I agree. I have been in maternity pants for a few weeks now and have just started wearing the shirts. they do make you look more preggo than regular clothes, for me my regular clothes just made me look fat. I am starting to "pop" I guess is what they call it. My stomach is now a good bump and it is hard up high also. Which my OB told me I was carrying high for my weeks and that I would probably carry high the entire pregnancy. I cannot stand anything pressing into my stomach. Not even elastic!!!

And I have been constipated for almost 2 weeks now, it is killing me. DO any of you have any remedies for that? I am eating a good diet, lots of salads and veggies and fruits but they haven't worked.

I still have another week and 1/2 before I go back to OB and that is just for b/w and heartbeat, no u/s But my next visit will be our gender visit and I can't wait for that!!

Christie - I have had the same problem and it is miserable!!! The only thing that sort of works for me is drinking apple (or prune if you can stomach it) juice, taking colace (docs say is safe), and not taking pre-natals when it gets really bad just for a day or two (docs suggestion). Gylcerine suppositories are supposed to be perfectly safe since they have no medication but I have not taken them - it already scares me not to take my prenatals! I never knew constipation could hurt so bad!!! I guess I will now sympathize with my babies if they have bowel, gas issues as so many do - if I cry in pain I can't imagine what they feel like!

Hello ladies...hope all is well!. The constipation thing....the only thing that keeps me regular is if every morning I eat a bowl of oatmeal and stir in two tablespoons of extra wheatbran, wheatgerm and flaxseed. If I eat ANYtHING different for breakfast I don't go that day! Luckily I like oatmeal I stir in a tablespoon of almond butter, top if with sliced banana and it's quite delicious. I also make sure I eat plenty of fiber from other foods throughout the day, drink a lot of water and eat a probiotic yoghurt each day too. But I know how I you girls feel....I had constipation really bad during my first trimester. Regular exercise/movement helps too. Good Luck!

I'm not really in maternity clothes yet, though I did buy one pair of maternity jeans the other day. I'm still getting by with the elastic extender for most of my pants and wearing longer, loose tops. I actually even went shopping the other day and bought a few things in regular shops....linen pants with drawstring etc. And thankfully those loose tunic tops are quite in at the moment so I've stocked up on those. I'm quite small to begin with so I'm hoping I can get away without the maternity clothes for as long as possible. I hated wearing them with dd!

the stool softener has been somewhat helpful for me. I used to be able to keep the constipation under control by eating lots of fruit, but that just didn't seem to work last week.

Dried prunes have been helping me. I bought the ones that come in single serving packets (it's about 2 small prunes per pack). I eat a pack every other day or so, and that helps. But what has really been helping is exercise. My DH & I have been going for an hour walk each night and since we began walking I feel so much better. Not being constipated is good motivation to exercise! :-)

Prunes and prune juice have been helpful for me...Also water, water and more water. And carrots, if I eat a couple of raw carrots I am in good shape...

Hello October buddies,
Well I had my NT scan today and everything looks good with my little wiggle worm - the baby was very active. I feel so much more relaxed now. Baby is measuring a few days ahead at 12w5d. Our anatamy scan is scheduled for May 19th. Here are a few pics of the baby.

As for constipation I have started taking a prenatal vitamin that includes a stool softner which has really helped.

Hope everyone has a great week.

i haven't had constipation too too bad, but when i do i drink lots of water and add some fiber to my diet.

i am only 12 weeks and starting to show already! isn't that a bit early? oh well, i love it. i have been wearing my regular pants unzipeed w/ a bella band and long, looser tops for a few weeks. i think it might be almost time for me to shop for some maternity cloths.

i am home sick from work today and feeling miserable. i have a bad cold and cough and the worst headache. has anyone ever used a humidifier? do they really help?

you sound like you have the same thing I have We had a humidifer for my neice so I brought into my room the last couple of nights and did seem to help. As much as I hate it, the saline nose spray has been helping between does of medication too because everything seems so dry up there.

Hang in there

Amy and Holly, I am sorry to hear that you are under the weather. Hoping you feel better soon.

Melissa, awesome u/s! So glad everything went well with the NT scan. Wasn't it amazing to see your little baby dance and move around?

My preggo buddies, I have been suffering from constipation problems all my life. Prunes don't work for me. What I have been doing lately is to have a little bit of my DH's coffee in the morning, and call me crazy and bad, but minutes after a take a few sips, VOILA! Everything is well again

It is not a whole cup I drink, just a few sips because, obviously caffeine is restricted for us.

As for maternity clothes, I am so thrilled that the baby dolls and empire waist tops and dresses are so IN so that is what I have been wearing. I celebrate my little bump, even though I know more of that is just fat but, hay, we gotta show it, right?
