3 coat. At least keep my mind busy as I am so anxious these days. The last news really shaken me. I want so badly to have this chance.

How are you keeping your mind busy and controlling your worries? Any suggestion?

We have two dogs, and I have been worried about how they will react to the baby. One sleeps in the bed with us, the other sleeps on the floor on my side of the bed, exactly where the bassinet will sit. They haven't been around children much, and they seem to get nervous around them. My parents can't believe that we won't be putting the dogs outside when the baby arrives, but I don't want to do that. First of all, they are part of our family, second, I think it would make any jealousy issues much worse. Hopefully it will all work out.

Hey guys. I feel like I need to say something about the dog topic...I had a toy poodle and a border collie when my son was born. Both dogs looked at me with love when we brought him home. I was so relieved. My toy poodle would find his pacifiers and other knick knacks and bring them to me. I thought it was so sweet (and it was). When my son began to be mobile he would get on a little scooter and go all around the house. He would darn near run my toy poodle over and my poodle would nip at him (my son thought it was funny). Just keep in mind, dogs throw all logic out the window over two major things...1) FOOD and 2) PAIN. Kids are messy, food dropping (and sharing) creatures-dogs begin to rely on the food source and they see the child on their level (these dogs were our kids before all of this!). Long story short, my son has been bit twice and that is not out of neglect on our part. My poodle who was my 15 year companion is now with the Lord and the other dog is kept outside and completely seperate from our child. It will never be the same until our son (and new baby) are grown up and they can be talked to about the relationship between people and dogs.

Please talk to your vets about this topic. Don't ever get complacent about leaving pets alone with your children. Don't let your children climb on your pets. I could go on forever. Just talk to your vets. I know I sound harsh and I know what I am saying is heart breaking, but it is much better to start off safe and stay safe.

I have to say that since I had the NT scan yesterday I have been much more relaxed about being pregnant. With the first timester almost over and confirmation by US that everything looks normal I am satisfied that things are going as well as can be expected.

I am sure I will start worrying about many more things as time progresses but for now my symptoms are getting better and the baby is healthy and growing and I am sleeping at night.

chie, I hope you can relax too after your scan on thursday!!! good luck!!!!

I've tried to reply all day at work, but things keep coming up! I finally have a few quiet minutes

belly pics - we were going to start them this past wekeend at 12 weeks but never got around to it. DH can see the bump now, but if you didn't know me you'd still just think I was fat. Still will be fun to compare 12wks to 16 or 20 wks in pics later.

drinks - OMG! There is a Raley's (grocery store) commercial on tv here that every time I see it I CRAVE a huge glass of red wine!

Dogs - We had 3 dogs when my neice was born and they all did great, but I was nervous beforehand. We did put up some baby gates which helped have some areas where they were not underfoot which was especially helpful to the new mommie who was recovering from her c-section. Now, 11 months later we are down to 1 dog not because there was a problem, except that we didn't have enough time to spend with all of them between the baby and our own fertility attempts. The one that is left loves the baby (especially the "sharing" of food!) but I agree we also are proactive and don't assume that nothing will happen. One of us always supervises when the baby and dog are together and are now in the process of teaching the baby how to "pet nicely" instead of reaching out and grabbing a fist full of the dogs coat.

Claudia - those pics are amazing!!!!! That NT scan is way better than the transvaginal U/S's

2nd trimester - I still have way energy and I'm not sure if that from stopping the progestrone or what but I'm not complaining. The indegestion sucks!!!! Other than that, I think the biggest thing is I've been getting "growing pains". I told DH they are more like a "stitch" rather than a cramp we need to be worried about, but man they hurt when I move certain ways!

Hope the rest of you are having a good day!

2/1/08 - 13dpiui beta 59, progestrone 8.4
2/3/08 - 15dpiui 144

The whole dog thing is a very sensitive subject to me because I do not want to be faced with making Marley live outside (this is a dog who goes out to do her business and hurries back in unless we are hanging out there). She is our child and has been for six years. I saw a pretty funny email yesterday entitled "need to find a good home." You would think that would be trying to find a home for a dog but the email goes on to say getting a new puppy, must find home for two children and gave descriptions of the children, including things like not housebroken - it was pretty cute and summed up exactly what I think as of now that I would never get rid of or be expected to get rid of a child who was jealous of the new child or who bit the new child but everyone thinks as soon as a baby comes in the picture you must get rid of the dog. It is such a scary circumstance because if she bites the babies I won't know what to do I'm just hoping she gets used to them and grows to love the babies in the months before they are mobile.

I was having those stitch like pains when I moved to fast but none recently - :-(.

Ok ladies, here is the new and improved movin' into the second trimester calendar. I decided to get rid of the US results altogether and to merge the bean count with the EDD list. If you ahve US or NT scans or other testing to be added let me know as well, that list is still active

I don't have a few of your EDDs (at the end of the list) so if you give them to me I will put them up. There are a couple of people who haven't been around in awile, so if that is you and you want your name on the list speak up or I'll take you off next week. As always if there are any errors or omissions it is not personal and very easily corrected....

Oh and Blessusw/baby and Chie, good luck on your NT scans and remember: we want pictures!!!!
