Hi ladies! I'm glad all seems to be going well with everyone!

I have a question and am hoping someone can help shed some light for me.

When I had my 1st OBGYN appt at 9weeks3days I told my doctor that I didn't want to have the scans done for downs etc because of the false positives. He understood and then said we would possibly do some other kind of scan/ultrasound. I know that my next appt is this Wednesday (the 23rd) and all we are doing is the Doppler. So my question is this, what scan/ultrasound do y'all suppose he is talking about doing and what week would it be? I know I will ask him Wednesday but for some reason it has just now started bugging me -- not knowing what the scan is. Would it be the anatomy scan?

He may have been talking about a nuchal scan without the blood component which with just the ultrasound is just like the anatomy scan but you are almost at 14 weeks and that is the latest you can do the NT scan so probably just the anatomy scan. That is what we are doing in May and they said that we will be able to see some markers or indications of health/problems at that appt.

Thanks Fossie! I bet you're right and it's the anatomy scan. I hope they will be able to tell me the gender then too!

Hey ladies - just a quick note before I head for bed. I'm FINALLY feeling like I'm getting over this cold. Pretty much ran a low grade fever all week and kept on schedule with the tylenol to keep it down. The nasal/head congestion has become much more manageable and less gross (I'll spare you the details )

Caroline, I'm sorry you had such a scare. Even though you were pretty sure the baby was fine heading into ER, I'm sure the relief of knowing that you and the baby was a huge relief.

Take care ladies and "see" you tomorrow!

Our group is so quiet today! :-)

Well, I have some news...I failed my 1-hour glucose test. BIG BUMMER! I will do the 3-hour version on Saturday morning. I am hoping & praying that I pass this one. I'm nervous & just SO don't want to have gestational diabetes. I read online that 75% of women that fail the one hour test end up passing the 3 hour test. However I know those numbers are lower for women with PCOS, like me. But hopefully I'll be on the good side of a statistic for once!

Other than that, everything else is good. My DH & I ventured into Babies R Us this weekend so that I could buy a body pillow. I got the Boppie Snuggler...it's great! We also looked briefly at nursery furniture & bedding and we actually agreed on what we like! I'm so excited to hit the 20 week mark. That's when we agreed to start decorating. Such fun stuff to look foward to!

Hope you are all feeling healthy & strong!

Good to hear from everyone! Laura me and dh agreed to start buying and decorating at 20 weeks too - I can't wait. I've been in a bit of a worrywart stage - wondering if I should be feeling movement right now and worried that we are going to get to the next appt. in 3 more loooong weeks and find out something is wrong. I've got to snap out of it - luckily I have two events coming up at work to occupy me. Sorry to hear about the GD test - I was told by my perinatologist that he wanted me to take it early so I'm sure it is right around the corner for me - hope the 3 hour one goes well!

Amy - glad to hear you are feeling a bit better - 13 weeks rocks!

I'm sorry about the one-hour glucose test Laura, but hopefully you will pass the 3-hour test! I have PCOS too and am worried about the glucose tests too!

I have my next OBGYN appt. today but no ultrasound, just the doppler.

Hi ladies
Glad that everyone is well, or at least feeling better.... I am at last.... that was a rough weekend! I've not experienced pain like that since I gave birth to DD!! I really hope it doesn't return.

Sorry about your glucose test laura.... keeping my fingers crossed you'll be fine for the next one. What does that mean if you get GD?

I've been having some definate baby movements this week which is great!! It feels like there is something bumping around in my lower abdomen. The movements aren't strong enough to feel on the outside yet, but they're definately there! I was having breakfast with dd this morning and said, "hey Abby, I just felt the baby kick" and she said "no no, don't kick my mummy!" So Cute!!

Can't believe I find out the gender this Monday!!!!

