Hi Claudia -

Seeing the due date list is so amazing! Thank you for putting that all together...October is going to be an incredible month.

As for my neverending nerves...my next u/s isn't until 5/2, so this is going to be a long few weeks. My doctor hasn't mentioned & hasn't offered a NT. I am wondering if I should request one.

What is everyone's opinion of the NT? Should I request one?

Laura, I just looked at your sig and it looks like you had an us a week ago. If everything looked good at 11 weeks, I would be surprised if you were having a miscarriage now. One thing I try to say to myself when I get worried is that if something happens to the baby at this point there was nothing I could do to prevent it. Cold comfort maybe, but it helps me when I start to spiral. An US provides reassurance but can't change the outcome. You could probably rent a doppler soon if you are really worried. when is your next OB appt?

Is your US 5/8 or 5/2? I had you down for a gender scan on 5/8.

As far as the NT scan, my OB said that they are now offering down's screening for all pregnant women. If I were 30, I might not do it b/c your risk is pretty low, but if you are concerned about the risk of down's you might want to ask for one. If you wouldn't terminate the pregnancy if the baby had down's then it probably wouldn't be useful. Also as far as I know they are not done at all medical centers, so you might have to travel for one depending on where you live.

Claudia, thanks for keeping everyone's stats. Can you change mine (MelBar) to two beans?

Glad everyone is doing well. Had another u/s Friday and the babies looked beautiful! I have been so lucky with not having any major symptoms, other than my pants getting too snug. Just ordered a baby band so that I can keep wearing my pants for a while longer.

Claudia - Thank you. I know there is nothing I can do to prevent something from happening. It is cold comfort, but I appreciate it. :-) I have a doctors appt on 5/2, just a regular check-up w/o ultrasound. Then my gender scan is on 5/8.

My DH & I would definitely not change the course of this pregnancy if the NT showed Downs. I just need to take a deep breath, have faith that everything is OK, and get through the next few weeks without completely stressing myself out. Easier said than done!

Laura, I totally feel you with the nerves thing. After the last wave of silent miscarriages I really was thrown for a loop. But really we are getting past that point and now we will start to have new things to worry about! Yay!

I had an OB appt today. It was really boring. I heard the heartbeat, which was great, but otherwise so routine. I think it is great! It makes me feel so normal and not like the "special infertility lady that has had such misfortune". I really appreciated the mundaness of it. The midwife did say that they recommend NSTs weekly after 33 wks for IVF pregnancies. So far I cannot get behind this if the pregnancy is healthy. Do IVF pregnancies have more stillbirths? Is there more risk for fetal distress? I was not aware of this and unless I can get a good answer I won't do them. What do you all think? Has anyone recommended this for you if you have had IVF?

Chie, Claudia- Happy to hear your NT scans went well.
I am having mine on Friday, April 11th and I called the Radiology place where I will have it done to ask how long it will take. The lady on the phone told me that it will be only 1/2 hour. I thought the NT scan was a more detailed and lengthy U/S.

Claudia, Chie and everyone else who had this test done, Can you please tell me if it is worth having it done? If it is only to detect downs, I then will cancel it because the outcome will not change the course. From what other ladies have shared with me is that the test is so neat because you are able to see your little bean dancing and waving at you. Is this true? Because if it is, then I will have it done just to see my baby.

Your thoughts please. . .

K October buddies. If you have noticed, there are two threads that are kicking serious butt and I happen to be a frequent lurker on those two. They are the January and June Buddies, and they even have rating stars.

What do we need to do to get ours with stars? One thing I would say is that both threads have cute pics, they post updates of their baby bumps and if that is what it takes to get us going, Why don't we start having a little bit of fun? It would be so awesome to see how our bellies growing from weeks old till our almost delivery date.

What do you think?

che-girl - The test does primarily detect downs and then also other chromosomal abnormalities. I felt thes ame as you - I'm low risk, and the results wouldn't have made me take any course of action anyway. But it's true you get to spend a while gazing at your little one and watching them in action, and for me that was sooooo worth it! We got to see the little wriggler for about 20 minutes, which is actually quite a while! So, go for it if you want a good long peek in there!

I've been feeling very crampy and heavy today - I'm sure just uterine changes. It's kind of nice as it reminds me I'm pregnant, as I feel so good at the moment compared to a month ago. The belly is getting noticeable now which is nice too - now I don't just feel like a ate too much! Can't believe in 3 weeks I will know whether it's a boy or girl! Wow!

Hope everyone is good and all your appts are going well!

Caroline-
Thanks for the response!

yay! I would take a pic of me tonight but I had some ice cream an hour ago and I feel so bloated and swollen. So if I post a pic of my belly bump, it would not be an accurate one. Tomorrow night, I promise!