Hey Ladies - thank you all for your well-wishes for my 3-hour glucose test. I really appreciate it! I do the testing from 8am-11am this Saturday. I should have results by Monday. I really don't know what it will mean if I have GD. I know most people have the option of trying to control their insulin w/ diet only before going on insulin. I want to avoid insulin if at all possible, so I would imagine I'll be sticking to a very strict diet, and that is fine by me!

I can't believe you are feeling movement of your baby...that is awesome! I cannot wait until that day comes.

Fossie - I have the same thoughts & fears as you. My doctor keeps reassuring me that it's natural to be scared after all we have been through. But we are all doing GREAT and I know your next appoinment will go wonderful! I go again in 1 1/2 weeks and I can't wait.

Hello ladies,

Glad everyone is doing well.
Laura - good luck on your test Saturday.

Caroline - can't wait to hear what you are having. That's so exciting.

Amy - I hit 13 weeks today and know what you mean. It really feels good to be this far.

Well I got my blood test results back and they are 1/1,000 for Downs and 1/10,000 for Trisomy 18. We go for the 2nd round of blood tests on May 12th. Needless to say we are relieved. Had an OB appt today and he said we are "cruising along". Good words to hear from the doc.

Hope everyone has a great week.

Morning ladies!

Laura - Sorry about the test. I guess with PCOS, we'll be discussing the 1 hour test with the doc at my appt Tuesday. Good thing I have you ladies to remind me what I should ask the dr about if she doesn't bring it up!

BTW Laura - isn't this weather driving you crazy? Just when I thought all our winter stuff could be packed up, now I'm searching to see what fits with my growing bump!

Shellie - I understand your concern. I just started crying and DH thinks I'm crazy last night. It's been 5 weeks since my last appt and even though I have signs that things are going well, those stupid thoughts have started to creep back in as I wait for my appt on Tuesday.

Two questions for you ladies today -

1 - Anyone else having a hard time figuring out how to tell people how far along you are in months?

2 - Anyone tried to by a bra lately? I'm seriously busting out of the ones I have but had a hard time trying to find some that fit the other day. I'm wondering if I just just break down and buy the pregnancy ones now?

Hi,
Sorry I have not been posting recently work and life has been quite busy.
Last week I had 2 big scares.
Thursday morning when I woke up I noticed that I was having vaginal bleeding. I got so scared, luckly I was able to catch my DH a few blocks from home and was quickly evaluated at the hospital. But when they did the US, I saw that 2 cute legs wiggling at me and it was the most wonderfull view. Looks like my placent is laying low still and close to the uterus opening, no major risks, but she reccomeded pelvic rest for a couple weeks. Well when the doc said that I immediately looked at my DH's face to check his reaction... no reaction??? Well latter I asked do you know what pelvic rest is, Yeah you rest on your pelvis. Well, kind of ... but actually means no X.
Ohhh...

Laura, I also failled the 1hour glucose challenge test, because I had some bordeline results prepreg my OB decided to consider me with GDM without the 3h test and I am doing finger sticks blood sugar test 4x day. For my great surprise despite always having normal fasting levels I had a few high levels after meals, so now I am counting carbs. No chocolate cakes for me.

Fossie: I also had decided to start baby shopping after 20w.

Hi ladies, I am here. It has been a very busy week at work and I have not had the chance to get online at all! Caroline and Chie I am sorry for the scares and glad that everything is ok. Caroline congrats on the movement! Certainly a reward for being pregnant with #2! I though I felt some bubbly gas in my low abdomen last night - similar to what people describe as early feelings of movement, but I think I was just being hopeful.

All is well with me. I have started getting very hot - hot flashes and then just general warmth all the time. Also I started prenatal yoga this week, which I am very happy I did. I had such a crabby depressed day on Monday and even though I didn't wat to go I went anyway (I forced myself b/c I knew I would feel better) and I did. It is only 9 people or so and I really felt community which was nice.

Otherwise, I feel my abd getting harder, but the bump is not noticeable still. I am waiting!!!!
